    lol in HK it is stressful to eat sometimes, the moment we sat down they were expecting us to give the order immediately. Once when I was eating the polo bun the auntie already took back the plate for washing. very efficient lol. I think suits guys who eat fast.

      Totally understand what you mean. They need to increase the table turnover rate, that can really give stress to customers. 😝 Office workers or blue collar workers like going to cha chaan teng, quick & efficient.

    My personal experience working in HK, people leave work late not because they are hardworking (I meant those that I know, of course not everyone) but they spent a lot of time talking/complaining during the working hours and even if there isn't urgent stuff to do, they will still stay late, with the mentality that the later you stay the more hardworking or busy u are. Then the next day they will complain how late they've worked yesterday and the time could have been used to do actual work. Personally, if I have dinner plans, regardless in HK or SG, then I will plan my work accordingly to finish on time or do it later after dinner, because heading to the restaurant later will usually mean no seats or have to queue. Also given that its Covid situation where most eateries close at 10.30pm, most of us adjust the meeting time to earlier time so that we can have more time to catch up.

    before we have Cafe.. we have Coffee House... Coffee House and Coffee Shop is different... Coffee House is a somehow a high class dining house where it not only act as a cafe, but you will also be able to order simple western dish too like fish and chip, steaks, sandwiches and atas coffee

      Water in restaurants are mostly free because they charge 10 percent service charge

  • @sparklefreeze87
    @sparklefreeze87 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    We don’t do set meals because we like options. If 2 people go eat, we can have 6 different dishes to share. And a lot of times people will ask if they can change items in a set menu, so honestly it’s just easier if they don’t do sets at all, unless a set meal is discounted a lot.
    Water is not free because they want you to order actual drinks since it’s the highest margin items on the menu.
    Actually if the food is served very quickly in restaurants here, customers get upset. I feel like eating out is a time to get together and relax and unwind, so service has to be good and not rushed. It’s acceptable in SG to tell the kitchen to serve food slower if the restaurant is not too busy. If you’re looking for a quick meal like lunch on a work day, you would go to a hawker or takeout instead.

There are also coffeeshops which can be stand alone not with HDB blocks. While usually hawker centre is usually located next or near a wet market. But I have also seen hawker centre which is not with wet market.
      As for size, usually coffeeshop have around 7-10 stalls, but I have seen really big coffeeshop which can go up to close to 20 stalls.
