    I have so much respect for Tana & Brandon speaking publicly about Tana's struggles with PTSD an illness that is so often not understood & expressing it through this track. The more that it is spoken about the sooner we will breakdown the stigma and ignorance surrounding mental health challenges. Sufferers of PTSD deserve understanding and support on the same level as those who have serious physical disease or who suffered major physical trauma injury.

    Probably their most underrated song ever, 'I climb and I climb' if you ever went through such periods of pain and depression this is so relatable, just plain surviving each day, day by day. Thanks Brandon and crew for making this feeling into one hell of a song

    For someone who has dealt with depression, for most of my life, this song has great meaning. I am with the same woman I was with at age 14. She doesn't understand what I go thru, but SHE HAS NEVER GIVEN UP ON ME. 2 children, 8 grandchildren, a beautiful home and an extended family filled with love. The "Ruts" are unavoidable at times, but when I climb to the top of the wall, it is all sunshine and love.

But your words truly inspire me to not give up on myself and remind me that depression, ptsd, and other conditions don’t make a person unlovable. God continue to bless you and your family.

      I know I am 3 years late on this....but as someone who has dealt with bipolar type 1 manic depression for the past 19 years, stories like yours give me hope. Thankfully I've finally found someone who is willing to understand, and I introduce her to songs like this and she is receptive. Just want to let you know, brother, that just in case you forgot you are not alone, but you do have people like me looking for that happy ending through all the fog just as you did. Press on because I even had to be reminded that there are those that follow, and if there is anything we can gather, we may be the best equipped to facilitate them for the the real world holds because we've seen it from both sides. Much love and much happiness to you.

    This song means a lot to my family. My dad suffers with depression and my mum said that this song makes her think of him.
    It's a really powerful song that Brandon wrote about his wife's PTSD to show people that they are not the only ones going through this.
    This is why I'm proud to say that The Killers are my fave band. ❤❤❤

    my favourite song on Wonderful Wonderful. as someone who lives with PTSD, I can say that Brandon nailed the lyrics. "climbing but the walls keep stacking up" & "I'm sliding into something you won't understand" represent what living with this disorder is like. Thank you Killers ❤️ this song resonates so deeply. Quarantine has pushed me to deal with my PTSD and the tapping into old wounds has triggered BPD. Due to this, I’ve lost the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with because I am too much for him to handle. I’m back in my parents house and trying to stay hopeful. “I’m just in a rut” and “I will climb” my way out.

      Adry Arapani He said it in an interview, and if you listen closely to the whole album it's definitely understandable. Tana suffers from PTSD from parts of her childhood so the album is about her and Brandon's struggle to support her. 'Some Kind of Love' is another specifically intense one because he features their kids on the track too

    I like to think of the characters as Brandon and Tana. Tana is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and wants to deal with it alone, while Brandon is trying to understand her and be there for her but she pushes him away. In the end, she feels like running away and/or giving up, but Brandon refuses to let her go through it alone. It's such a beautiful song with such a powerful meaning. It's made me understand and love the video even more.

    • @starpower4ever129
      @starpower4ever129 6 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Definitely correct! This article says--- The lyrical inspiration came from Flower’s wife, Tana Mundkowsky. Without giving explicit examples, Flowers said she experiences PTSD due to a traumatizing childhood.
      “I, of course, okayed it with her, but that ended up being a big part of this record,” Flowers says. “And so the song is from my wife’s point of view, and it’s from her perspective. And it’s about resilience. So, she’s singing to me. It’s almost like this submission, it’s her accepting like, ‘I’m facing this thing.'” Flowers’ voice was altered accordingly to take on a more feminine pitch.

    How can someone so accurately sing about feelings?, that rut is a very lonely place, to hear someone sing about exactly how you feel is a comfort to hear it's not just you, I literally stopped in my tracks hearing this song. This band don't sing about events, they bring feelings through song and show you "Hey, head up, it gets better".

    • @raivedarkstone7378
      @raivedarkstone7378 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I wrote this I had sunk in to a deep, dark depression with some dark thoughts, literally 2 weeks after this an old flame came in to my life to tell me I was going to be a father and gave me the choice to be involved, I remember the line from this song "I can't keep pretending this next stop isn't mine" made me realise it was time to ground my feet and take control of my life and responsibilities.
      It has been an amazing eye opener , I got help and I have an amazing 6 month old daughter who has absolutely changed my world, got a sweet job and things are going my way. When I said they bring the feelings through the song and show you "heads up, it gets better" I had no idea how true this would be for me, don't give up on YOURSELF, you're worth fighting for, DON'T you give up on yourself.
      Not sure if the band read these comments, but honestly, thank you.

Each band is unique, each has frontman with amazing vocal, they can hit higher and lower notes with ease, each band matured in their own way and all of them are still faithful to their style.

It's also hard for people who already have ptsd to see that abusing other people causes permanent damage so they continue to abuse people and thinks there's something wrong with the person when they aren't happy and healthy after abuse.

    • @th0lin

    Remember back a few years back in Australia when The Killers came to Brissy , when this song came on , me and this random girl I didn’t know just turned to each other and starting crying while singing !
    Sang the whole song together , we were there with other people but it felt like for a few minutes it was just us while The Killers performing.
    I’ll never forget those few minutes , such a rare interaction I had with someone I didn’t even know.
    Clearly we both knew we were going through something similar and how much this song related to our situations, but we had no idea 🤷‍♀️
    So beautiful , I’ll never forget it ❤😢
