    Ease of use is one of the best features of rotolight, and to be able to strobe with these led lights is just a great wonder of creation 🔥

    The video is no more in light with latest firmware of the rotolight transmitter and there is no user guide available eg no more SYNC MODE it has become second curtain . ID or type is displayed no more the 2. Also menu navigation is no more direct you need to push select button then switch from POWER / COLOR to NAV to enter into navigation mode

    For the life of me I cannot figure why when I press my trigger on the camera (A7 III) the Rotolight does not not flash. I’ve followed all these steps for the neo 2 and for the Elinchrom trigger and put my camera setting to wireless flash. Can you please help!? Also my neo 2 doesn’t have the “TRIG” anywhere!? I only purchased it last week...

    I could not figure out how to control the power of the flash of the NEO2 with rotolight. You can of course adjust power of the Continous light but I did not find how to adjust from 1/1 to 1/16 of power . any ideas ?

      I think they just donthave the power of godox. I just bought the Jason Lanier Kit 2 rotolights and the flash amount it puts out... extremely low compared to godox ad200. $2500!! Hope we get the same question answered. Also there tech support is horrible.

    I got the Neo 11 & elinchrom transmitter as an Xmas gift but am having trouble, can anyone help?
    When I turn on the neo11 it first of all shows the ‘brightness’ symbol. I push in both buttons to get the ‘menu’ but the word menu disappears very quickly & shows me options which are ‘CTRL & TECH’ both of which have side menus. Does this sound right?

    B ((( Rotolight / Sony Pocket Flash Important Information )))
    Hello for those individuals that are thinking about purchasing the NEO PRO and the AEOS PRO lights. You need to be aware that these lights are only half the power of a Standard pocket flash. I did a thorough test on these lights with my Seckonic light meter. Half the power that’s it. If you would like to know more I have placed a comment below this one to give you much more information if you are truly interested.

    I'm lost on this! So I have a Canon X2 trigger but if I want to use it with the Neo 2 I have to use a sync chord from transmitter to light? Doesn't that defeat the object? Why have you not designed this so it works with all triggers so you don't use chords and your trigger can adjust the light output? By the time you buy the dedicated kit your up to £400 almost.??

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Glenn, hopefully we can help clear up any confusion. There is not a single flash brand in the world that can work with other companies transmitters. Godox will not wirelessly trigger an Elinchrom or Profoto flash, for example. The NEO contained an integrated Elinchrom Skyport flash receiver, and so if you want to control it wirelessly then you can use any existing Elinchrom Skyport transmitter, or purchase the Rotolight Elinchrom Transmitter. Alternatively, if you already own a transmitter such as the Godox X2, then you simply purchase the receiver for that transmitter (£30), and plug it into the 3.5mm flash sync socket on the NEO 2. That way you have the option, depending on your needs. Thanks

    I have a question I currently have a rotolight neo2 is there anyway I could use the gr iii with the flash capability of my neo2?
    I could use a Godox tx1 trigger with the neo2 connected with a Godox flash trigger connection cable. Since the Godox tx1 has the ir sensor it would trigger the neo2 flash option. But I would have to purchased a lightpix flash however I would then Have to use two sources of light instead of just the neo2. Plus the extra $75 I would have to spend on the lightpix. I’m sure there’s a way to just use the Ricoh gr iii, Godox tx1, and my rotolight neo2. Could you help me figure this out?

    I am having trouble figuring out how to be able to control three NEO 2s individually. I tried setting each on a different group or channel but always end up only being able to control one or the other. Help please.

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi shaolin95, if you could please try the following:
      Leave all NEOs on the same channel but put them in different groups. Then restart the transmitter and you can click the 'Group' button which will work its way through Group 1 - this will only control the NEO in group 1 and then onto Group 2, Group 3 and Group 4 etc and then eventually onto 'ALL' which will allow control of all of the units together. Hope that helps!

      Hi Robbie, thanks for your message and apologies that you're having these issues. Elinchrom and Rotolight have since adjusted the firmware on each device which has affected the menu settings (we are in the process of amending this video to give up to date advice!) so please find the flash settings within the CTRL menu. Does this elinchrom transmitter work with other speedlight? For an example, I have Neo2 and want to buy a set of speedlight, would Elinchrom transmitter work with neo2 and a speedlight?

