Guys your audio was all over the place in this video. It is usually spot on. It wasn't just the loud music it was also low and inconsistent vocals. The crash was epic though!
@@FliteTest I think if Josh's CG was done a little further, then it could fly well in the air. I am a big fan of yours and I am excited to ask you that if you have any equipment that is not in use, send it to me. You don't lack anything, but I have very little equipment. I also make airplanes. Your fan is from Pakistan🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰. You must reply
When I saw that the engines had up-thrust of about 10° from being parallel (5:56) with the gold stripe (they should be pointed down), that meant the wing incidence is going to be much more than that. TOO much wing incidence will need way more DOWN than those elevators were ever going to deliver. The nose going STRAIGHT UP into a STALL was going to be the outcome and ALL the DOWN Josh was putting in wasn't going to help Humpty (Lil' Jesse) make it back safely together again. This experiment demonstrates why checking the wing incidence is a CRITICAL factor for a successful plane.
It amazes me how often Flite Test doesn’t check the CG of some of their planes; I don’t believe I saw a CG check in this video. Wing incidence is a little more involved to calculate, but at least balance the CG between the 1/3 and 1/4 mean aerodynamic chord. Or go a step further and use one of the dozens of free online calculators, haha. Although this was a great video with a spectacular ending. I just wish it flew for a couple flights before it crashed. 😂
Thank you for the message we do check CG on every plane we build unfortunately this one ended up with a little more wing incident than we thought and ultimately is the reason it did what it did
-Hmm, I’ll give you benefit of the doubt. Still a super entertaining video as always. -I’d recommend showing more of each plane’s CG and C.R.A.P. checks in future videos. Especially for your designs that you can’t test glide by hand before the first flight, like these big monster builds. -Thanks again for the great content!
@@RoboTekno Yeah, I saw the constellation wings on that bird looking a little too high in the front, worried that might happen, but hey, you win some you lose some!
At least as much of a problem as wing incidence, thrust angle. Pause at 14:12 and take a look at the angle on the motors. As long as power was applied, the nose was gonna rise.
What I find amusing is the expression of the Girl in the Red Shirt at 2:22. Is she wondering " What are these nerds up to now?" Or "Can I go home now?" It is a classic look I've seen too many times at the model flying field.
I knew there was a reason I love you guys... the TWA Super Constellation. I have 2500 hours on the USAF EC-121 (predecessor to the E-3 AWACS). The Connie was the finest 3 engine airplane ever built (if you knew ANYTHING about them, you'd understand). 😍😍

I love y'alls videos!!! I bought a drone last year and still have no idea what I am doing wrong!!! I've only taken it out 3 times and have crashed it at least 8 times. I followed all the instructions and still no good! I would love to see a couple of videos on prepping, setting up and then do some basic flying!!!!

Great video as always but as a number of people have mentioned the loud music made it very difficult to hear the voice track. I look forward to your videos and always play new ones on your channel before anybody else's. Keep producing them!
Never saw (nose cam aft) any down elevator applied to correct for the ballooning take off, and, all four motors had positive incidents, negative might have been better.
I learned a lot about aerodynamic and RC hobby because of you sir...As a beginner I started this life-fulfilling subject a couple months ago. Thanks to your and your team I could be able to figure out lots of things through this channel. Keep up the elite work! ❤👌💯🙏
When you're stalling lower your elevator to push the nose of the airplane down and ramp up engine power although at such low altitude it might be too little too late🔥🔥🔥 And yes I watch a lot of Mayday Air Crash Investigation 😂👍
I couldn't help but to notice the blue and white stinson in the trailer. I have a full scale stinson in Middletown ohio and would love to have it. Is it available? Thanks!!! As always, love your content.

Can you invent a parachute recovery system for situations like this? It might help other sketchy builds also. Then again, sometimes you gotta let go...
I was guessing that you throttled back. I did once the same mistake. Better to have some velocity and some kind of passing air over the wings. Once it stalls near the ground, it's gone. As it happened with my toilet pipe airplane

Definitely omit the doll. And 3 RDF motors with 4 brushless powered props. Has it ever been done on a full size aircraft? I wonder if the open cockpit had anything to do with the epic crash?
Maybe not the biggest, but a pretty destructive crash, nothing to see here, move along. Lol, the engineering you guys put into building these beasts is amazing and always entertaining! Thank you, keep it up,(in the air) 😆

I would really like to know what you think of these kits. He is also looking for resellers on this side of the pond.
Make an RC flying pancake. It was a real experimental aircraft made by the military. It was a failure because it lost a lot of its stability approximately 10 to 15 feet off the ground. It is called the Vought V-173.
