  • At Google I/O 2012, the Project Glass team took product demoing to a new level. We worked with some of the world's top athletes, combined skydiving and mountain biking, and shared the experience -- through their eyes -- with the world.

    I remember like yesterday how excited we were. But, ended up with a lot of frustration like a lot of other Google products ended. I think it was the most excited product of our near tech future. But, somehow Google could not maintain this while it has a lot of educated engineers and support of the crowded and excited tech world. It's a pity. I'd want to have one of them.

    Actually we cant blame any technology for the gap we made each other..human civilization reduced the people's time to interact each other...and technology always introducing a better way to communicate.but people always ran away from each others heart....where a little time for real interaction there should be an another way even they can interact in a better way..and for it Google G is for

  • @ShrinkTalks
    @ShrinkTalks 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very cool, but I'm afraid for the future of humanity. Our experience of life and interactions with others are becoming less and less sacred and more and more a Hollywood production. What is a real authentic life? Google glass is just another way to distract us from real connection with each other. Maybe this is the foundation of all our social problems - we've lost genuine connection and respect for privacy.

  • @makkil
    @makkil 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Exactly.

The cheap idea that non recorded moments are moments that are lost.
    The Ideological appropriation over reality as it had been long before human beings start to think that they think.

Transforming your feelings and synthesis of life into images you control, and not rare, edit up to the point they are not reality anymore.

All of that by a not so low cost. Like they could put up price tags in your abilities of having or not memories. And people believe in it quite well..

  • @twitte0king
    @twitte0king 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    And personally how dare Mr. Sergey brin dress himself up like tony stark, insult... i think it will take more than 7 years from iphone5(2013 jan) to anything close to the google glass we expected from the "How it feels" reel. unless they gimme one google glass and try it before the 7 tears deadline, all we expected is impossible. and the "How it feels" reel is just a lite version of J.A.V.I.S, science fiction pretending to be real!!!

  • @twitte0king
    @twitte0king 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    in this, we don't see any of the interactive function, taking pictures, feedback, or anything like HUD!! all we see is a low resolution webcam attached to a head band and 3G or Wi-fi (or worst) transmitter. And the so call conversation they have is not interactive at all, they could have a script written before hand. if u think iphone is compact in size, acceptable battery capacity and processing power, the real glass they proposed will have to be ten times better than iphone...

  • @GuitarGare
    @GuitarGare 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Every time a new technology appears, our physical connection with our surroundings diminishes. Yes, I'm aware of the Luddite pigeon hole reference to me, but let me simply restate my question. What NOW atrophies as a result of this, on top of everything else? EMF radiation notwithstanding. I don't text, not that it matters. This is one of those backward things. We are in the MIDDLE of the paradigm shift landscape, so quantifying ongoing damage is difficult for many.

  • @GuitarGare
    @GuitarGare 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just spitballing here: So easily ripped off your head and stolen, but that's not half as stupid as the whole subroutine thought of this entire endeavor is this: That we no longer consider plain reality as good enough, or being in the honest environment of who we are with our surroundings as good enough. I haven't seen a larger step backward in technology in regards to our interface with the planet as people in years. What will atrophy on all wearers as a result of this?

    I concede that Google do a lot more incremental innovation. but looking at the big leaps?
    Who was it who started the whole touch-screen revolution? Apple. pure and simple. No one had made a mobile system so advanced with such responsive capacitive touch controls up to that point
    Who started the PC revolution. Apple.
    Who started and solidified their spot as market leaders in the field of personal Music? Apple
    Google will eventually bing out better tech. when that happens i will start using it

  • @TannhauserCreative
    @TannhauserCreative 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well actually that is the very definition of a better product. If it wasn't better, people wouldn't buy it.
    Companies like apple and Ubisoft (I think that's who make CoD, I have no idea) have a base of fans because they target their audience well. Without marketing, no product would sell half as well as they do with it. Just because YOU don't see a product as being superior, doesn't mean that it isn't.

