    Did this without removing the axle. Was a b figuring it out but I’ll tell anyone that may wanna try what i did. I used a 90 degree pick to pop the clip off the back of the block coming in from along the cv axle. You’ll only get a hand in. When re installing used a screw driver from inside to push connection back through the block while oil pump hung from a hanger and made sure it was seated all the way. To put the clip back I took a length of 12 gauge wire attached it to the clip got under the car and bent the wire to be able to get in just right and sit flush to the block in position with my left hand the pulled it in with the pick in my right hand. Popped right in. I reused the old one since it was a little more flexible than the new.

    As a tip to others, I've come across (2) 3.6L Pentastars with the P06DD code not resolved with an oil pressure sensor. Both of them first showed the problem when cold after sitting all night, watching scan tool data, right away on first drive of the day the oil pressure would read 40 psi at idle then sag below 30 psi at 1500-2000 RPM. Warm engine and clear codes and they both worked fine. The oil pump solenoid problem can be intermittent and affected by temperature. The shuttle valve part of the pressure solenoid is plastic so it's probably getting distorted with age and heat making the valve sticky or it's just the varnish gunk from the oil making it sticky when cold. The oil pump solenoid is available separately through Dorman products PN: 926235 or Standard ignition. I last installed a pump Mopar PN: 68252670A0 in a 2015 Town & Country, it took me 6 hrs. Pump gear torque spec is 18 ft/lbs.

      Good info- I have a 2014 T&C. I have the ticking- trying to get all my ducks in a row before going after the rocker arms, lifters and hopefully not more than one camshaft. Question: I’m paying more attention to my oil pressure and oil temp- can you tell me what range in normal low/high? Thanks!

      I have the po6da code go off in my car and it wasn’t the sensor although the mechanic assumed that. On forums I see this code actually indicates possible issue with the solenoid.
      So is there just one solenoid for the oil pump? Does this fix take many hours? I saw a video where the guy had to take apart the car and he said it took him 11 hours.
      But I forget if this was for the same exact engine or just another engine with the solenoid issue at the oil pump.
      Apparently it could also be a wiring short. Either way I’m annoyed the mechanic didn’t even know this and I saw this info within ten minutes online . Wasted hundreds of dollars already just to switch the sensor and spent years driving with this issue since he told me it was just the sensor .
      My oil psi is normal though

      @larsmoservice588 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@heythere6983 I'm sorry that your mechanic has been down the path of replacing the oil pressure sender without solution, that's frustrating.
      I fixed a Promaster van with 3.6 & P06DD fault last week, the repair took me 4 hrs but I didn't need to remove the axle shaft as on some others. It's a common repair at this point as these engines are getting higher mileage and older. There is one solenoid on the pump.
      Harness and connector problems are not so common as the solenoid failure. Most harness problems I see are from people messing with it, poking holes in the wire insulation trying to test, collision damage, etc. Put a pump or solenoid in it.

      When we called the dealer the only way we could get it was to buy the pump. As much as i hate to say it I found the solenoid by itself at a part store when I called around. Because of how the wires are run I had to unbolt the oil pump but it did not need to be removed completely. As you stated in the video there is at least one of those pump bolts that is a PITA to get at but with enough patience it is do-able.
      I also just wanted to say that i might not watch all your videos but the ones I do watch are informative in one way or another. Keep up the good work.

The car was little sluggish but eventually gets better as I drive longer distance. Brought it to dealer and they recommend me to replace spark plugs and fuel injector. I denied it because the ride is smooth when engine is in operating temperature. I then got some fuel cleaner , definitely the shifting a lot better after adding fuel cleaner . Can replacing the oil cooler on a 2012 Caravan 3.6L from the plastic 2012 oil cooler to a 2014 aluminum oil filter cause oil pressure problems that set the P06DD code and cause the transmission to loose 6th gear when the engine has not been allowed to totally get to operational temp or when pulling a lite load and getting up to a 4500 or higher RMP level? It seems that my 2012 started having these troubles just after changing to the 2014 oil cooler. My plastic one was leaking and that is why I changed to the aluminum one. I also use the proper year oil filter for the 2014 oil cooler. I would sure appreciate some help on this. 🤜🤛

      @Critter0817 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You might have gotten this answered somewhere else by now but the oil pump and upper oil pan are not bolted to one another at all. Only things it's connected to are the engine block and transmission. Might have to take off the dipstick tube. If you run into issues taking it off, make sure you got the two hidden bolts that you need an extension for. They're located at the back of the engine just before the trans, and hold the middle of the upper pan to the block. Otherwise it's just a matter of freeing it from the rtv gasket maker

      @Beaucage02 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OnlineMechanicTips Hey JT, Just wanted to give you a little update. I Finally got to change the oil pressure Sender unit on the oil filter adapter housing. 2 Days later P06DE came back. Got to the dealer to get a good Diagnostic and he recommended mee to replace my current WIX filter to a Mopar one. He noticed that the wix one diameter was lower thus creating more restriction thus more pressure created so potentially the issue there. He swapped that. Then, He checked the oil pressure with an analogic gage plug to the filter cap and he saw a difference of 5 psi more on the WIX compared to mopar filter. But other than that, all the oil pressure were good. All PCM module were all up to date. Drove the truck for 2 days and the P06DE show its face again! Maintenance wise, I've been doing my oil change every 5000km (3200 miles) since I have the truck 40K miles and now I am at 87k miles with a new oil filter each time. So oil sludge is out of the question. The Mopar Tech told mee if the code would come back again , it is most likely the oil pump solenoid so basically the whole oil pump. On a Ram 1500 3.6 that said pump is awfully tricky to replace (remove driveshaft, steering rack, cv axle and maybe front diff to lower to get access to that upper oil pan... Drives mee kinda crazy to do that and "Hope dear god it is the fix". Have you had lately some problem like this on ram 1500 3.6? Or did that said job? Mine is a 2017. Btw freaking love your channel, so helpful to work on those mopar car/truck! Thanks!

    I have the same issue and, I've run out of ideas to repair this.. I changed the oil pump (non-OEM) no difference. Changed the oil filter housing and sensor, no effect. Fresh oil change with 5-20 weight oil and OEM filter no effect. Checked sensor harness found no pushed pins or connection issues. I can watch the oil pressure on the dash and it seems to be stable although the reporting frequency is pretty slow so it might not show any spikes in pressure. My question is, if the thermostat was sticking and the temp was below the trigger on the temp curve in the TCM, do you think that would give the P06DD code? One time I had a "cooling temp below expected value" code but it hasn't ever come back.

      Iv been trying to figure this out on my own with no understanding. One mechanic told me it was just the sensor another told me it could be anything , though I explained it was probably related to pump/solenoid, I had the dealer tell me the oil light went off tho it was never on and they told me to change the pump though I wasn’t explained what they saw wrong other than a code .
      I keep giving away my time and money to mechanics for them to demonstrate they don’t really know what they are taking about . I don’t like giving my money away for free