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi SeanKim, out of the box it won't, as the speedlight won't have the compatible technology to communicate with the Elinchrom transmitter. However you could also purchase an external Elinchrom receiver, and plug this into the speedlight via the PC sync port (IF your speedlight has one of those) and then the external receiver will communicate with the transmitter and fire both together. Hope that helps!

    what's the best/lowest profile solution for using the neo 2 as an on camera flash for the sony A7RII?

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Taylor, for on camera that would really depend on if you need HSS or not. If you don't need HSS then the most low profile option would be using our flash shoe, found here: www.rotolight.com/product/rl-flash-shoe/
      Hope that helps!

    I managed to setup my Elinchrom trigger to my rotolight neo 2. I can control the power output and the temperature of the neo 2. I've also made sure I set it to speed and to HS and I've set my Sony A6000 to fill flash which should allow me to shoot at up to 4000 shutter speed but I've only managed to shoot at only 160 shutter speed. I've only managed to shoot higher a couple of times. Am I missing something? Maybe a setting on my camera?

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lee, get in touch at sales@rotolight.com and we can double check your settings. This is probably because either a) Skyport has been disabled on your light (make sure Skyport is set to ON), or perhaps the light has been set to a different frequency or group - double check group and frequency settings are as you intended. Then once they are and SKyport is on, go into the menu you on your skyport and press the first option scan, to force the elinchrom to rescan for available units in the room, it will find your NEO 2 first time you do this.

  • @InMission

    One more question, cause I need to buy at least lights/flash and it will probably be the Neo2, I really like the way Jayson Lannier utilize them, can I use the Neo2 as a permanent light and if I need to shoot make it shoot at strobe, so I can have the light's on, so I know where's my shadows, etc.. and when I shoot make the strobe goes one? The reason I'm asking is sometimes we need a light, but when it's time to shoot, we need the power of the strobe. I hope my question is clear.

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Carlos, I think I know what you mean! :) There is a modelling light function so you can have a modelling light on to compose your shot and then fire the flash. Is that helpful? Also many flashes use a modelling light but they use an entirely different bulb for the modelling light rather than the flash so the result you preview is entirely different to the actual result due to differences in colour temperature and power, whereas Rotolights use exactly the same bulbs for both the modelling light and flash. hope that helps!

    How much is the trigger..expensive

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, the transmitter is £229. However, please note that the transmitter gives you far more functionality than any other transmitter - as the video explains you'll be able to adjust colour temp, brightness and navigate the menu from up to 200m away, as well as trigger the flash! The Skyport protocol is known for it's rock-solid reliability, so despite the high price, this won't let you down. However, we have a built-in PC sync port for anyone who wishes to use third party transmitters too, see more info in our other video, just search 'rotolight transmitter receivers' in TH-cam. Hope that helps!

    • @paulduffy697
      @paulduffy697 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rotolight Sorry but that costs as much as the Neo.. Far too expensive.

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, I'm afraid we don't set the price of the transmitter as it's an Elinchrom transmitter. You are welcome to use a third party transmitter as mentioned. Many thanks

  • @paulduffy697
    @paulduffy697 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes I understand that, but it’s your recommended trigger system to get full functions of the product.. I’m just pointing out it’s overpriced l

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, price/value is subjective, so we respect your opinion, however many people do think it offers good value for money due to its increased functionality and rock-solid reliability. But we can agree to disagree :) Best wishes

      @Rotolight  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Catherine, we have just responded to your comment on another video. Yes there may be less power than a speedlight but far far more advantages :)

    • @femalefrankenstein
      @femalefrankenstein 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rotolight What are those advantages? Usually I find led lights to be hard and create multi shadows unless diffused.
      I love the shape and portability but am confused by low power and how to get HSS without spending another 300 on a transmitter

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rotolight's is famous for our soft light output, you want find the light to be hard and you get a single shadow with NEO 2, not multiple Advantages over flash : 1) Continuous light allows you to preview your exposure, set your composition and achieve focus in low light, very difficult to achieve with a flash b) no recycle time at all, so you never miss a moment - vs 2 second recycle time on speedlites 3) electronically adjustable colour - you don't want a burst of white light at sunset, you want to match to the ambient lighting - sure you could use a filter on a speedlite but that cuts 35% light output immediately and you also have to buy it! 4) battery life - 85,000 flashes vs 250 of a typical speedlite 5) ability to shoot video and stills with one light 6) the catch light provided by the circualr share 7) lack of need to modify the light - out of the box NEO is inherently way softer than a speedlite needing less modification. Hopefully that helps.

