With my first-hand experience with Singapore, what I found is a bit different from the usual impressions Hongkongers have of the Lion City.
Having moved from Singapore to Hong Kong, I had the initial impression that both countries were very similiar, seeing how they were once colonised by the British. After living here for a while, my perceptions have changed.

It’s quite interesting to observe, understand and appreciate different culture and custom.
Before 1997 there were many from Hong Kong migrated to Singapore and some started to move back thinking that Communist China is serious about maintaining the way of life for the people of Hong Kong. Unfortunately the confidence in the promise failed to materialize even though 50 years not up yet. The Chinese Communist Party cannot be trusted because it rules with deceit and tyranny.

@@MsKarman Compare to Taiwan, Singapore is better for English education, probably the best in Asia, although Philippines and Malaysia are comparable too.
香港肯定有很多綠化嘅地方, 例如:大自然嘅行山徑, 天然嘅海灘, 香港嘅優點你全部隻字不提, 我本身喺星加坡住咗幾年, 唔係你講到咁好, 天氣非常之熱又潮濕, 幾乎每1分鐘都要飲汽水解渴, 食物又油膩, 十分難食，西餐也不正宗，我對生活非常之有要求，寧願住返香港半山，死都唔去星加坡住， short trip is fine 😅😅😅

1. 我個人覺得新加坡乾淨既主要原因係因為客工頻頻打掃，某些人的公德心還是有待改進。HDB電梯裡面偶爾會有人故意小便。
2. 新加坡覺得唔太熱可能係由於樹木多，建築物之間有一定既空間，通風好。我好懷念我四美間屋窗外果幾棵大樹。
3. HDB冇得輸。平靚正。我間都千一呎。
4. 新加坡社會同政府真係好講規矩，效率超高，俾人好有安全感。英語普遍使用，法制健全，使用英制普通法，同國際社會完全接軌。
5. 新加坡戰略民用設施，比如供水，已達到自給自足。
6. 新加坡能達至自我軍事防禦，抵抗來自鄰近國家之軍事威脅。
7. 新加坡可完全自主制定本身國家政策同長遠規劃。
8. 新加坡樟宜機場比赤鱲角機場更方便。如果辦好Online check-in，車又唔塞的話（TPE轉ECP一段要小心！）真係一個小時之內可以由出發點到候機室（包括Woodlands或Tuas)。
9.響新加坡如果以本地人既生活方式生活，唔買車，少出去要收GST同Service charge既地方，生活成本唔貴。超市物品價錢同香港差唔多（有時甚至會俾香港便宜）。

限于國土面積, 新加坡食水不可能自给自足, 只能通过各种方法減少對馬來西亞水供的依赖.
@@johnyong2011 同JOHOR個供水協議好快到期，聽講亦唔會續期。新加坡用海水化淡加污水處理模式同有效全國集水系統應該可以應付國內需求。水源亦唔應該單靠鄰國。我覺得新加坡響呢方面做得非常成功。
@@user-fd4gj2no8q While "HDB電梯裡面故意小便"-ing down from 15th floor, somebody might take the lift at 13th floor and you're busted. Still more practical to do it in common drains. btw who does this in Singapore anymore, duh. Just hit a coffee shop, tons of them.

In Malaysia, many still live in landed house. Myself , live in a 3 storey house ( 23 ft × 75 ft) . With 3 + 1 room( a maid room) . 5 bathroom. Worth RM 1.3 million now. ,( S$ 430k / HK$ 2.4 mil) .
Singapore used to be very hilly. But the government had levelled the land and used those hills to reclaimed marine parade.
Hong Kong also reclaimed some land, but probably not as much as Singapore did.

Happen once I company my wife go back HK at the summer and the heat really kill me, but I look at the temperature is just 32% why it drives me crazy.
After I found out because the buildings and the crowd's is so cramps, the humans heat causes my holidays moods gone 😪
The summer in HK is hot and humid. You better stay in shopping malls. It’s better after rain or typhoons.
在台灣真的就很特別，有能力住的特別好貧窮的只能租當然南北差距很大在鄉下3百多萬可以買一棟三樓的房子，所以教育真的在台灣很重要
台灣地方大，南北各自有自己可取之處

@@a0956010879 新加坡比台湾发达。如果要学英语的话新加坡也是更好的选择。不过台湾的确是很多华人喜欢去的地方/国家。可是日本应该比台湾更受欢迎吧，非常多华人喜欢去的国家。

HK's police presence can be felt more. One can see policemen patrolling in Tsim Sha Tsui. Lesser police presence in Orchard Road. Maybe, they are in plainclothes.
This point is very interesting. I haven’t noticed before.
No need police presence. Cctv everywhere. Once the crime is committed. If serious, within hours, the accused will be arrested and charged.

