** LANDING GEAR **
For the landing gear as you can see from my maiden flight the 3d printed struts did not hold up. I did make them a standard length to hopefully make easy to find aluminum gear. The nose strut is 50mm from the top of the strut to the center of the axle with 30mm diameter tires. The main strut is 60mm from the top of the strut to the center of the axle with 50mm diameter tires. The shank from the retracts is 4mm.

THIS THING IS INCREDIBLE!! Watching you go from printing and building other companies planes was incredible enough. NOW YOU DESIGNED YOUR OWN PLANE!! This is just so sick!!!! God bless dude!
Thank you man, I appreciate your comment so much!! 😊
@@TroyMcMillan Gotchu brotha!
@@TroyMcMillancan you make a Southwest 737 - 700
@@TroyMcMillanand love the videos great job 👏 😊
That was smooth landing
Troy, you did it again! Printing started this morning. First the Airbus 321, then the DC-6, now this. Soooo much fun to build and fly. Thanks for all you do. Scott
Thank you so much, Scott!! I’ve watched all your videos, you do a great job building all those planes!
What a beautiful model. The sky is the limit with these printers. The materials get better and better each day. I would love to be able to learn this skill. I need to look for some classes. This 57 year old is still 18 at heart!!!!
Great work, Troy. I didn't think a 3D printed model of that size and weight was even possible. You are really pushing this niche of R/C forward.
The first one I built to scale was such a prototype, I wasn’t sure if it would fly! It did, and it’s been a lot of fun doing it again and again. Thank you man!
Have over 13,000hrs in CRJs and do a lot of RC flying too.
This was impressive man. Nice work!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
So cool!! That’s a lot of time! Thanks for watching! 😊
I watched this video 1 hour after it was done . It is truly great.
Thank you so much for watching! 😊
Next make a 3 story A390
This build seems personal! 😀
It definitely is!! 😊 A passion project, for sure.
Strong DC-9-81 vibes here. Amazing job!
This is fantastic 👌
This is effing Awesome!!! As an aviation geek who also has a 3d printer in his basement, you are inspiring me to build a plane myself!
Lol I have been trying to do the same for awhile now, it is very difficult, and frustrating, I would start very small and slowly work your way up, my first project was a motorised glider that didn’t work very well, then I went to full 3d printed, which was a bad idea, anyway
Start low, and go slow
Good luck!
I totally agree with there being lots of frustration along the way, ShadowCake. I feel like depending on which plane you do, that can make it even worse. Planes have come a long way over the years, you should give the 3D Printed Cub by 3DLabPrint a try. Truly easy to assemble and fly. And it’s free.
@@TroyMcMillan I have these little motors would the micro c47 be good for a beginner?
NIIIIIIIIIIIICE! That 900 to 700 option is awesome! 😁👍
I really like how the parts have male female joiners, they don't just butt together at the sections. Great design. I wish I had the hanger to store one of these planes.
Thank you! The connection method makes it so easy to build. Some of these planes end up suspended from the ceiling just to free up ground space lol.
I just wanna say your videos are the BEST educational videos for thin wall printing ever ! They actually go through every setting and show results and you get a great understanding of what setting causes what problem, and for newbies like me to printing that's just invaluable knowledge. And you share every setting unlike some other jokers that pretend to help you but really have other vested interests, you are completely HONEST and that gets you the best rating. Everything I've tested has done precisely what you showed it would. I use two crappy Ender printers, ender 5 and a 5 plus..... The 5 is god but the plus is a fiddly pain in the butt........ My prints improved about 700% after copying your settings and advice. So I THANK YOU , for being one of the few people on utube to be completely honest about every single little issue they have. You really are an awesome person to share such knowledge. Thank you mate from down under. QLD Australia.
Excellent from start to finish. There’s a story, you flew the CRJ-900, designed the model, printed it in a very practical way and then flew it. I’ve always loved the ramp appeal of a CRJ, the tailplane anhedral to the ‘mean’ nose down attitude on the ground. Love it.
Printing, building, flying, all perfect. Amazing job, beautiful plane. Congratulations and thank you for sharing here.
Looks really nice! Though Im a bit worried about the landing gears strength. In the video it looks like the only thing keeping them from twisting and coming off is a small screw tapped into the plastic which doesnt look very strong.
Yeah, I ended up replacing those for aluminum at the end of the video! You are right!
@@TroyMcMillan Ah ok I missed that part because it was under the category "Decals" which I skipped at first
EFIS COMP MON. Nice build.
Thank you!
Amazing work!
I didn't think you'd be able to top your last build...but here you are...topping your last build!
Absolutely brilliant!
I'd do one thing differently...somehow fashion a suspension in the landing gear to soften landing...but that's just my 2 cents...again, brilliant!
Thank you so much!! I appreciate it!
I totally agree, my intention is to try to find some aluminum struts with suspension in them to replace the ones on here eventually.
