It did not work on my 2015 mitsubishi outlander but it did bring me to a diagnostics screen. The hands free system is still lock but this video was better than any forum I have been on.

After some research i found another solution and it worked fine: "Turn on the system and without touching any other buttons press and hold the hangup button for 2 seconds, release it, press and hold the hangup button for 2 seconds, release it, then press and hold the hangup button for 2 seconds and release it.All this must be done within 10 seconds. In other words you must press and hold the hangup button for 2 seconds three separate times within 10 seconds. If it doesn't work, turn off the system, turn it back on and try again.. The person I spoke to said it may take several attempts to get it to work." As it says i tried 2 times without sucess, but at the third attempt it worked !!!!
For a Mitsubishi Outlander 2014 I used the following method: press the ‘Settings’ and ‘Map’ buttons simultaneously for a few seconds untill you get a second menu with the option ‘Hands free module’, select it and the system will guide you through to unlock the system. Hope it helps.

I'm so disappointed with this car. More specifically, the Bluetooth. The volume for the phone will only go to 11. So when I'm driving and I get a call, I can't hear the caller and the caller can't hear me. I've poured over the manuals and it clearly states that the phone will only go to 11. So this "hands free" Bluetooth only works if I tether my car every time I get in and use Apple Carplay. So much for hands free. I've only had this car since before Christmas and I'm ready to get rid of it because I'm so frustrated with the car, the salesman (who said he's never had anyone complain about this), and the tech who insisted it is the fault of my phone. Interesting that my phone works just fine in our other two vehicles. Any suggestions?
I'm so sorry to hear that. Dealerships will always tell to tell you what you want to hear. It's unfortunate that you're in this predicament. What year model is it? I can try to do some research to help you.
With yours, you might have to put it on XM1. Then shut the radio off, and then do it. If that doesn't work try to see it can scroll down to unlock it before you press display.
@@elrafii11 it's a 2014 Sport, the radio in your video is a bit different than mine, but I will give it a shot here at break. I'll let you know if that method works with the different style system.
@@elrafii11 it worked but there is an additional step to ur process: After step 4, hit the SEL button, then hit and HOLD the SEL button for several seconds. Then a command will appear to disable the passcode. That worked and after three years, I finally have my phone paired to my car.

Try this. Turn off radio Press 1, backward, forward, and 4. Instead of pressing the display button, scroll down the menu with the tune button, and you should come across the unlock computer option. I hope this helps.

Does your 2016 have the same radio shown in the video?
With yours, you might have to put it on XM1. Then shut the radio off, and then do it. If that doesn't work try to see it can scroll down to unlock it before you press display.
Also, try disconnecting your battery terminals for a few mins to see if the radio resets itself.

Once you get the first menu, try scrolling down it with the tune know, and see if you can find the unlock option
