those mosfet is connected parallel when is fail one it need change two , the gate going to 13 ohm not sours or drane , then is not problem CPU OR GPU OR VRAM or whatever
Check Part 2 at th-cam.com/video/UHkBf7GJuNU/w-d-xo.html -------------------------------- UPDATE: One of the viewers in the comments gave a tip that helped fix the laptop. Part 2 will be posted later today. I keep mentioning that we have one of the best communities on TH-cam. I read all comments and I have fixed many devices that were otherwise deemed a no fix because of viewers suggestions and interactions. You only stop learning when you think you know it all. I'm not afraid to post no fixes and viewers are always ready to give and learn.
I think the bench and the tools set the scene and the feel of the videos. I usually wouldnt comment on something so trivial but I agree with those that like the old camera angle. It adds to the atmosphere and doesnt take away. Those are the tools of the trade.
Knowledge is the key factor in your channel, Alex. Also the consistency of the content. Camera angles are the secondary things, not so important, but to be honest this older layout I prefer better. It gives a sense of presence to the viewers. And I also noticed a significant increase in video quality. Greetings from Lithuania.
Watching your videos is like a small ritual for me. I'm visiting gym 6 days a week and after it, I grab some coffee with small snack, sit in my car and watch one of your videos. Thank you!
Alex u are a surgeon for electronics, should be known as Dr. Alex, i am amazed at the level of stability and accuracy you have, thanks for the GR8 videos.
I appreciate all your knowledge and you are correct you will never rid the world of complaints. Personally I like the original angle because I can see multimeter and gain extra knowledge from the tools and your movements, plus your desk is very interesting and every video I pause and look as much as I can. I am still learning as we all are. Either way thank you sir for your knowledge! I will continue to purchase from your site to support!
Those discreet laptop GPU's seem to go bad alot. Excellent knowledge of what causes the short circuit is a big bonus for you that seems to be something learned only through experience with troubleshooting faults. Nice work and excellent diagnostic skills.. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. PS: Your camera angles are fine. I haven't seen anything to complain about. All of the diagnostic and work can be seen clearly. Anyone complaining will likely never quit complaining, so I wouldn't pander to them if it were me posting the videos.
Hooray! The gadgets, gizmos, and devices are back... I love seeing them all. I love watching your videos. I do not repair, but watching you repair devices is curiously satisfying and relaxing.
Lag didn't changed my opinion about how I like to see your excellent work. I noticed it once or two in previous recent videos, but I didn''t mind at all. Just a big thank you for sharing your experience with us.
I love that he regularly shows ways to solve problems without the expensive equipment. I watch woodworking videos as well and they constantly say that you dont need this expensive tool that they always use, but they will never demonstrate it.
You said it all eloquently what I tried to say in your previous video. You cannot stop the world from complaining and that is true. I used to work in the health care sector. Our commissioners judged our performance on the amount of complaints and incidents we received and the improvement we made from them. If we did not have complaints or incidents that would mean we are not performing well as we have no way of showing our improvements and learning lessons. It was all about customer satisfaction. Crazy right!
I’m here just to learn, I could care less what the background is. The content is what is important. Of course your humor and personality are definitely a plus.😊
It helps us small channels more than you know when you talk about getting complaints as well. It lets us know it even happens to the greatest. We have to remember.... You can please some of the people some of the time, but never all the people all the time!
only way to know for sure is to replace that MOSFET again and point the thermal camera at the board while powering it on to see, the tempreture spike location is definitely the culpurt
Makes the viewer seem like they are sitting next to you helping you and watching the master, a sense of surroundings is always good, even if your items are not used
i dont care about the camera angle or frame rate, as long as i learn something and you are showing how stuff is done, its ok for me... keep them coming and best wishes.
wakes up ,Opens youtube ,no Northridge fix video ,close youtube ,go to bed its a cycle ,love his videos ,never mind if he makes same reapir videos daily
I didn't notice any 'lag' this time around. From what I remember from film class, the fps number needs to be divisible by the actual refresh rate to not have choppiness issues. Aka 30 goes into 60 = smooth, 24 does not go into 60 cleanly. And so once youtube does their back end processing your 24 fps thing being stretched to a 30/60fps product gets distorted.
Today's video quality is perfect. We like this angle . An electrician desk will never get clean . More you clean more will get dirty thank you for old angle .
The resolution and speed of the video can be altered on the fly client side. Feel free to record 4K 60FPS, we can just select 1080p 30fps by clicking on the settings icon. Any chance of a big boss channel showing how he disassembles and reassembles the devices you fix?
This is a good...no... Great Video! This is my level! After watching the MOSFET removal, I am wondering what type or quality of flux is used by the manufacturer? 30 FPS is fine!
I personally love your content, and have learned a lot. Though i would just let you know that I personally think that this camera angle is the best. It allows us to see the multimeter when being used, and power supply, and testers. Seams like it would be easier, and more efficient to keep this camera angle.
Complaining people have usually the problem that they hate changes even if they are good never listen to that kind of complains. Your new camera is awesome and its huge leap forward.
Amazing video. I think you tried everything thats possible. Great work. Good video, and i don't care about the angle of your cameras. Much important is your work and that you feel comfy with your setting/angles. Greets and thank you.
Fly back diode or capacitor is bad for that mosfet. In those buck/boost converters.we need flyback to protect mosfet from flyback voltage from inductor.
come for the repairs, leave with pearls of wisdom...

Hi! I know this is out of context but. Do you mybe know what is the problem with amazon echo spot and flickering screen? I think you are the only person to figure out the problem and fix it!
Yes, different voltages. They are not in series, but pairs. Think of audio push-pull stages. That is MOSFETs for V-Core, for GPU, the 3.5 and 5-volt pairs from the charger control circuit, as well as pairs for memory. Of course there are also non-paired MOSFETs which are for protection, or path switching. UPDATE: In this case as another user Michael Black points out, and as Alex confirms in a 24 hour later video, the MOSFETs are in parallel, for supplying more current. Unusual in laptop cases, but not uncommon in large power systems circuits.
Never had any problems with your uploads, always played well. If memory serves, didn't this same problem happen some time ago with two mosfet's like the two you replaced in this video?
those mosfet is connected parallel when is fail one it need change two , the gate going to 13 ohm not sours or drane , then is not problem CPU OR GPU OR VRAM or whatever

Fly back diode or capacitor is bad for that mosfet. In those buck/boost converters.we need flyback to protect mosfet from flyback voltage from inductor.

What is the white substance on the top of the MOSFET?
A messy desk is a busy and productive desk.
NorthridgeFix Goes philosophical...
I know what a mosfet does, but why so many? are they in series? are they different voltages?

I've seen the same lag/choppiness while under microscope on some wristwatch repair videos on a different channel, so it's not just you/your camera.
i have never saw delay in you video all fine
Do you have courses for technician on how to repair laptop motherboards ?
a method i like is to inject voltage and use your hands to feel what gets hot. faster than alcohol, cheaper than thermal camera
What is that white stuff on top of mosfet
to the right of the resistor is something missing? at 1:15
nope, theres loads of empty slots like this on motherboards nowadays
I miss the messy bench, i want to see the tools.
Can you make sure that the gpu is the cause?
Fantastic 👍
