I almost thought that there will be no new video coming but now I’m happy to see a new one!
Time flies!! I can’t believe it had been that long since my last video.
Welcome back Troy . Great project looks fantastic in the air .
Thank you! I love this classic airliner, it’s so cool to see it flying
can you please make A Tutorial how to Model RC Airplanes? :)
Definitely plan to do that someday!
Welcome back man, your videos jave inspired a few of my friends and I to make 3d planes!
Me too
I love to hear I have inspired you guys to build some 3d printed planes!!
I guess I'll have to do a mod to get steering. But compared to all the other 3d printable models these are the cleanest prints I've ever made. Stunning work.
To avoid maiden crashes I install an Aura 5 Lite in most of my planes as it keeps the plane level and once I get to a safe altitude I switch it off to trim the plane. It also has an assisted launch feature for hand launching that gives me enough time to launch the plane myself and then get back to the sticks.
I saw your post on the forum! I’m checking it out now. Thank you for the heads up!
amazing

Wow
@@Asian_Avgeek-real ye
My pops flew these for both EAL and FDX.
I’m going to have to build him one to hang in his office and one to fly.
Can’t wait for your settings video! Really appreciate what you’re doing for the hobby!
Thank you
Im looking forward to the BambuLab settings video
Uhh.... look at the documentation. Its all there.
I will get it posted as soon as I can
Really like the 727. I've never 3D printed a plane and this one might be my first. Would like to scale it up by 50% to slow it down and better visibility.
That was the goal for this plane to inspire people to build it as a first plane. It is small cheap and easy to build to get into the hobby. That is the beauty of this hobby you can definitely try and scale it up in Cura to print it out a bit larger you may have to do some custom fab to get some of the electronics to fit.
Really enjoyable to watch your creations and flying them . Thank You , Sir .
Thank you!
You should make the Boeing 737 Max 9 with funcional flaps and retractable landing gear, i would buy you.😁
Yes a 737 would be a good build for sure.
@@TroyMcMillan yess
Great design work again....Perfect weather, sun, no wind.....Ours is terrible 4 months of wind and rain....no letup ..🤔😳🇬🇧
Ya the desert is nice right now but in a few months it will be 110 degrees out and to hot to do anything outside.
@@TroyMcMillan we get 6 months of crappy weather and continuous wind and rain....I have been to Arizona btw, flew in from LA as I recall...😏😀🇬🇧
Holy cow Troy you have taken this ball and run with it! I bought a P1S about six months ago and started out with Authentikit flight-sim stuff then on to R/C with 3DLab Cub, then Stearman and just started the B-17. Looks like another Boeing for my next project because I am definitely building this puppy. Are you going to design a DC-3 - please, please please...
Great choices with build order. The DC-3 is high on my list for next builds for sure.
@@TroyMcMillan Took the Cub for it's maiden flight yesterday, lasted about 14 seconds (ha, ha) but I had already printed out two extra fuselages and a spare wing in anticipation. Problem was the motor mount broke loose.
@@pi.actual Dang well good thing you planed ahead a bit the second build always goes much faster. Good luck with the next flight :)
ooooooooh one of my favorite liner 😍😍 bravo Mister, love it !
Yes!! It’s such a classic plane
One of my favorites too!
Welcome back!! what a awesome plane, and great design! well done!
Thank you!
Beautiful!!! You seriously need to do a DC9-31.
That’s such a cool plane
Looking forward to watching the video on how to print using the bambu x1c
Awesome I will get it up soon.
It's 727 200 rc is beautiful🎉❤😊
He's back! Are they any planes for a video going into how you design for LW PLA in Fusion 360? I'm especially interestedly in how you make panel lines and the internal structures of the wings/fuselage.
There are a few videos out there you have to search for them and they may not be specific to airplanes but you can use the same concept for airplanes.
Been waiting for a long time for another build.... because of you I gotten into 3D aircraft.... Going to do this one in TWA livery
Yes TWA would be awesome. I love that you got into this hobby from my videos!!
Looking forward to the Bambu X1C settings video
I will get that uploaded soon.
Good work Troy. And thanks for showing that crashes. It makes me feel better having totalled quite a few new planes in my time!