Yea you are right. My HK friends always say HK very small. But after looking at the statistics I told them wah HK is bless with more land you can do so much more, you can have 5 more theme parks for tourist whereas Singapore has to squeeze here and there! For example when we have the Marina gardens by the bay, the entire Marina south entertainment strip is demolished. And there goes the steam boat, KTV, game and bowling alleys which love birds usually goes (No wonder singapore marriage birth rate so low), it was just another world there. You also right on the living here is preferred by family orientated age group like those in the 40s. On the whole its a good place to work and not bad to start the family. All HDBs precint have good play grounds and kindergarten.
Don't talk cok lah. Marina Place was just filled with ah bengs and ah lians, NOTHING good came out from there. Canto disco right? Steamboat right? Just SS breeding ground. Good that Sg gov tore them down. You use your brain and think who contribute more to GDP - some tattooed chow ah sengs or high-end chip players? And because gov tore them down, Sg marriage/ birth rate low? I think your IQ lower than our annual birth rate.

@@dantlanz2225 Its not true that only SS bengs and lians frequent that place. Marina south was frequented by couples from all backgrounds who would moon light there until whatever time. During the evening, you can see some of them flying kite until dinner time, they can find dinner easily after that. Marina south rocky beaches are the best to hang out for couples. Those are stretches without any street lights and therefore gave a lot of privacy, After a good dinner or KTV or bowling session, Couples would hold hands and head out to the beaches to enjoy the cool breezes from the sea and the cool fresh air. In front of you is the sea and lights far away ships anchor in the worlds busiest port. Around you are soothing sound of the waves against the rocks and quietness. Best of all it is centralized and accessible by MRT. Sure you can go to East Coast beach and Changi but the combination of activities is not the same . If you did not know this too bad you missed out the good old days.
Even if you close this place down, SS will breed elsewhere.

1. Temperature can be as low as 22°, once only. As high as 35° quite frequently nowadays, or feels like it.
2. SG is quite dirty, people either local or foreigners litter everywhere, quite sad. They have no respect for my motherland. Cleaners clean it e every day..so you may not see thrash often. There's rats around, just not as much nowadays. We have system and resources to deal with all these aspects. But am quite ashamed when others praise us so highly. Thanks

Pardon me, typo your name wrongly, Karman.
The big differences between HK & Sg are: (1) Sg’s public policies which is wide & holistic taking into account of well being of the country & its people. Hence its government and authorities agencies / institutions have to consider a wide aspects and have inter-agencies consultations prior to making a policy / decision. (2) The trust & bonding / support between govt & its people. (3) The ruling party has to show results to win its election and continuous mandate to govern once every 4 years. So ruling party takes & makes decision after thorough consideration and now for just the time being but for future generations as well. (4) HK public / subsidized housing is a flop because its housing policy is to make immediate profit by selling land to private developers without due consideration of affordability for its general population. Also, the hills can be flattened soil use to reclaim land. HK forgot the lessons from the ancient Chinese “愚公移山” concepts. Sg’s HDB was set up with the vision of providing affordable housing / home to at least 80% of its citizens so that each family has a decent home and can concentrate in their career & 安居乐业。

@@MsKarman 你哋填海多，但你哋仲好多山。我地70年代好多山都冇左, 都唔知幾多山都掘出黎填埋啲海。所以你行路尤其是喺政府樓區，就覺得平。但係你去舊私人住宅區就易啲搵到山路同斜坡。
政府樓區及購私人住宅區原來有這個分別
@@MsKarman 因為大部分私樓喺60 70年代建立，大部分因為係新起政府唔收購呢啲地皮，因此嗰啲山未拆。
長知識
新加坡是积极的填海征地，增加可用土地。香港政府是让地产商来控制土地，政府也没去积极的增加可用土地，主要问题是地产商会用尽方法，包挂政治来反对政府征地，这都是利益关系。新加坡政府是强势的为新加坡人谋福利，相反的香港政府没有能力去抗衡地产商的实力导致香港民生住宅问题非常严重。香港在董建华下台后就已经失去机会了，民主运动搞得香港破烂不堪。
你觉得新加坡法律有需要改善的方面吗？
這方面未有足夠了解，有些法律是挺有趣的，要小心，不要誤墜法網

Taiwan is constantly under the threat of war with mainland China and its people are mostly local Chinese with very limited view of the International Community. Always thinking only that the Chinese are the better people.