Very cool model and idea.
I will use it as s
A template and made a fiver model of it.
Loghter than 3d print. Not so expensive and huge diff in flight.
Very cool job !
Looks smooth mate. Awesome work
Amazing job planning, designing, printing and building! Cheers!!
Awesome!! I got to fly N942LR for Mesa Air Group when it was brand new in America West colors!! That was many moons ago! I am looking forward to the build and get this bad boy flying! Thanks for drawing this one up! I just bought the files.
Downloaded the STL files and ordered eSun filament. Can't wait to start printing this beautiful work or art. Thank You Troy for dedicating so much time to creating.
Stl downloadeded ? Plase
Did he recommend eSun filament?

awesome! I wanna build one! next plane for me!
🤪🤪🤪
Sweet!! I hope you do, I couldn’t recommend it enough. It’s such a fun plane! 😊
Truly amazed at your creativity! Love watching your video’s. Keep doing these fabulous videos!
Genius at work! Awesome job!
Troy has all the fun! Nice aircraft!
My 4 year old son DRAGGED me to the living room over this video. He cannot stop watching it!! ❤ I’m impressed!!
He now wants to build one!!
AWESOME!!! Your Fusion-360 skills are amazing.
📤📤📤
Amazing build Troy!
You should meet RAMY RC. Both of you can build something incredible together.
📤📤📤
You are very inspirational! Thank you for your video and the way you edit them to encapsulate a bit of the build with the flying final product. I'm inspired to print another flying model!
That’s a marvel of engineering! Hats off to you mate!
📤📤📤
Amazing build, print and flight!
I'm watching from Turkey, I'm 14 years old. You've put in a lot of effort, thank you, I'm thinking of doing it too😎🤞
amazing aircraft, maybe you could make a video of you showing design process of an rc airplane in fusion 360 give tips and tricks.
Thank you! I’ve been getting a lot of requests for that, i definitely plan to do it eventually.
Agree, was curious about the process as well.
Impressive engineering, Troy, you are definitely a master craftsman.
Amazing..! Very well done. What a lot of work, but so worth it.
Absolutely love how clean these builds are.
Nothing like airplanes and coffee! Can I ask a build of a Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar? I've always loved the twin boom, smugglers look of these aircraft.
Kinda cool seeing a plane I’ve got many hours in flying as an RC plane. Nice build and video.
Nice, print quality looks amazing
Great build Troy . Flown nice and scale in blustery conditions, well done .
Thank you so much!! 😊 I normally wouldn’t want to maiden it in such windy conditions, but I felt pretty confident the plane could handle it!
@@TroyMcMillan yep , looks like you nailed the CG . Flight looked really stable , excellent maiden.
That is so awesome. Just starting into 3d printing and want to try making one of your planes. What one should I start off with first? I have a Creality K1
which retracts did you use? the amazon link in the description doesnt work
25x27 servoless retracts. I’ll check the description in a bit and double check it works
Awesome congrats, absolut stunning. Looks like a great surface quality, nice job 👏👏👍🏆🏆
Nice job on design & print quality!
Working on CL-415 3d print myself!😉 Water scoop and dump system as well!
You should build the 747 Prototype
The 747 is a fantastic plane!
Troy please list the control harness in the wing to the product use section
Unbelievably cool, as usually with your design and build! Any plans for Beechcraft D18 any time soon?
Thank you so much!! I have so many cool planes planned for the next year or so, so probably not before then. But I would love to do that one some day.
Been saving up to buy an eflite playing but I'm now buying this. I had plans to build a CRJ 900 with foam in a couple months but I'd like to just print this cuz it looks really good. Good job!
Amazing work! I've learned a lot from your videos, starting to finish my first prints, doing small mods, but what you do is just on another level!
Keep it up!
That’s awesome to hear! Thank you!
BRAVO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey 📤 I have something for you
Milliam you are good doing this airplanes
Great to see you making beautiful planes. Sweet
Thank you so much!
You have inspired me to start printing planes. Started with the eclipson cub plane
What are the large connectors you used for the wiring for all the wing servos?
Wow ypur designing is really spot on. Excellent work. Waiting for a c130 😊
Thank you so much! That one is definitely on the list!
Hi Troy, I printed the CRJ 900, I would also like to print another scaled down to use 50 mm edfs, what percentage would this be. Thanks
😍Love your print!
ESUN is not selling their lightweight PLA anymore... Do you know if it will come back, or do you know a good alternative?
Great design and engineering 👍🏻. I love to see that more and more people do such awesome things with the right tools like fusion and 3D printer. Also shoutout to the clean and very smart details in the design.
Hey 📤 I have something for you.
Beautiful design
Wow, very cool! I opened my old logbook and I have time in that same tail number, love the Mesa livery
Hey 📤 I have something for you
I flew that plane when I worked at Mesa. Awesome job.
Great work .
Great job, good to see a new video from you.
Great job Troy!