Ya I can definitely edit all of them out and not show the crashes but it is parts of the hobby and guys crash rc planes all the time including myself. It is not always sun shine and roses. :) Cheers
Amazing video loved every second of it
Really nice design and build!
Especially like the aileron servo torque rod implementation.
Thank you!
You are an inspiration ✌️ keep doing what you do
Thank you
I do enjoy the convenience of re-printing parts over sourcing them locally or online. I too have crashed a 3d printed version on the maiden and it hurt, but pain is learning and I learned a lot. I will take a 3d printed plane/ 3d printed drone over a factory one any day when it is just flying for fun and pushing limits. When I want great video or all the features, I prefer my DJI drone or my micro turbo timber.
Still better built than their commercial airliners
The 727 was designed and built before the McD-D take-over, before accountants supplanted engineers. The 727 is a great airframe.
Totally agree, it’s a classic airframe.
I am a "Airliner Nerd" and bought the files yesterday. In the meantime I printed W1R and W1L and what should I say. Amazing. Thx. offering this files. It gives me also a perfect base for my own ideas like retracts , lights aso. cheers Rudi
Thank you! Have fun with the build that is definitely the beauty of building your own plane you can customize it as much as you would like. Cheers
@@TroyMcMillan Thank you very much. Even with my old Ender 3 V2 and the rec. Profile entries I have no stringing. So Cool !
Outstanding
you should design a really small 3d printed RC plane, I recommend the Hummel Ultracruiser
Nice to see you back. Beautiful planes.
Thank you
Perhaps you should mention that the servos should be centred before being glued into position, particularly the aileron servos. Most new builders might not remember to do this. Otherwise, I’m really enjoying your videos and looking forward to print the 727. I most likely will enlarge it to accept a 64 mm and light weight retracts.
Ya that is a good point actually to make sure the servo is centered. That will be cool if you enlarge it send me a video if you do that will be cool to see.
@@TroyMcMillan
Will do 😋👍
I work for fedex express and to see a 727fedex is a honor. Good work man.
Thank you I appreciate this comment. I have seen a lot of Fedex 727 planes around at random airports over the years and definitely wanted to do this scheme.
No problem man.
Thanks Troy, recovering from back surgery so this will keep me busy! Printed out some test sections and test painting etc, detail is awesome, X1 Carbon does a fantastic job (got mine after I emailed you last). I'll send you a pic when im finished!!!
Definitely a good project to pass the time. Hope that you heal up fast. Cheers
Great job! Thanks for sharing!!!!👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Awesome video, you inspired me and I built mine!! Thanks!
This is awesome to hear!!
fabulous! sold! i'm going to make one with PSA markings!
Yes PSA scheme I almost did that for my build with the classic smile. :)
Now get a Cessna 172
I love your job.
Thank you it is very fun for sure.
Thankyou you are awesome
I wish we could work as a team creating innovative designs
I am a programmer
I appreciate you! designing planes is my hobby so my schedule for working with it can be inconsistent at times
Love the way you did this! I have a couple of 30mm EDFs, and waiting for someone like you to design a 3d printed A-10 Thunderbolt I can put them in.
Ya and A10 with 30mm would be fun. 3dlabprint just finished up there duel 70mm version
I'm mostly impressed with the LW-PLA cleanness. I'm still trying to tune my printer for LW-PLA.
Thank you! Most of the cleanness is due from the design. I designed it to be printed in vase mode so there are no retractions. As long as you have temp and flow you don't need any retraction settings for the entire build.
is the EDF less efficient because there is no direct intake from the front? or it doesn't really matter?
It doesn’t matter here. There are intake vents all along the underside of the plane so the EDF is getting plenty of airflow. I also did thrust tests to make sure that the EDF had max performance
Looks great! Love the 727.
She's a classic
Kudos on some spectacular modeling. Well done!
Thank you
You have some really nice design features incorporated!
Thank you
Need Aerosucre livery and fly it skimming the runway like the real one! 😂
Yes that would be a cool livery
I was literally about to purchase your STLs for a CRJ700.....now im going to have to reconsider because thats awesome.
The CRJ is an awesome build also. The key reason I designed this plane is to make something a bit easier to start with but still a cool plane to inspire people to want to build it.
