  • Ted's Talk Episode 7: DIY Matbock Tarsier Eclipse Night Vision Goggle Iris for RNVG or PVS 14 style optics. SAVE $$$$$ These cost about $65 to build instead of the $250 that Matbock charges you. All the necessary supplies can be found on Amazon. 2x Adjustable Iris Diaphragm 1.5-26mm Camera Lens Module Adapter Ring M30 to M37 Camera Lens Module Adapter Ring for PVS-14. 2x K&F Concept 37mm MC UV Filter, Super Slim/High Transmittance/Anti-Reflective, for Camera Lens. 2x Polaroid Studio Series 37mm Snap Mount Lens Cap. These are high end screw in lenses and are a high quality than the Tarsier for a fraction of the cost. Great for protecting your night vision goggles lenses. Provides the ability to see objects at all distances without adjusting the focus on Night Vision Goggles.
Infinitely variable from open to close to allow the optimal amount of light into the NVGs and maintain auto-focus capability.
Clear front sacrificial lens to protect the lens of NVGs and prevent dust and debris from entering the apparatus.
Rapid adaptation to ambient light by turning the adjustment ring, and opening or closing the iris. This is a must have DIY accessory for high speed operators, prepared citizens, or your average everday gun thot. If Garand Thumb rocks them, you should to. These make transitioning from outside to inside enclosed spaces so much more efficient. I made 2 of these to put on my night vision project. A pair of RNVG goggles made by AB nightvision with a FOM of over 2700. I mounted the goggles to a team wendy bump helmet, and I also mounted a steiner dbal d2 laser illuminator to my ar15 giving me a near superhuman power. You can truely own the night with this setup.

By far the most aesthetic aperture adjustment device.

I'm glad you also included the option of getting daylight caps for it. other reviews seemed to ignore it so I was skeptical about having to unscrew the whole thing to use daylight covers.

The matbock is a friction fit, so its way more expensive and only slip fits
Not sure if anyone takes Matbock seriously their prices are insane
The thread on iris is a much better design and cheaper too

Is it possible to mount the same setup on a mum14/mini14? I dont know the thread diameter of them.

I believe so. You may need a different size though. I dont have a mum14 laying around to check, so I would definitely contact the manufacturer and verify with them.
