The reason for a spreader bar is so you have to use wood block(s) to hold the chain/ strap away from a part that you don't want to damage, the wood block(s) could/ might slip out of place then possibly cause damage.
Thanks for another great video John All the videos you posted the last few days helped me get through a rough time I am glad you got your steering tire problem fixed As always be careful and stay safe and I will catch you on the next video
Harbor Freight sells wax marking crayons. I would mark the position of the drive shaft in relation to the yolk so it could be put back together in the same position. A lot of reviewers are convinced it does not matter if you reinstall it 180 ° as originally installed. It is good practice and does not take very long to do. I also would wrap the end of the drive shaft in some Ziploc freezer bags to keep everything together and also put the other parts in a bag in the driver's compartment. Thank you for being careful. Other people don't realize that if something goes wrong, it costs a lot of money to repair it.
Man, I thought for sure you were going in the drink. This was my first time watching and I spent the whole time on the edge of my seat. Excellent job Bro. I'll be a regular for sure. There are a handful of other Wrecker/Rotator vid's that I'm subscribed to. Stay safe out there my man. Much success ! ! !
I love watching your videos. It really gives you a new perspective of what a heavy tow truck operator does. . My only suggestion would be to have a holster for your remote so you would always have it on you when you need it.
You got the job done, which tells me your learning. Good job, I’d suggest watching some other heavy recovery content and see what u can do differently/better. I’m sure it’ll help on your journey. Good work.
Hi Guys. Your Coffee ☕️, partner here, everything looks amazing. Still waiting for the mailing address. But is ok. Now, those chains should be facing in, so you don't get hurt. 😊😊😊, have a wonderful week
Hey man, I'm sure you've seen in a lot now, but Yutube comments tend to be full of arm chair experts who would do it in a "better" way. Don't let them get to you.
First time watcher, I know one thing your funny as hell, kind of like the Don Knotts of tow truck drivers!! You're really apprehensive on every move you make, only halfway through the video haven't even seen what you look like, do you look like Barney are you shaking lol!!
A tip; scrounge some old wide type "scrunchies" from wife or girl friend and use them to put over the end of the drive shaft to keep bearing cups in place. Used to use old work socks to put over the whole end but resented the sacrifice.
You should check out the tow trucks in England (Not the flat beds). They use spreader bars and lift right from the wheels. If you had a spreader bar it would have made this a simple job!
Why would the front hubs fill up with water after only 12 hours? Those red plugs are designed to keep out rain and mud for extended periods of time. There was no need to tow it.
Hey ..... Re think this ,,,, Back up to water truck. Extend " Under Lift Boom as deep as possible along frame lift points. then Top Boom extended to front of Water Tank in the space between Cab and the tank with a " Y " chain , Then LIFT the UnderBoom to get her Level ,, then Pull backwards with Top Boom and Under Lift slowly at same time. The Whole Project being UPWARDS & Backwards at same time the Exact Opposite of what put it On and In that pond to begin with. HWY 401 Recovery. ❤️🩹 We go Big Up Here ......🇨🇦
Hello My Good Brother, EXCELLENT JOB MY FRIEND! If I may suggest if not you can tell me to shut the H up, but it’s just a friendly suggestion. And that is I would have never swung the truck over to get it back to landing, #1 swinging it made all the more potential for your blocks to shift and wheels to turn on ya. # 2 you had to swing it over the electrical outlet another potential danger. So to eliminate that all you had to do was boom it backwards straight back would have had a lot more control on the blocks of wood and truck steering shouldn’t have moved going straight back, hell you could have also hopped in the truck since it runs and reversed it slowly back on land with your boom remote in cab with you of course. Just my friendly 2-Cents probably wouldn’t have chipped away at your nerves as bad backing it straight also. But hey I’m a nobody lol I surely don’t run a big ass rotator as you do you are the one with the nerves of steel my Brother. At the end of the day you handled it precisely! God Bless My Friend..
You make a very good point. With the truck raised up, the wheels don't have to go up a 90° incline and as you back the water truck, you can give it more cable with your remote control. That seemes like a very feasible idea.
Why not back up directly behind the truck then boom out over to front pick up boom in pull truck backwards towards your truck but what do i know i build showers
The troublemaker that probably caused this is probably watching you deal with it. I tell you just ridiculous. What people would do for fun at cost of others
I've never marked a driveshaft ever and I've done plenty of my own and others drive shafts never needed to mark them ,they have their own settings you can't mess them up even if you wanted too. Well maybe you can and people can do anything they put their minds too. Lol
@@wynottgivemore9274seen a mechanic switch every part in the front, back, and under a tiny Tacoma, all the suspension, unjoints etc, chasing a shake the owner said it always had, only, he had just told us he did rear u joints in it, I told pat, the mechanic, for shits and giggles, Rotate the driveshaft 180 and put it back in, he came into my work, Napa, the next day and handed me 20$ because on his way out, he said to himself, I bet ya 20 bucks the shaft isn’t the problem…. Therefore no, driveshafts don’t have their own settings, whatever that stupid shit u said means……
@@Ittybitty-o6y i don't know what you are talking about. I stand by my original statement. You can't install a drive shaft wrong unless you try . There is a specific place for the ujoints to sit in and cant accidentally misaligne them.
After you lifted the front of the truck up why didn't you just get in it and back the truck up you could have sat in front of the in the cab and control your winches going back out when you backed up easy peasy Japanese easy
@ 3:50 pm ….. Great recovery!! But if I could suggest something don’t be soooo descriptive of what you are doing, it makes you in competitive. Get yourself some soft shackles, the go through wheels a lot easier. And I might add don’t be afraid of water unless you are made of sugar. Otherwise you did a great job.
Very hard to watch with all the self doubt. Thank goodness for the fast forward option. Hour video that shouldn't be more than 20-30 minutes. Good recovery.
The effort you put into staying out of that pond was nothing short of amazing, and quite entertaining.
Rim sling, spreader bar, endless loop maybe....😊
You are so right about that rim sling and spreader bar
The reason for a spreader bar is so you have to use wood block(s) to hold the chain/ strap away from a part that you don't want to damage, the wood block(s) could/ might slip out of place then possibly cause damage.
Why would a wrecker have a spreader bar on it?
It's not a rotator...
I'm a female and you made the recovery so engaging, educational and entertaining. Gr8 job Bro! Thx

