Thank you for reviewing Sneakers. I felt like my life was in some surreal nightmare where I was the only one who'd played and even knew about Sneakers.
Hey when are you going to review Blinx. Its my favorite classic xbox game of all time. Please, if you can review Ty the Tasmanian Tiger that would be very much apreciated.
Although, I don't think it would fit for every game, like I don't really see it working for smash, but it could work for Mortal Kombat or Killer Instinct
Devil May Cry 5 does essentially the same thing, but adds a few more advancements to the concept. Then you've also got first-person shooters like Serious Sam, Painkiller, and Doom (2016 and on) doing something similar where the music goes from calm or tense to full-on blasting once you've been spotted by enemies to any significant degree.
It's called a dynamic soundtrack. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has one. Take the first fight with the Metal Gear Ray. The instrumentals are blasting and it's a really badass thing, but when raiden is launched 5 stories into the air and the singer screams "RULES OF NATURE" as he slices the entire robot in half filled me with enough hype that I audibly yelled "Oh fuck yeah" at my TV. Doom also has a bit of one depending on how much is happening in the current situation. it could either be you running around with some subtle synth music, or you could be in the middle of ripping an imp in half when the main riff to BFG Division kicks in.
love realizing that Pan's constant self-deprecation (and general looseness with his "personal business") plays into his humiliation fetish, which we, the audience, are at the receiving end of. i feel like the equivalent of someone unfortunate enough to be in the park when the exhibitionist starts flashing.
8:45 It may be because there was a Homestar Runner cartoon that contained "REVENGEANCEFUL", but that was september 2003. SBemail #85, 2 Years [Easter egg] Source: I lived in Ohio and experienced 2004.
Everyone I have a confession to make: as a kid I played Kung Fu Chaos and gotten 5 stars on every single stage and mini game with all unlockable costumes. I don't even remember how I managed it, all I can remember was how great the final stage theme was.
If only there were more X-Box gamers like you out there upping the sales figures to more oddball titles it wouldn't be simply known as the "Console for playing Halo & CoD on"

Pan, I think this is one of the best videos you've ever made, and I ain't saying that to be nice. Lots of the type of humour you excel in and interesting behind-the-scenes lore on things I've never heard of.
"People, if your maturity is based on the insecurities of the media you consume, you probably weren't all that mature to begin with." Best quote I heard all day Edit: been feeling insecure in myself so I came back here to find this quote to remind myself not to.
“Guts, I’ve been dead for eight years and you’ll never be able to leave here until you accept that. You’ve been living a lie ever since I died. This isn’t your house. This is a padded cell in the Bedrock psych ward. Your family misses you. Casca has to work two jobs to compensate for your absence, and without a proper male authority figure Kazuto and Suguha have gotten involved in gang activity. Everything you’ve worked for and everyone you love is going to hell and you selfishly decide to sit here and play childish games with yourself. This fragile dream must be shattered. Wake up, Guts.”
The 'chant' from the game starts with the phrase " in the name of god" in arabic and then 2 verses from one sura and 2 verse from an entirely different one and without any instrumental unlike the similar snippets of audio from the other games. Its pretty damn blatant and not much of a remix honestly. But if they DID want Arabic vocals and keep that eerie aesthetic, ironically there are plenty of religious songs to choose from. Or just have a couple of made up chants that aren't lifted from the Quran, it's not hard. I certainly find it distasteful but I can clearly tell they had really good intentions with the music, they just didn't know any better.
@@MrSafior I think when they say it's not supposed to have music with it, it might be because music crowds out the chant and they want the listener's full attention being given to the words. Even as someone who *LOOOOVES* music, I can understand why it might be offensive to "dilute" something that's meant to be divine... But at the same time I still think it sounds kinda cool, and I kinda wish it wasn't something people would get upset about.
@@MrSafior Like many religious texts its simply blasphemous to hear outside of context. I had a christian friend in high school who got the LoZ: windwaker copy I lent them taken away by their mom and given back to me, along with grounding, simply for having the word "God" in it used for the fake in game ones. So you can imagine how hearing actual chants from an even less chilled over time religious community play as in a street fight in a game would go over.
Wajima Aw man, that sucks... I can understand the Muslim chanting thing, but parents banning their kid from a game because it has it's own fantasy religion, specifically to keep from alienating or offending players who have different beliefs? Big BIG oof. I hope they got to play the game on their own terms, that's a really good game
That's not really true though. plenty of characters are recognizable without having a defining shape. Agent 47 is iconic but if you had a silhouette of him its just a bald guy
@@chickenfdisoruhg4915 but thats what i mean. The hitman suit and gloves are iconic without being noticably different in shape from any other suits. Making a character that has a distinguishable silhouette doesn't make it good design, it just makes it different. Different doesnt always equal good
Scrunt Bungle While I agree with you that different doesn’t equate to good, a good rule of thumb would be to have designs with distinct silhouettes. Of course, there can still be iconic characters with simpler designs like the hitman. However, to pull off that sort of unique look would definitely prove more challenging-though I get what you mean.
I love your commercial cutaways when you come back with the music and fanart. It just has that early 200s nostalgia vibe that is perfect for your channel. Like ive seen almost all your videos and every damn time a commercial cutaway happens im always like “mmmm nice”
That IS what G4TV was like in it's infancy days when I discovered it the summer of 2002, all it's original programing and animated bumpers were something magical. Sadly as the decade carried on it started resembling Spike TV a little too much :-(
The controversy over the Koran being used as a sample reminds me of the Stardust Crusaders OVA and it's controversy. They depicted DIO reading the Koran because it was the only Arabic text they had on hand. They had to edit it out, but it was already too late and it basically screwed the whole production.
While I appreciate you telling all us agnostics to cover our ears at the sound of religious music I will say that that chanting is fucking dope man! I love the way that sounds.
I absolutely LOVED Kung Fu Chaos growing up. Hell, I still love it. And I love the artstyle as well. It's so weird, and while yeah it's ethically a little... Questionable... The idea is just so charming that I can't help but come back to it every few years.