Great printing / design, looking to see file and Banbu settings / material used. Great job as always !!
Thank you I will get a video for the Bambu soon.
Hermoso trabajo saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱 me encanta el aeromodelismo Rc
Gracias
You are back! Thank you so much! I missed your videos!
Thank you
This will be my first larger 3d print, first from you. I have a smaller Ender 3 v3se, but it should work. More than likely just a lawn ornament, but still excited to start printing. I really like your shaft driven aileron idea. I would be interested in a DC-3 and a Cessna 206 on floats.
Awesome I love that this will be your first build. A DC3 is definitely in the future for sure.
Subscribed. Primary reason that it makes me feel better about my crashes! :) Nice content though!
Thank you!
Love it .
Thank you!!
Cool internal servo feature..!
Thank you!
@@TroyMcMillan Hey it got me thinking, have you lookind into using rc car parts...? Dogbone and similar shft drive parts might be a possability as well.
Heres a tip that works for me during handlaunches if you own Spektrum. Use an AR636 receiver with SAFE and if you have the Spektrum programmer use the Eflite 64mm F-15 template when you reprogram the receiver. Myself and a few club members have used this method in a dozen or more handlaunch planes and with SAFE active during launch the plane will not dive into the ground.
I use CC3D boards for stab and an old DX6i and the springs broke on the left stick, so I just added foam instead (making the stick a bit ... sticky) and I can choose whatever the good angle for my plane for launch and no issue
This is a great tip. Thank you!
Sick plane ✈️😎
Thank you
Amazing as always! Hoping you will design 3D models of the two coolest planes in history from my wish list, Cessna Sky Master, that’s the one with an engine in the front and another in the rear. A push pull. And from the 1930’s a Beach craft Stagger-wing.
Dang those are two really awesome planes for sure. Good recommendation
Very clever EDF position. :-)
Thank you
The 727 fedex one when u showed us that it lost a wheel reminded me of aerosucre 9:49
Yes it does
Yoooooooo hiiiiii🤩🤩
Super cool!
Thank you!!
Cool stuff
Thank you
Amazing work troy sir, btw sorry for the loss of your aircraft 😥
Thank you!!
@@TroyMcMillan Welcome
Welcome back I would make a PSA livery and nice 3D printing
Ya I almost went with a PSA paint scheme for this build myself.
Those are awesome. Man I need a 3d printer
Thank you. Definitely recommend a 3d printer it is endless fun
The Boeing 727 changed short-haul flights, while the Boeing 747 changed the Intercontinental routes.
Yes exactly that was my. motivation to build the 727. It was not the first jet airliner but it was the first to really change aviation history with access to flying to the masses.
I'm amazed that a 50mm EDF can power those planes. Looks like it does alright though.
Ya it works pretty well the 50mm EDF produces 950g of thrust on a 4s battery and the LW-PLA plane is only 780g RTF so it has over a 1 to 1 ratio The PLA FedEx build it was 1100g RTF so just less that a 1 to 1 ratio.
Too funny Troy. I haven't seen any videos from you in a while so I looked on your channel because I am contemplating buying a Bambu Lab printer and can't find much info out there about people using them for RC planes. I saw the link on this video to the X1. Would love to see a video about using either the P series or X series Bambu printers for Eclipson, Planeprint, 3DLabPrint, or your own designs.
Ya the x1 works good for printing planes but there are a few setting in the Bambu slicer that were hard to find to make the print work correctly. I will get a video out to show all the settings.
That was fancy CAD for sure. Too bad you did not spring for a FEA plugin...
True
Good to see you back making videos
Thank you!!
wau excelent,pls constellation 😍👍

Woot woot 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you
@@TroyMcMillanyeah buddy. Would love to see this in a 70-80mm with the AL-37 gear or something
@@410productions3 Ya I have had a few people say this it would be cool with a 70
Cool
Thank you
I'm so happy you're back with another video!
Does the EDF make the controls any different? I'm new to the hobby and have only flown a pusher trainer until now.
The EDF actually makes the controls much better. You don't get any left turning tenancy's like P-factor, etc with a prop. That is why this plane works great with not rudder and other prop planes try to turn to the left.
