Still very cool of Gibson to showcase all these guitars and not just their products. For historical purposes it’s awesome to see Gibson capture these instruments for everyone to appreciate their history and contributions to the music timeline.
Stuff like this is really rare in the guitar industry. You see it from a few pedal builders like JHS and Wampler, but you don't see big brands doing stuff like this. You're not going to see Fender produce a TH-cam video that doesn't talk about Fender and only features another brand in a positive light. It shows an appreciation for guitar history, not just Gibson history. Yes they defend their trademarks which I can't blame them for, but they're showing support for a brand that made their own unique guitar.

Paul Stanley is 72 going on 27 , and i don't care if he wears a wig or had face lifts etc, he makes his living in front of an audience and KISS have always been masked costumed superheroes who rocked hard with wicked catchy riffs and blistering solos and Paul is ridiculously under rated as a rhythm guitarist second only to Steve Marriot or Scott Ian, love this man for all his faults and ego , after all you don't create a legend like KISS without confidence and bravado, Rock On Paul looking forward to seeing you in 2077 on the 100th anniversary of the Love Gun tour which was my first concert at age 10 , August 19, 1977 at the San Diego Sports Arena with Cheap Trick opening, a night i'll never forget
As a kid in the 70s, KISS was my favorite band , still is. This guitar, in my opinion, is the most beautiful rock guitar ever. It exemplifies what a rock guitar is supposed to be.
So glad this was extracted from the much longer Paul Stanley Gibson video. It's curious the Cracked Mirror guitar appears just when Ace Frehley had his most famous costume. A costume that featured a lot of mirrors. Of these three guitars my heart is on the 1977 Ibanez PS-10. It's the guitar that's played at the absolute peak of Kiss popularity. It's seen in so many live shows. It would be priceless. Such an important piece of rock history

Great interview Gibson! And so refreshing to hear that the player actually KNOWS A LOT about their signature guitar! I'd also like to know why he went to Washburn for a while? Did he have a fall-out with Ibanez? Although I think he's back with Ibanez now? There needs to be a long in-depth interview about the whole history of Paul's guitars, especially as Paul narrates so well too! A joy to listen to!👍
I don't own any kiss albums, and I know maybe one or two songs. Ultimately not a fan. This was still really cool, and a great episode. Hats off to Gibson for featuring this and Paul Stanley for being gracious enough to share his collection.
I have a 1980 PS10, none of the tuners in that video are what the production model had. Pick ups are Ibanez V 2 originally not Di Marzio. Its a great neck, super high quality guitar.
6:57 A lot of Kiss fan’s are gonna hate me for this, but…I played that guitar. Yes, this exact guitar. And also (I believe) the black Gibson featured in the cover of the Alive album. I’ll explain… I played drums in a Kiss tribute band from Canada called ALIVE and we (or some version of the band) did 9 shows on the 1995 Convention Tour. And at the last show in Pittsburgh, we helped unload the cases and set up the displays (it also happened in Phoenix Az when local crew didn’t show and Tommy Thayer (then tour manager!) came onto the bus and woke us, asking if we wanted to earn some extra cash and get paid to load in. I’ve never woken up faster in my life! Plus I got to set up Peter Criss’ ALIVE tour mirror ball drum kit that day, thanks to dearly departed drum tech Kenny Barr. But that’s a story for another time). At any rate, it was fantastic-I only know barre chords so I played the riff for C’Mon And Love Me on on both guitars. Well, ok…MY VERSI0N of the riff 😂. Also, later that day, I did Eric Singer’s drum check for him and got to use both versions of his set-up: the larger double bass kit for his ‘clinic’ and the stripped-down, smaller kit for their unplugged set: which he also let ALIVE use for the last two shows of the tour (our van, trailer and gear was stolen in Boston-as was my costume and wig!) And as Paul says, the guitar’s surface was NOT smooth! And yes, it WAS his blood on the guitar-it was even more prominent 30 years ago.
I thought the Firebird on the cover of Alive! was broken in the studio recording Destroyer. It fell off its stand. Are you sure it wasn't something else?

All I remember is that it was a memorable vintage black ‘Paul’ Kiss guitar from my fave era. The story is still still 100% true though. We didn’t carry phone/cameras with us everywhere back then, though I did sneak off a funny Instamatic shot of me in Paul’s’ Firehouse helmet.
The coolest guitar, played by the most talented songwriter in KISS. The man wrote "Tears Are Falling", one of the very greatest rock songs of all time and one of the top five KISS songs in my opinion. Paul is simply wicked and has talent few of us could ever hope to possess. I have an Iceman and it is all I play, he is the reason. Ah hey, people - let's go!
I love that cracked mirror guitar so much I copied 2. One gold mirror and one silver mirror. I even traced out the exact cracks when cutting the "plastic" mirror pieces. It almost sent me insane keeping the correct pieces in order before gluing them down. It was like a jigsaw puzzle. When gluing down the gold mirror pieces, some chemical reaction happened and I ended up with that aged look Paul has on his original. A happy accident.
The latter 70’s Ibanez guitars were really well made and had a number of top level players using them: Paul Stanley (obviously), Steve Miller, Bob Weir, Joe Pass, and George Benson. Yeah, that era of Ibanez was pretty good but then they decided to go with bolt-on, Strat-inspired guitars… Anyone heard of a guy named Steve Vai, lol?
ive got a 96 ps10 and i love the way they play, and to be honest the fretboard and neck feel is almost exactly like my les paul standards to be honest. mine has the dimarzios as well. beautiful guitar

this cracked glass guitar is what made me love iceman. the look. it's just. it's up there alongside "eet fuk" there was a semi-obscure ibanez lineup called "dark night" (DN520K) that was a dream guitar and i wanted it to have the same shattered glass look
Gibson just made me respect their brand and humbleness TENFOLD from this single video. PS Every single Gibson SG I've ever owned (three, from various time periods, models and colors) has been an absolute champion of a guitar that has made me accomplish wonderful, sonic dreams, manifest flesh. I didn't choose musician as a career. However, Kiss attitude pushed me to the top of the automation design field. When I read Kiss interviews in the 70s, I ate up everything they said about business. (:
What annoys me is that he never mentions where he got the idea for the cracked mirror guitar, and that’s par for the course because hardly anyone knows the story. Paul saw Noddy Holder of Slade wearing his hat covered with mirrors and saw the effect it had when the spotlights hit the hat and it acted like a mirror ball and he decided to do the same thing with his guitar. Slade were a huge influence on Kiss and they barely get mentioned.
I had a dream that Dimebag Darrell gave me the cracked mirror Iceman: I wanted one after that dream, feeling that it was a portent, but, they do not make these for us lefties!
Respect for putting a guitar that isn’t a Gibson.