  • @TannhauserCreative
    @TannhauserCreative 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    So Apple didn't sell the most of any NEW product ever in the history of the world in it's first two years?
    You realise that the iPad/iPad 2 sold over 200,000,000 units in it's first two years?
    to put that in perspective, Coca cola didn't sell that many bottles in it's first two years.
    Apple make great products. Simple
    Android ALSO make great products. SIMPLE.
    The only difference between googles ad strategy and Apple's is that Google does it in a much more low key way. in the end they spend more.

    I love tech and software, But this is different.
    Since the revelations of NSA surveillance, not one company (Microsoft, Google,Facebook,Apple.) has stepped forward to offer enhanced security or increased anonymity. We've haven't heard a peep because they have betrayed us. You could have a secure Google Glass, but they are not offering that.
    (Quote from MrXeyu: Everybody has a right to privacy and nobody can take that away from you so chill.) This is simply not true.

  • @Larkinchance

    The trend is to jump in with both feet.
    We are unwittingly constructing the Matrix. Each of these devices are just one more small step in acclimatizing ourselves to being part of a larger organism.
    While it appears to enhance the capability of the individual it actually co-opts it at the expense of your independence.
    Already today, many people would not know what to do if the lost connectivity.
    Tomorrow, you may die without connectivity. (Do you want this?)

    @Larkinchance 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's just fine! Now the police can search the network for people in any area wearing GGlass,..
    They can take the unwitting user over and use them as a mobile zombie cam..
    While they are doing that, generate an instant dossier on you, face recognize your friends, determine everyone's political affiliations and arrest anyone buying a tiny bit of pot.
    Not to mention forgetting you are wearing them when typing in your pin at the ATM.

    Is there something in your everyday or occasional activity that could be valuable to others?
    Using Google Glass and Coursmos.com tool you can create video-lessons any time and anywhere. You can share it with your friends and millions of people in the web that are looking for new knowledge and skills.
    Now you can be helpful to other people, become famous and even earn a fortune by just sharing your useful skills and knowledge.

    these are stupid because if you are out in the street or in somewhere public anyone could run past you, ride past you or even walk past you and take them glasses in seconds or threaten you for them so would make crime even worse.I would make something what would make you feel secure like putting a GPS tracking device or even a tracking chip in the glasses what would be able to track the glasses where ever they are on or off.

    Nah man this video reminded me of Apple keynothes in which mr Jobs presented as new and awesome things that had been around for ages and fanboys exploded in shouts and applauses in apparent awe. They're just a bunch of cool kids with helmet cams doing their thing (they even have gopro's and gopro sponsored gear on) and the audience is acting as if they've never seen anything like it. If at least the interface was showing speed, altitud, temperature, etc. but it wasn't.

    Geeks killed the segway.
    Geeks killed the bluethoot earpieces.
    Same should happen to google glass.
    They know it so they desperately try to make sure the "cool crowd" are associated with it. Base jumpers, bikers, stunts ...

    But in real life, it will be the overweight geeks who will be seen using em.

    you do realize that virtually every skeptic similar to yourself says this about every single game-changing technology that's commercially released right? People like you said the computer was a damaging new technology. As well as the telephone. Along with public access to the internet and soon following cellphones. Meanwhile you're probably making a call or texting someone as i speak. this type of technology enhances reality not hinders it, bringing new ways to connect/share with others

    Interesting tech I guess but it has to be a bit more discrete, I have to agree with "smittysays100"; were not even totally comfortable wearing a bluetooth headset for our smart phones, never mind a pair of glasses that really do scream out "look at me I need attention cuz I'm an turd that can't talk to girls without peeing myself"
    Never mind all the privacy advocates and paranoid freak mongers out there. Besides that, it's very low resolution in a 4:3 format, all TV's/Monitors are 16:9.

    Ease of communication and organization doesn't help people?
    Sure we could all focus on specific world issues, but you're kinda presumptuous that these glasses won't be able to help people.
    For instance suppose you were shot and you had a person with these glasses rather than a phone buried in a purse. "glasses record." Now you have someone who recorded who shot you and is evidence rather than a flawed eye witness testimony.
    Amongst a plethora of other possible scenarios.

    Definition of "Radiation" for the jelly brains who are ignorant about the scientific term.
    ------------------------------------------------
    "In physics, radiation is a process in which energetic particles or energetic waves travel through a vacuum, or through matter-containing media that are not required for their propagation. Waves of a massive medium itself, such as water waves or sound waves, are usually not considered to be forms of "radiation" in this sense."

