Despite all the issues Tom had to face, he did far better in playing the piano as compared to Bugs, who showed off. And Cat Concerto is something I remember more than Rhapsody Rabbit.
I remember seeing cat concerto as a kid and I loved it. Had no idea how old it was, thats what I love about these cartoons, theyre timeless and classic.
During my childhood, I always side with Jerry and thought Tom was the one being evil in the whole series😂 but sometimes feel sorry when Tom got hurt. When I rewatched it, I realized Jerry was actually the one being really annoying here😂
That seems to be the case with a loooot of us. As kids, we root for Jerry cause he's the small, adorable mouse. As adults, we root for Tom cause he's gotta deal with bullshit from Jerry. 😆

Bugs Bunny’s version was an indeed comedic yet impressive take, while Tom and Jerry’s was a majestic yet amusing take. Both of their jazzy breakdowns, I’ll admit, were real genius. Tom went as accurate as he could, and Bugs went a bit more outside lol
Weird to think about how many kids watched these cartoons whose fathers and brothers never came back from the war. Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry had some seriously heavy lifting to do.
What's impressive about the Looney Toons version is that considering the "Bugs always wins" rule that mouse is literally the only character who ever "beat" him in one of these shorts.
@@HereForTheComments I forgot about him to be honest, but he's literally the kryptonite of Bugs so it's still impressive this mouse is one of the only two who ever beat Bugs.
@@ThatBugBehindYou Bugs also loses in Haredevil Hare, in fact EVERYBODY loses in THAT one. I don't count 'What's Opera Doc?' because Bugs isn't REALLY dead.
Friz Freleng, the director for Rhapsody Rabbit, was apparently gobbed-smacked that Hanna Barbara and he had hit upon the same idea as him, at the same time, he and they had both produced their respective cartoons for their respective studios during the same year and both were shown at the same Academy Awards in 1947. Friz had the harder fight given that a rabbit fighting a mouse does not make as much sense as a cat fighting a mouse.
Yeah the mouse bit never really fit Rhapsody Rabbit. Would've been a more "Looney Toons-y" joke to pan to a Toon-y Franz Liszt or a Hungarian Giant Rabbit opposite him bashing out the final lines instead.
@@KiraSlith And Sylvester had already appeared in a couple of Tweety shorts by then. He totally would have been a good fit; but then, on the other hand, maybe Warner thought, "no, that's too Tom & Jerry, let's stick with our most popular lead, Bugs."
When you see both of these classic cartoons, it is rather clear that for accuracy and history of the characters involved, Tom and Jerry is the clear winner here. You must remember, Bugs Bunny never had a situation like this. His confrontations usually involved being hunted by Elmer Fudd or harassed by a host of other characters (Examples include Daffy Duck, the Tazmainan Devil, et al.) so Bugs went all out for the slapstick aspect in this cartoon short. Therefore, while very much the same, these two cartoons are vastly different. Enjoying one more than the other is immaterial as long as you see the angles that each went from. Now, If you take it from the standpoint of the adversarial situation, again, Tom and Jerry have this won going away as they have had this relationship for many years as mentioned before and Bugs, if he had Elmer or even Daffy causing mischief, might have made it closer. But, alas for Bugs, they gave him a mouse in an attempt to show a bit of mayhem. In short, enjoy both for what they are and don't worry about who was better.
It's even rare to see Bugs being defeated by someone or something since he usually wins all the time. This would be his first time being defeated by some unnamed rat.
I think that supports the premise that, despite being earlier, Looney Tunes stole the idea from Tom and Jerry. I think T & J started it but had a snag in the production schedule, so theirs came later, and Bugs stole it in the first place. As you say, putting him with a mouse is so much out of left field, and the confrontation doesn't really happen organically.
As much as I love both, I still feel like Tom and Jerry has a bit more depth to their animation. Both are golden shows though!!! Nothing will beat these two!
you can really tell how different their styles are, Bugs goes for a faster, louder, and more energetic style, while Tom likes it classy and traditional
I can actually see Bugs and Tom side by side playing the piano with all sorts of pieces to gain the audiences respect, then Jerry and the other mouse thwart the two by making it intense for both of them.
@@slytheringuy0529 I mean Turner's pre-May 1986 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer library and current home video distributor under license from MGM Home Entertainment catalog titles replacing Disney/Fox since July 1, 2020.

That was one of the most magical things in TV that happened to me.
Both are great and iconic for different reasons. They poked fun at this in Who Framed Roger Rabbit where two ducks from different studios play this same song.
First time I see both side by side like this. Quite the eye-opener. Even though there's only a year seperating both shorts, Cat Concerto definitely comes out on top in almost every category. The animation, the gags, the timing...it was so well thought out compared to Bugs' short.

Agreed
But tom did it better on my opinion
It looks like Tom's playing is accurate, and that you could play the same piece yourself simply by looking at the key he strikes.
Crazy work here
It is! They even won an Oscar for this cartoon. Tom's and Jerry's motions follow the notes perfectly.
Tom and Jerry won their fourth Academy Award over Bugs Bunny’s Rhapsody Rabbit.
Well. At least Tweetie Pie took home a Oscar in 1948. ^^
@@kooarchived doesn't matter tom and jerry is 3 awards ahead😂😂
Tom and Jerry: OUR FOURTHS ACADEMY AWARD!!!!!!!!!!! Bugs bunny: 😂

@@ayushmansingh261 How so?

