If it's just a one-off activity, then taping the wire rope and cut through the tape can help. Also, grinding off the burrs can smooth the end before inserting into a compression sleeve.
Why can't the video show how to cut braided cable so that it's not frayed and too large to fit into the ferrules? (the problem with doing this).