Are you using a stabilized receiver? Surely that would help significantly with launches. Easy to set up self leveling with FrSky stuff. Spektrum not so much from what I've seen (at least not to where you can customize it).
Ya it would definitely make hand launch much easier but I don't use any stabilizer receivers in any of my builds.
I bought you the a321 and is so fun to fly
Awesome I love the 321 I still have mine and its is definitely a fun one to take out for sure.
@@TroyMcMillan thats good. Can i put 6s to that plane?
10:58When it was beeping and you Fixed it It was about to play Tokyo drift😂
Yes lol
CL-415 wood be a cool one. Scoop and dump water.
Yes that would be cool
Would be sweet if you could show us around your design process in Fusion 😊
I get this a lot I will have to make a video for you guys
For extra toughness, I'd try 2 part expanding foam in the void spaces.
Ya that would add some strength but I don't want to add that much weight.
Hi Troy, I've just finished printing Fuselage 1 STL, what an amazing job you did making a spiralized print, can't imagine the hours to put together the model. Can't wait to see the end result! Quick question, what's the recommended KV for the EDF? I bought a 4300KV, would that make the job? Again, kudos for the design, don't want to diminish the work from other vendors but having a no retraction print is freaking amazing!
Thank you for the kind words. It did take a lot of time do design this with vase mode but it was my main motivation for the entire build to make it the easiest plane to print on the market.
Yes the 4300kv will work great that is the EDF I used I also used a 4900kv on my prototype build.
Have fun with the build!
Where's my Lockheed Constellation? My DC-6 is lonely 😆
Yes I need to build a Constellation for sure. I loved your paint scheme for the DC-6 sorry for the crash that was rough to see.
@@TroyMcMillan It was but like yourself you just go and print another. Looking forward to the 727 build soon. Thanks for all you do!
I would love to see it on an Iberia livery
Very nice aircraft, one main problem that i have with it is that the engine exhaust is a bit too big. Maybe use smaller edfs in the other two engine pods or move it in the no. 2 engine intake. It just really bothers me. Other than that, its an absolutely beautiful model.
Could you please make a Fusion360 Tutorial how to make our own planes?
That is a great idea. I would like also to see the whole project.
yeah. im a new designer of fusion 360 and i dont know to much.
Yes I get this question a lot I will get something together eventually.
Looks nice. It just seems these 3d printed planes often have a pretty high stall/glide speed. Something to do with the weight of this type of construction?
Ya that is where the LW-PLA version really helps a-lot and especially with a build this size you will save 300 grams. This reduces the weight per square inch of wing significantly.
Epic
Thank you
Thought you were dead..
Who says that!

Lol nice it's just the APU
Hey Troy, I love your attitude to the hobby, crashes happen, some are fatal, some repairable. I would like to ask, how do you save the Tail that didn't get damaged? I suppose you don't use debonder for the CA glue, so you just simply cut it (trying to be accurate by obeying the layer lines) or is there a different way of re-using the unbroken part of the airplane? I would like to see a vid where you repair some crashed 3D printed plane, I believe you already did video about that but I missed it. Btw I can't wait for the LW-PLA profile release for BambuStudio, I'm willing to pay for it! Obviously it won't use the max speed of the printer but the extrusion widths and speed settings are mandatory for us to have correctly set.
For my airliner builds they have a 3d printed ring inside the fuselage at each seam. So when I crash the planes I cut off the front and leave that ring in place it overlaps each part by 5mm. Then I take the part I had to cut and move it 5mm below the build plate in the slicer so it will line up with the part I cut off on the tail and glue them together. I most of the time print a few small tabes to glue in place of this new seam to make it line up and be strong. I have made a video of this process for my 321.
I have been getting a lot of questions about the Bambu setting I will get that uploaded soon.
I might add that you will need a reverse servo for one of the two elevators.
…..sorry, or just add the second servo to another channel.
Ya that is what I did just add it to a extra channel. You can use a Y harness for the ailerons, 2 channels for the elevator and one channel for the throttle. So you can still run this on a 4ch receiver.
How is the version with the gear steerable? I just noticed no rudder either.
Second Request for Information!