    A ((( Rotolight / Sony Pocket Flash Important Information )))
    Hello for all of the individuals that are looking at Rotolight AEOS PRO & the NEO PRO and wondering if this product is for you let me give you some information that might help you make a Better / Proper decision.
    I will be directing my comments about the AEOS PRO and the NEO PRO. If you are working in a controlled environment like a studio where you have absolute control over your lighting. Or if you are doing videography in a low light situation. Or if you are shooting outdoors in a very gloomy or cloudy day and you are OK with your lights only being 3 to 4 feet from your subject. Then these two lights will work perfectly fine for you.
    But if you are working in an environment where there is a significant amount of window light or your environment has a sufficient amount of lighting provided. You will find that these lights are extremely limited. If you notice they never use a light meter indicating to their viewers the strength or the lack of strength the lights provide.
    That all being said I have to give the lights credit where credit is due they do have amazing technology incredible technology wrapped up in these lights. It is the power of the lights that I have an issue with and only the power.
    I was sucked in by all of the technology and truly did not realize the environment that they were using the lights in. Either in a very dark environment or very low lit environment. Even when they use them outdoors notice that the environment is very gloomy or cloudy. It is never a bright sunny day.
    I will now give you the Data on why I have expressed such comments. I purchased both the AEOS PRO and the NEO PRO and when I started working with them I was confused by the lack of power coming from the constant light that these lights provided. I thought at first that it was just my imagination maybe I was doing something wrong.
    So I lowered the lighting in my studio so that my light meter was reading at 1.00 F stop for light in my studio which means the lighting in my studio was extremely low having no effect on my testing. Then I set my camera at 250th our second and my ISO at 1000. I then put both the NEO PRO and my Sony pocket flash to 5 feet exactly from my light meter that was set on a stand. I set my NEO PRO at 1/50 of a second which is what they recommend and I have it set at max plus Power. And the Calvin is at 4800 and the modeling light was set at 40%.
    These are the exact settings for every test I made with all of the Rotolights that I tested.
    I then set the Constant light on the AEOS PRO at 100% and received a F stop of 6.3
    I then triggered the flash off on the AEOS 2, and I received a 7.0 F stop.
    I then set my Sony pocket flash off at 1/32 of a second to receive 6.3 F-stop to match the power of the AEOS PRO.
    I then installed the NEO PRO at 100% on constant lighting at all of the exact same settings, never moving from 5 feet and I received a 4.5 F stop.
    With the data that I have provided I have shown that the AEOS PRO and the NEO PRO are less than half the power of a pocket flash. And if that’s the case then they should notify or inform their viewers or purchasers of such information. So such individuals can make a proper decision on their purchase.
    ((( I reached out to Rotolight and here was thier response !
    Hi Patrick,
    Depending on your flash meter some do have problems reading LED flash that might be an issue but without knowing what you are using it hard to know. Also where are you taking the flash reading from flash meters are designed to take direct only light so you need to measure from ½ way between the edge of the badge and rim of the light, if you measure from the centre of the light it will give you incorrect results.
    With the Pro lights we have pushed the constant light, but the flash should still be a bit brighter, I believe it is about 2/3 stop, if you are testing on 1/250s them you will not get the full power of the flash it has a 1/50s duration.
    Something sounds wrong as at 6ft, I would expect f6.3 at ISO 100 without the dome, we test at 1/60s and mid pit of the light around 4600K. )))
    Basically Rotolight is acknowledging that my information might be slightly off but we are still looking at Half of the power of a pocket flash. And if I would have known that I would not have purchased these lights. I personally feel we are being misled to some degree.
    I have given you a link below of an individual that has pretty much done the same testing as I have. I think mine was a little bit more precise. That being said I would watch the video all the way through so you’re able to come to your own conclusion.