Tom in My Opinion Got most of the Notes correctly while Bugs sometimes felt a Tiny Bit of show off
I didn't hate Looney Toons Btw
It's a cartoon. Tis a contest of humor and not who plays better. Mastery of the piece was never the criteria in the first place.
*Loony Tunes
But then again it wasn't about who play better but it's about the humour (since it's the main purpose of it) of it and the Tom and jerry one was better as it's quite hillarious 😆

One of the few episodes that not only made me root for Tom but my boy definitely got the W.

And he still killed it
Tom was actually the jerk in this one though
Feel like Tom and Jerry had better gags (altho the type writer one was pretty damn funny) like between bugs playing the high note with his ear vs Tom's pinky stretching ridiculously far there's a clear winner

I really liked that one typewriter one
I will say as a pianist, the part where Bugs turns the page and just sees musical nonsense got a legit chuckle out of me. But overall I prefer the Tom and Jerry cartoon.
Despite all the issues Tom had to face, he did far better in playing the piano as compared to Bugs, who showed off. And Cat Concerto is something I remember more than Rhapsody Rabbit.
More elegant, more smooth, more “emotion”, more movement, much more precise notes
@@好吧-h6k Well said!
Old cartoons like this is probably why I recognize classical music.
I remember seeing cat concerto as a kid and I loved it. Had no idea how old it was, thats what I love about these cartoons, theyre timeless and classic.
Tom was better than the rabbit here.

I like how Jerry was making himself at home in the piano

It bothers me that Tom and Jerry never got to meet Bugs, or even Mickey Mouse for that matter, as they were cut from 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?'.

Cutting Tom and Jerry is evil lol

Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry had some seriously heavy lifting to do.
Gotta praise Tom & Jerry for this one. Their chaotic energy syncs really well with the song
Tom looked really passionate while playing the piece
The Cat Concerto is the best in my opinion. The animation is so smooth & feels real, quality is overwhelming and the jokes always get me laughing.

What's impressive about the Looney Toons version is that considering the "Bugs always wins" rule that mouse is literally the only character who ever "beat" him in one of these shorts.
What about Cecil?
@@HereForTheComments
I forgot about him to be honest, but he's literally the kryptonite of Bugs so it's still impressive this mouse is one of the only two who ever beat Bugs.
@@ThatBugBehindYou You might also count that Gremlin.
@@HereForTheComments Well, Cecil has failed twice in one cartoon, but he still won at the end.
@@ThatBugBehindYou Bugs also loses in Haredevil Hare, in fact EVERYBODY loses in THAT one. I don't count 'What's Opera Doc?' because Bugs isn't REALLY dead.
1946 and 1947 I did not realize that that's when these were made when I was a child watching them in the 90s.
0:30 Tom: "Hmph, unprofessional... *wipes hands in disgust* "
Jerry having a delay in his knockout never fails to bring a chuckle out of me
Friz Freleng, the director for Rhapsody Rabbit, was apparently gobbed-smacked that Hanna Barbara and he had hit upon the same idea as him, at the same time, he and they had both produced their respective cartoons for their respective studios during the same year and both were shown at the same Academy Awards in 1947.
3:25 i always love the part where the piano actively takes part in beating jerry to a pulp 😂 that's where the cat concerto wins hands down
When you see both of these classic cartoons, it is rather clear that for accuracy and history of the characters involved, Tom and Jerry is the clear winner here.
I wish more children's cartoons made stuff like this. That Figaro joke was pleasantly surprising
As much as I love both, I still feel like Tom and Jerry has a bit more depth to their animation. Both are golden shows though!!! Nothing will beat these two!
Tom out-played Bugs bunny I never put that much thought into it, but give that cat an award lol. It"s not easy to perform better than Bugs 😂
I heard Tom got his fourth Academy Award from this.
you can really tell how different their styles are, Bugs goes for a faster, louder, and more energetic style, while Tom likes it classy and traditional
I think I'm not the only one who got to know how piano works from that tom and jerry episode
This is no longer a side comparison, it's a live performance
Jerry just not knowing what to do whilst he's being pummeled by the piano for like a minute straight made Tom and Jerry's version better for me 😂
The one time I kind of hoped Jerry didn't mess with him. The man put on a show with class. Well done Tom! 👏👏
I can actually see Bugs and Tom side by side playing the piano with all sorts of pieces to gain the audiences respect, then Jerry and the other mouse thwart the two by making it intense for both of them.
If they got Tom and Jerry into roger rabbit, they should have done that instead of Donald and daffy

Here’s another fun fact: Rhapsody Rabbit was the very first cartoon to air on Cartoon Network when it went on the air October 1, 1992.
You could really see the animator’s hard work in both animations to be in sync with the piece. Old animators were cracked

First time I see both side by side like this. Quite the eye-opener. Even though there's only a year seperating both shorts, Cat Concerto definitely comes out on top in almost every category. The animation, the gags, the timing...it was so well thought out compared to Bugs' short.