Great job with the plane that is talent that is my favorite plane i love regional jets and watching you test it out was awesome 😎 great work keep going.
Hey Troy,Where can I find the retracts? The Amazon link says the page is not available.
Hey! I used to be a ramper at PHX and I worked on N942LR. Never thought I'd see it in RC form.
Troy that is awesome! Great work!
Thank you!
Great build looks awesome.😀
Thank you so much!
great job troy keep it up mate . love your work.
I really love your work. Could you please make a video about designing our won plane in Fusion 360?
Hey 📤 I have something for you.
Love it ! But i Really want a big dc-3/c-47 to print. Hope you can make it happen in the Future 💪😁
defiantly . i mentioned this to troy several time so far, keep asking
I would love a DC-3, Troy I'll pay!
I hear you guys!! That’s my absolute favorite plane and I just want it to be so perfect when I finally do! I will definitely do it though. What wingspan would you guys like?
@@TroyMcMillan Maybe like the dc-6 about 1800mm 😁🤩
@@TroyMcMillan 1300-2000 ish
Wow! Nice aircraft! I myself work at Challenger plant in Dorval Quebec Canada. This aircraft was extension of Challenger 600 series.
Another stunner... nicely done. Will the FMS 64mm 4S EDFs work? Fit?
I’m not sure if those would work, I tried to use the most commonly accessible brand and size I could use for this plane. If you do end up using them, let me know!
You wil need to cut the inlet lip of as it is molded into the ducting unlike the ones troy has used
Simply Brilliant
Great job Troy! What a great accomplishment. A beautiful job. Makes me want to put my 3D printer to work!
That was epic! Can't wait to try it myself after I find a few weeks to make one ;)
Hi Troy! Would you be able to make a video for how you did the CAD for the wing? I've tried several methods but haven't found one that doesn't feel like a ton of extra effort beyond what it should be. I'm curious as to what your design process looks like for internal structures - from the brief clip in the video it looks to be pretty simple and effective.
Hi Troy, Very nice and informative videos. I have watched your basic videos and need one question answered. What should be the first 3d printer that I buy to print printplane designs. Looking at Ender3 V2, but since its old, which one should suffice for today. Thanks. If anyone else has opinion or experience, they can help as well.
Bambu lab x1c, best printer you can buy
Excelente como sempre, Parabéns pelo projeto. já estava com saudades dos vídeos..
Awesom job! How long did this plane take to design in Fusion?
hello, please tell me, I have stl files from 3dlabprint, I can’t cut it in Cura, it only sees the outer walls and doesn’t see the inner ones, when cutting it comes out as a solid model, how can I set it up? thanks in advance
check your line width, it's thicker than the walls
I cannot download the STL drawings you provided. What should I do?
Do you have a complete parts list you would care to share.
Troy. I LOVE this plane!! I fly this all the time in MSFS. I bought it as soon as it was available to purchase. Seeing this one you created is blowing my mind. Sadly, I have a couple others that I bought and have never finished (3D printing can make you want to break things as I am sure you know...lol) So I walked away for a bit. But seeing this has given me a purpose. I WILL complete the others and fly them. Once I fly them I am buying this one from you. This is so beautiful! And the thought you put into it while creating it for various options is second to NONE!!!! I hope you will open your own plane store at some point (honestly, since I took a 10-month break from printing anything I have not looked at all your new vids and this was the first I saw....and again WOW!!!!!!!!!!) if you have not already. I have looked at this one and read your info about it. Why can't all plane creators put the time and effort into making their plane information so very detailed with build vids so that ANYONE can read and understand and then watch and follow your build. SO VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY (did I say very) helpful!!!! I have a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and I have to say, the models I have bought or gotten free so far are not the easiest as the print as info is totally missing (how to print various parts with correct STARTING settings for CURA) or only a few settings are mentioned. I could build these all day long as I have been building models for over 50 years. It's the 3D printing part that is honking me off! LOL Thanks again and I can't wait to get this and then fly it!!!
Greg
I am absolutely loving this build except Cura keeps falling on slicing F8.
One other part would not slice and I rotated it and it sliced.
I can’t get this to slice on Cura 5.6 for Ender 5 S1.
Please help me with this…
Really good job
One word Amazing
I need to get the nacelles printed but from the video it looks like there is a step between the nacelle and the fan inlet? This will be costing a fair bit of performance relative to a smooth inlet. That said I am considering 6S power system for my build as they are more efficient for the kind of flying this plane is intended for.
Your channel is very good, tell me one thing, which filament should I use to have a good impression and resistance to bad weather such as sun, serene and oil or gasoline if using a model with a combustion engine which polymer would be better to use to have more durability? of material?
Beautiful!!!
Thank you!
So impressive as always....
Looks awesome man! The whole 3D printing stuff is new to me and is intimidating but maybe I’ll venture into it. Great flight and landing!
Did you use any Lightweight PLA in this plane?
