The video was originally released in 1995 & stars Jane Horrocks. It was originally released as a B-side to "True Faith" in 1987, and appeared on the Substance compilation of the same year. It was then released as a single in January 1995, in a radio mix by Arthur Baker.

"1963" is my all-time New Order favourite and deserves a real "Extended Mix" that's longer than the official 12" Mix with just 05:38 min. running time
I don't understand. Blue Monday IS AS IT IS, it always have been a 12" single with seven minutes and a half length, that is its natural state. At least is what I bought in 1983: A side Blue Monday, B side The Beach.
There's a previous version of 1963 in Substance, in the Collector's Edt. of Brotherhood and as a B side of True Faith, the length is 5:32

Sadly there are few people listening to it while it’s one of my favorite New Order’s songs :)
I consider this song to be a masterpiece. Genius art. Psychopathy analysis.
Bought True Faith 12" the day of release and this absolute gem sat on the opposite side. Albeit a different version to this offering, it was played many hundreds of times that summer and still moves me 37 years later.
Timeless.

This was one my favorites back in time, not the usual New Order electro-pop/new-wave, however I really loved it, 2:27 those synths are epic, from another world.

The version of this song that accompanied the video is very basic. The much more layered, complex version from Substance 1987 (2023 master) has this song at re-imagined, audiophile quality. Now, one of my favorite songs from Substance 1987. There is a four disc box or a two disc lp style. My four disc version is made at Optima Germany. Worth it.
You're talking about the original produced by Stephen Hague. This is the later partially rerecorded version produced by Arthur Baker.

Even though pretty much everybody agrees that the original 'True Faith' B side version/'Substance' album version/'Best of New Order' album version are the superior mixes, this Arthur Baker mix as its standalone single is still quite pleasant and proves this song is a top 10 NO song imho

Which locations was the video shot in? I'd imagine the Peak District and finishing in a very young Salford Quays area but I can't be sure as I've only lived in Salford a few years.
The moorland locations look like the hills around Rainow, Walker Barn and Lamaload Reservoir. I might be wrong but looks that way, and it's where Stephen & Gillian live so maybe makes sense.

@@hansolo3504 Well Hooky left in I think, 2007(after he resolved his substance issues, saying he never really got on with Bernard anyway without 'help') and I don't think Bernard's ever forgiven him. Inevitably there was also money involved. Now it's finally been settled, Hooky's made it clear he wants back in, but Bernard's not interested. I don't think Hooky's book has helped, nor the constant touring playing JD material. They're both so stubborn, I think if anything happens to one of them, the other would be devastated. Despite what they say in public. Also Bernard's got Steve and Gillian backing him up, and Hooky's said a few unflattering things about Gillian. Bit of a mess really..
Phil and Tom have fitted into the band very nicely.