The remotes on our newer landolls have necklaces and I’m super jealous.
Statewide is the new LKQ of towing companies.
Great work that 50 can make easy work of that.
a spreader bar

Your smoking crack comment 😂 got me to subscribe! Keep the videos coming driver!
Very good work with this one looking good 👍👍👍👍👍💪😊
Could you get a bigger block?
I think you did a wonderful job getting that truck out of pond that water truck..........
hubs are ok. they run in wet conditions in other parts of the country where it rains
Amazing job you are the right guy for that job!
New subscriber here, that was a very good job. PETER LINDOP UK. 🇬🇧
It's like that one part in the movie holes
You a smart dude. Knows how to improvise over a water dip. Great video
One thing I've seen another company does when they drop a drive shaft is put the parts in a plastic bag and put them on the driver's side floor!
This tow guy is good at his job👏🏽👍🏾

I was waiting for the SPLASH! NO, I DID NOT SAY, hope for. Thanks for interesting video. U a hoot.
I hope you don't forget your 5th wheel hook that is sitting on top of the box at the rear of the water truck !!!!!!!!!!!
good job getting that truck out the pond.i like your changle
Hey you have a similar set up truck only smaller version as Pepe’s in Los Angeles CA. Good looker!😊
Great video, well done on this and the channel!
Put your gloves on when carrying your wood!!!
Great job man
Awesome job by you!
Gave you a sub from Upstate New York. Where are you located?
Really like your sense of humor when you're making fin of yourself. I pull and RGN trailer and have meaningful conversations with myself!!! 😂
You need a boat. Maybe the golf course would have one. They've got to fish golf balls from the water hazards.
You da best fella 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏾
Awesome job
Why he didn't get a sperder bar and go through the cab?
WOW! 8 loved this video, mostly due to the running commentary by the driver! Well done, done!
Did you check to see if the water truck was loaded with water or not
Dude new to your channel, one question why you got all those keys in your pocket?
that was definitely a fun video to watch