    The thing is if anything you have is embarrassing, not wanting to be seen, etc. Then why would you have the person in, in the first place? They are going to see it, how is the potential possibility of them having technology to see what they previously already saw in person later is at all a problem?
    The initial concern was about privacy. A person with this tech will still be within your bubble of privacy with or without the tech. It makes no sense to exclude people because they havetheglasses.

    Your logic makes no sense though. If a potential thief sees something they want to steal, they will remember it. If a potential thief sees something with google glasses, they will still remember it without having to take a picture.
    Your logic just doesn't make sense.
    If it's about how your look/behave. Why are you able to let memories be made of yourself?
    If you do illegal things, guess what those people coming into your house are just as capable of remembering things and reporting you.

    Explain how it's useless.
    I can see many practical uses for this.
    Heck emergencies would be a lot easier to have people get help with.
    "Oh no he's going to rape, me! Gotta run... gotta find my phone in this monolithic purse with too much shit in it." "Oh wait... glasses, 911."
    Not to mention the accessibility of people being able to take pictures at voice command, or have easily accessible reminders. Not to mention all the other tech people could come up with on these things.

    You wouldn't be distracted all the time. Those things you would otherwise do looking down at your phone all the time, you could do without having to use your hands. And if you're good at multitasking you can do multiple things at once. But if you prefer to use your phone over this, then so be it. You don't need it. Myself I would like these immensely and not even for the phone capabilities. Further odd is a relative term. If everyone looked a certain way and you didn't, you would be the odd one.

    :| Excuse? Look at technology 10 years ago. This kind of video from a small camera on a compact pair of glasses would be ridiculous to have. Yet you're willing to gripe about it not being more advanced then we can currently do without asking people to take out loans just to afford the tech?
    Further with the addition of more glasses bought and sold the infrastructure to support events such as these would go up as more and more coverage is provided to the glasses. It's common sense.

    How so? All technology in its initial development is seemingly pointless. Its applying usage and accessibility to the glasses that would make it worthwhile.
    These glasses could make it so adrenaline junkies don't have to buy a camera on top of all the other costs to go skydiving and record it. Plus the whole built in reminder and phone services they're hinting at would make even less things they would have to buy for daily life.
    It's very much interesting and useful tech.

    There was a movie with that kind of idea. Can't recall the name of it for the life of me though. Was a 90s movie.
    Basically it went beyond homemade porn and you could actually have your brain respond to how the person who recorded it behaved. Pleasure, fear, anxiety, etc would be transmitted as well.
    Was an interesting concept and kind of a potential look to the future of these kinds of tech :).

    To me, they remind me of some Mission Impossible device used by people that are into secret agent stuff. Yeah, some geek trying to act like they are in some movie they saw. I think a lot of those people will not find them something they will be using a year after they buy them. I think many of them will get laughed at, they might get them stolen by those that don't have the money like Air Jordan's get stolen, and they'll realize that they aren't what they are cracked up to be.

    "Brought" it? I think you mean "buy". Catch up with trends is not a valid reason to waste money on these things. The problem is that smartphones fill a NEED. These things don't solve any business needs or personal needs other than to try to act hip, cool, or above others because they have something expensive that isn't really needed. These things aren't going to be a big deal. Yeah, I'm sure they'll sell some of them, but it's a fad device, not something that people NEED. BIG DIFFERENCE.

    Because you'll be distracted by looking at some information that will distract you and that might cause you to do something without thinking. I wouldn't wear them. Not enough people wearing these in enough situations with enough time. They are new and only a small number of people using these things. It's like a test car, once the product is released, then they find out all of the REAL problems.
    Remember 3D glasses? People hardly use them anymore and a lot of TVs are sold without them.

    The chance of having an accident to a minimal scale? Huh? That means, they'll still cause an accident, it's just a matter of when and who. The other problem is eye sight. DId they get eye doctors to bless their little product? NO. Well then, they didn't THINK or CONSIDER everything. 3D glasses are bad enough. I'm surprised they aren't going to make 3D versions of these things for an even MORE augmented way to screw up your eye sight. LOL.
