@@juanfelix9949 can't find any information about toxic poisons in terracotta pots anywhere, this must be a hidden scandal in the gardening world with grandma's dying all over the place......or are they special heat activated heavy metals you are talking about?
Here are a couple of tips that make assembly slightly easier th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . 1) One person can assemble, but if you have a buddy to help, it will make it go faster - especially steps 1-3 and 8 (the legs aren't heavy but can be difficult to hold while screwing things in). Step 8, 1st part will take some time unless you have two more hands OR are really lucky. 2) Use a socket wrench! 3) Step 7, 3rd part - the flame carry over tube has an open side, MAKE SURE THE OPEN SIDE IS FACING THE FRONT. If it's facing the back, the tube won't work. 4) Step 10, 3rd part - if you don't have small hands (I don't, they're gigantic) getting the nut on is really difficult (but not impossible). It took me about 4 hours to assemble, but I took a "union break" every 60-90 minutes and ate a quick lunch. Also, I'm really OCD so I took my time, looked at the instructions carefully, and cleaned up as I went.
Fantastic video. All I could suggest is that the finished Kamado grill is highly likely to crack if you put charcoal or briquettes the very first time you use it, as the terracotta would not have been seasoned. To season it (the same way you would do with a Chimenea), you would need to put a bit of sand at the bottom, then build a small fire out of a fire starter (newspaper) and allow it to die down and fully cool down. Then build another fire out of kindle and do the same. Finally, do another one with a single log and do the same. You'd need to allow one or two days altogether. (I think you got lucky it didn't crack)
@@eyesofthecervino3366 It cracks because of the presence of bubbles of air and droplets of water in the matrix of the terracotta structure. you can prevent the cracking by increasing slowly the temperature, doing this the matrix has time to dissipate the stress generated by the variation of the volume of air and water droplets. you can do it burning a small fire into the kamado or you can also put the pot into the oven at low temp for some hours. you can also put all the pot in water before doing all this steps, this also help because it reduces the thermal shock