Even though the art style was a bit questionable kung fu chaos really seemed like a labor of love and it’s sad to see it fade into obscurity. Also, who voiced Nathan Zachary? It sounds so familiar and it’s driving me nuts
Kung Fu Chaos was one of the first brawler games I remember playing, and I loved it! Me and my brother loved playing that game together! Heh. We’d always fight over who would be Ninja Fu Hiya (best character btw) I’d kill for a full on remake of that game!
i just love how much effort is put into each video, the aesthetics are all there and i feel like im watching tv... i would find the cuts in the middle annoying, but its actually very nice with the flow of the video. god, im so glad im a subscriber.
6:30 I remember this game cause of a compilation of dirty jokes in videogames and what was this one? It was a sausage comparing contest and the guy says "What a teenie weenie, my sausage can beat up your sausage"
It was great to see a balanced approach to Kakuto Chojin here. I bought it when it came out and enjoyed it for what it was. I remember working in videogame retail during the time it was recalled, but I was unaware it got a reprint after. That explains why the game is still fairly common today (copies dried up immediately after the recall). The game itself received poor reviews upon release, but there's some nuanced depth to it that made it pretty fun for people like me that like to sit in practice mode, perfecting moves and strings of hits (like interesting, flexible air juggles). I haven't played it in a while but still rock the soundtrack frequently--it's one of my favorite gaming OSTs to this day. Had it not been for the tunes and the overall tone/aesthetic, I probably wouldn't have gotten into it the way I did. By the way, nice work overall here--that dance to Vittoria's theme song had me laughing out loud, haha.
Pan: Just taking some time off to add some videos to the backlog, lighten the work load a little Also Pan: *new 40 minute video a week and a half before expected*
I grew up with Kung fu Chaos. You may ask why my family would allow me to play such a weird game with such weird naughty themes. Because none of them speak English.
Kung fu Chaos, still have the game and still love it! Also Kakuto Chojin, I’ve always wanted that game but thanks to the damn recall it almost hard to find a copy. If they did backpack it with the edited version then I’d buy it in a heartbeat 👍🏾
If you *ever* make a part 3 of this Xbox series, check out *Phantom Crash* , a mech-based 3rd person shooter mixed with the single player taking cues from Gran Turismo (with manufacturers, parts, etc), an unique artstyle and soundtrack. A very overlooked & underrated game for the Big Green. Even got a sequel on PS2 called S.L.A.I. Steel Lancer Arena International
16:05 Ahhh, Locomotion channel. So ahead of its time. Weirdest programming ever. On one side, great animes like Cowboy Bebop, Saber J and Evangelion. On the other, mature western shows like Aeon Flux, The Critic and South Park. The most bizarre yet slick looking bumpers possible. Imagine if Adult Swim air their shows 24 hours non stop. Locomotion was that and more.
I remember getting a game in Costco it was right next to Crimson Skies in the cheap games pile. Called "Evergrace" and It was great, but it could of been greater. It reminds me of these games in the video.

