You are so right! I put a couple of handful of peanuts out for my Blue Jays at 7:30 am every morning and 5-6 Jays will come. They will sit and squawk for me if I don’t have their peanuts out on time!
I'm in Southern MN, and my Blue Jays (at least at my feeder) are not aggressive. They seem to coexist with the other at the feeder very well. Like this man said....nature is nature and its that way for a reason......so stop worrying about trying to exclude certain ones.........just put food out for everyone and stop worrying about it.
6:05 (time in the video) I put out a handful of peanuts anywhere between 6-9 am. I whistle in different directions and I say "come get the peanut", "come oon come get it" and usually they are there in 1-2 minutes looking right at the table planning their attack from the tree. They will also do reconnaissance by speeding over the area then alarm their friends. I call them f-16 fighters. A hawk was driven out by the blue jays. It was mayhem. I threw out a piece of raw bacon and it took it. Then it cam back perched on the bird feeder looking at me waiting for another piece so I gave it another one which I have on video.
We love the Bluejays at our place we have notice since we started feeding thru the winter we have been getting more each year along with the cardinals... Those Jays sure do like getting the peanuts out of the wreath we have for them it's pretty comical to watch them at it!!
Well, I made a friend with a blue jay, he flys, I ride my enclosed bicycle, we go 30 miles up the river trail. On the way bask he thinks he’s racing me. Gives me a head start, then flys by me near my head alone side of my bicycle. We were just getting to know each other when he was killed by a cat. Now I’m very disappointed with myself, very sad. I got a new bird stand feeder, other birds see me put food out but they don’t come around when I’m outside. One thing they like corn chips. Now there a new cat hanging about.
Great informative video, thanks for sharing 👌🏾😎 ❤️ I didn't need any convincing, they are my favorite wild bird. Wish I had more than 1 sole visitor. I'll take them any day over the European Starlings.
Last season i used to put out a cup full of shelled peanuts for them every day. Every evening it was cool watching them grab the whole shelled peanut fly off with it in its mouth.
My jays are not aggressive. My mourning doves ARE. The jays will wait patiently on the deck railing waiting for smaller birds like chickadees, titmice, nut hatches, cardinals, and finches to leave the open tray feeders before approaching. The doves will sit in the feeders and peck at any other birds, including other doves, that approach.
I felt bad for the birds this summer we had several days in the high 80s up to the 90s….for several days..I put water out for them…but I won’t feed them as the seeds draws rodents and squirrels..
I don’t feed birds. As they drawl squirrels..rodents..chipmunks..the rodents destroy my plants and flower bulbs..these birds run off all the other birds…I have 4 of them sitting on my fence right now as I’m writing this…my neighbors feed the birds..me and 2 other neighbors are upset because we have squirrel problems ..we get rid of every squirrel we can catch

Thank you for sticking up for my Jays :)
I love them!

Another neat thing is they will imitate hawk sounds to clear feeders for themselves.
i love bluejays thank you.

I agree. They are very entertaining birds.
Friends. Blue Jays are my favorite backyard birds. My friendly mockingbird would not care to hear that.
They are very smart and resourceful birds. Love them.

Absolutely!
Excellent point. Well expressed. Friends 👍
Thank you!
So what I noticed is that the more Blue Jays I have, the more confident other birds get and swarm my feeders. There's some strange correlation there.
Confidence in their burglar alarm ability

Jays killed 2 cardinal chicks. We dont feed sunflower seed any more. The lays left. The backyard is quiet.
@@Iforgotme That is what they do. It tugs at our hearts but it is there place in nature.
I’ve seen mockingbirds and Blue Jays fighting over territory. I have seen red tail hawks eating a baby Bluejay.

Doves can be quite territorial.

A clean, reliable source of water is the most important thing you can do for birds.
Love them , yah their bullies , but they also warn other birds about predators so to me it’s an even trade
@@markc3197 agreed 👍
They eat my dragonflies, that clean up my mosquitos
Several birds eat them. Including Purple Martins.
Pals
Agreed
Jays killed two Cardinal chicks. They are alarmist, spread fear among other birds and chase them away from seed feeders. Bullys. Killers.