I've been there, it does not take all day to do that
All that Truck and no spreader bar ?
It’s nice how you covered the customers name and dot number but left the license plate exposed 😂
Good job getting it done without causing any extra damage. Subscribe to the channel!👏👏👏💪💪💪
I am curious, and I wonder how much was the cost of that recovery?

I believe he could’ve put the third member in neutral he would not have had to remove the driveshaft at all pointless

Good recovery. Just an idea,Do you cary a " spreader bar"? That's adjustable
Drunk teens on a joyride 😂
Why wouldn’t you haul a couple of spreader bars on your rig?
Good work...

No inflatable on board?
Anyone notice left that tool on the ground he used to pull the chain through the tire?
Great job! You stayed out of potentially dangerous water & it was also too deep, yeah a job well done!!!
What is that pond that like a duck pond?
Funny as soon as I saw that lake and that truck I knew u were in Tucson lol
You need to get with Bailey's for some Rigging .soft loops for snagging wheels
WellDone,SIR😊
You’re wearing me out with all the trips back and forth, come on son, grow a pair and get in the water, take a shower when you get back.
We don't need arm chair critics. If he wants to avoid getting wet, he can. The job was done successfully, that's all that matters.
Why didn't you just back truck up once lifted?

Water truck looked thirsty, seemed to be sipping the pond. I was going to suggest draining the tanker. Look up other videos, you doing good.

Yeah, that water ain't gonna melt ya. And the guys insurance would cover damages.
nice work
Very good work.
I knew you would forget the remote you left it over on the driver's side of the truck running board.
It wasn't on the running board, it was IN the truck...wow...
Move the big rocks. Position tow truck correctly.
Why not back up directly behind the truck then boom out over to front pick up boom in pull truck backwards towards your truck but what do i know i build showers
Can you do a walk around of the truck
The troublemaker that probably caused this is probably watching you deal with it. I tell you just ridiculous. What people would do for fun at cost of others
Release the parking brake and let it roll back
😜
You should have had someone to help you. Would have had it done sooner and safer
Why not bring an assist. And who is not afraid of water.
Should mark the position of the drive shaft, for proper reassembling, in balance.
Would you swim in that shiznit? No, you would not...don't lie...

Did you mean "it makes you" sound incompetent? Slings through the wheels and a spreader bar would have been my go-to choice!
Do you see a f'n wet suit?
I agree.Just get on with the job Get in the water and get on.With then instead of pratting around
“…in competitive…” yah that’s what I thought too, then I realized there’s nobody here to compete with so he’ll be fine. 😂

Just back on the other side of the rocks at least you’re not too close to the pond
It would have been nice to have a boat. LOL
Cordless power tools will be a plus 😊 get a sponsor 😅
They save a lot of time. and Milwaukee and Bosch are the best.
Very hard to watch with all the self doubt. Thank goodness for the fast forward option. Hour video that shouldn't be more than 20-30 minutes.
Good recovery.
y u should invest in some soft shackles they work great and I know the synthetic main lines work great as well
would came right out pulling from back you put a lot of weight right on edge of bank pulling truck down where you did
Hubs should have been fine if it had good seals.
Ford still started and drivable after that 👏🏽
If that rig can't pick up that small water truck, you better go get your money back. P.S. The wheels are always the best option in that situation.
You were standing on the hubs, so they weren't under water.
Surprised you never put truck brakes bake on to stop it rolling back into water?
Wood blocks on the tires might work.
39:53 drivers side box 😂