Pan: Just taking some time off to add some videos to the backlog, lighten the work load a little
Also Pan: *new 40 minute video a week and a half before expected*

How is this game not a classic again?
@the hevy do you not understand a joke?
I really hope we see Blinx next time, I was looking forward to seeing Pan cover it.
The hilarious thing is I made Blinx my avatar on Discord yesterday and then this video was uploaded
I remember Blinx. In fact, I think i still have my copy of that game
I grew up with Kung fu Chaos.
You may ask why my family would allow me to play such a weird game with such weird naughty themes.
Because none of them speak English.
Kung Fu Chaos deserves a sequel. I so many fond memories of that game, so much fun. would fully support a remake or sequel.
You should do a retrospective for Pucca! That was one of my childhood shows back in Jetix!
I’d be down for a remake of Kung Fu Chaos, especially if they go with a more anime inspired look like it was initially supposed to be.
26:08 BJ from Best Buy is BJ Bales, the guy from the "Dude, get your own" PSP commercials
OOOh yeah that is him. He's a fraud, he's not a real Best Buy employee. th-cam.com/video/7zRPxEIPH_s/w-d-xo.html
“The booty has been dropped/taken.” - it’s amazing how things are so unintentionally perfect sometimes 😂
Two digs at boy Nathan Drake, don't be sassin' him, and Cole McGrath, we respect the dead here.
Just because Delsin Rowe is your new inFAMOUS poster boy doesn't mean you can disrespect Cole 😤

I remember leaving a Target after playing it just flabbergasted lol. Probably would've been my Jak 2 for that era.
Guys I need to know the futuristic pizza place that Terry takes his brother.
If I remember correctly, I think it was called, "Cheesy Dan's"!!!
Tank1319 what is that from?
I've always wanted to play Kakuto Chojin but the damn controversy made it not exist anymore.
"cuckto chojin"

I love your style, the way you set up these videos is fantastic. Your passion shines through and is really endearing; makes me feel right at home.
Kung fu Chaos, still have the game and still love it!
Also Kakuto Chojin, I’ve always wanted that game but thanks to the damn recall it almost hard to find a copy. If they did backpack it with the edited version then I’d buy it in a heartbeat 👍🏾
There's a Tim and Eric episode called Jim and Derek that entirely focuses on a spot on parody of early 2000s 'teen' shows like 'The Ultimate Gamer'
Such an obtuse subject to get a long episode :p
I am very passionate about things no one else is talking about
If you *ever* make a part 3 of this Xbox series, check out *Phantom Crash* , a mech-based 3rd person shooter mixed with the single player taking cues from Gran Turismo (with manufacturers, parts, etc), an unique artstyle and soundtrack. A very overlooked & underrated game for the Big Green. Even got a sequel on PS2 called S.L.A.I. Steel Lancer Arena International
I wonder if BJ from Best Buy is a distant relative of Jake from State Farm

16:05 Ahhh, Locomotion channel. So ahead of its time.
Weirdest programming ever. On one side, great animes like Cowboy Bebop, Saber J and Evangelion. On the other, mature western shows like Aeon Flux, The Critic and South Park. The most bizarre yet slick looking bumpers possible.
Imagine if Adult Swim air their shows 24 hours non stop. Locomotion was that and more.
Adult Swim does run 24/7 in Canada
Man, i miss locomotion
I guess the dream of Pan finally making a Starfox64 video is gone.
God I remember all the good memories I had with my siblings playing Kung fu chaos. It definitely did not age as well as I would have hoped
How is this channel not at 500k yet? Its so good and the videos look like professionally made episodes
Great video. One of your best. I loved watching it live and it gave me a lot of nostalgia for the 2000s.

Dude im still crying over how funny your old vids are!

I remember getting a game in Costco it was right next to Crimson Skies in the cheap games pile. Called "Evergrace" and It was great, but it could of been greater. It reminds me of these games in the video.
Huh...my copy of OoT had that chanting...explains why I felt weird when in the Fire Temple as a kid
