  • Monday’s clean-up was unreal!
Without volunteers, sponsors near and far, and local businesses that provided equiptment and labor, this would not have been possible!
A special Thanks goes to the events sponsors, Tread Lightly! And Overland Expo foundation.
    Vital Equiptment and operators:
    Kirby Nagelhout Construction
    Arbor 1 Tree Service
    WT Equiptment Rentals

    Dump runs- 10k+ lbs
    Tires/Hazmat- 1700 lbs

I never thought watching tractor videos of you and Grumpy would end up with me cleaning up other peoples trash but it did. Thanks and keep up the good work.

People truly are the worst inhabitants on planet earth. I hope they can sell scrap (and vehicles) to help offset the cost of keeping these areas beautiful and free for use. I'm not going to hazard a guess on how much you guys collected to throw away but I'll be horrified at the final tally. It seems like it would have been a lot more efficient to bring in (if available!) a shredding machine and roll off containers to shred those vehicles and put the shredded material into the containers for carting out. The next biggest problem (and possibly insurmountable) is oil and other fluids coming from the shredded engines, axles etc. Maybe bring up the idea to the organizers?

Edited to add: someone in our area stopped us to tell us their vehicle was disabled and we were free to haul it away... the cars were adding up even as we cleaned!

There is a hierarchy with homeless people.
Those with running vehicles are "almost" not homeless, some do work and sometimes manage to recover.
That is the reason why so many of these vehicles look like repairs had been started. There is a real desperation amongst these people to not end up with a car that does not run because then they are just a moment away from being on the street for real.

It's truely infurating that so many people in America do these kind of things all across America and how few are able to clean up after them. Thankfully there are those like came together for this event. Thank you all.

Big big thanks to you and those that make these clean ups happen. It’s sad that these clean ups need to even happen in the first place. However, these videos are important so that as a community we can all see the unfortunate reality of what’s happening in our beautiful central oregon. We’re all so blessed to be surrounded by incredible beauty that unfortunately isn’t respected by some individuals. If my work schedule allows I’d love to get involved and help reclaim our beautiful Deschutes National Forest.

A friend of mine here in California has 3 of those 6x6 X military wreckers/crane trucks. They are awesome off road when big mussel is needed. And he uses them in winter for yanking big rigs out of snow banks. When others are rigging to wench a big rig out. He hooks with a really big strap and yanks then out and back onto the road. His scene is cleared and on to the next while others are still fighting wenching from snow banks. He has used them for off road airplane crash recoveries those 6x6 trucks are big brutes and are a great tool to have

Out riding dirt bikes long time ago & there was a pickup dirty side up! There were four if us so we stopped to watch. The owner and his buddy pulled it out and rolled right side up. Then they popped the hood, pulled the oil dip stick out.
Then he pulled all the spark plugs out then went around and got into the drivers seat. My three buddies like looky Lou's and stood two on one side with one on the other while leaning into the engine compartment just as the ignition key was turned!
Oil sprayed out of every cylinder just soaking my buddies! I laughed so hard my ribs still hurt 40 years later. The truck owner looked at them like they were in his way, never said a word and went on to put the plugs back in.
My buddies were good guys had a lot of fun with them! I'm the only one left from that little group!
    Good times!
    Good video!

@@CaseyLaDelle @William Lloyd - thanks for clarifying. was unsure as the final staging area appears to be the same as that earlier video. I didnt spend as much time in the backwoods on that side of the cascades as I did on my side (Roseburg). Except for the Richardson Ranch /Priday agates near Madras. Lots of summers there. I love watching your videos so I can see new areas that I want to go wander around in. Again, major kudos to everyone helping "Keep Oregon Green" (my little throw back to the 70's). Now if only people would remember the old mantra of "pack it in, pack it out" you guys would not have to hold these events.

Remarkable & laudatory effort by so many, to clean up the natural forest. Casey did his part and others theirs, and with the right equipment & assist the project was a roaring success. I don't live in or near the area, but I can appreciate the time, effort, expertise & equipment needed to pull this off. Thanks for filming and reporting. Very compelling & important.

Great job by you and all of the volunteers cleaning up the forest and hopefully it doesn't get littered up again so quickly. Unfortunately as you pointed out in this video there are a lot of people who are contracted to do clean ups on a property and will charge a person for a landfill and intentionally dump the mess into a national forrest to increase their profits and rather than pay for the landfill charges.
You definitely need one of those heavy tow rigs with the skills you already have you could increase your capacities for off road recoveries and add some great TH-cam content. 👍
