- In this Warframe Build Guide, we're going to talk about Frost. Frost has been reworked with the recent "Jade Shadows" Update and is now a crazy Red Crit Warframe.
So in this Guide I'm going to show you how to build Frost, which Mods to use and naturally how to deal the most damage possible with him.

I don't play as Frost, leveled him up and I still have to get his Prime version, never liked his play style but now? Yeah I might like it, I will try to farm it and...well I'll see about that, I might run the Tenet Glaxion at this point when I'll get it just to make it even greater

Oh a heat Tenet AP is absoultely broken on him when you use the Augment for his 1st so the Heat combines into Blast :O With the reworked Blast now this is a crazy combo :D

I recommend 50 for number scale and 30 for number opacity..
Compact will also make it so the numbers are 2.4k instead of 2,400
Legacy is smaller number from the center of the mob floating up, Cloud is spreading out from the mob in all directions.

Definitely appreciate this. I feel so bad for my frost because he is really such a good warframe but I could never seem to have any purpose for him other than a Santa loadout (no I'm not making that up). I have been wanting to make him a part of my OP build (as I'm calling it because it's the build I intentionally get myself used to using to cause destruction) and didn't know how. This is why I watch your life vids so much, blacky. Great work as always and thanks again

I agree and I was thinking of trying to suggest this on the forums. Frost has 5 augments, one for each ability, and biting frost. At least 3 of those augments could just be built into his abilities. Ice Wave/Globe/Avalanche, imo.
Bro why you didn't mentioned frost with the glaxion it will make it a super powerful weapon with the augment and even an energy farm

I run the new augment now and focus more on armor reduction via strength, and range with ensnare and the 4
Even though the red crits from biting frost are good, frozen enemies are already really easy to kill, so I would replace that slot with either more range or efficiency, maybe even equilibrium for energy

A fun sub power for icewave in my humble opinion, is Gloom. Able to fight off targets with ease best locking down with the snow globe but able to even slow down anything stepping closer whenever you're on the move is powerful. Double the power of slowing down if you have a Sentinel companion that has that mod slows enemies even more to almost have them be standing still is pretty funny.

The arcane really does sound like it was meant for Frost lol
It work perfect on frost, it was made for frost and must be equipped on frost. It drained one by one and not whole pack.
He is a really good candidate for arcane steadfast, as overguard takes care of survivability the usual weakness of the arcane (not spending energy means no shield from auger mods or BR aura) is ignored entirely. You can spam cheap spells like the ice wave (I use ice wave impedance) or freeze on your build, then when you have the stacks you can cast avalanche for free.
Takes a bit of concentration on your buff bar.
mystic bond + manifold bond + duplex bond are a really good combo for energy sustain also, if you want to run panzer you can only go with mystic and duplex.
precision intensify gives you a tonne of modding room while still hitting 100% armor strip, especially if you take molt augmented or the new arcane ice storm to cover some of the ability strength.
For my frost build I only run an amber shard for energy economy instead of arcane energize. A newer arcane that got released, arcane icestorm gives you 40% bonus duration plus strength. Not having to run arcane energize also frees up an extra arcane slot for strength boosting arcanes as well😊
After being a Frost main for LITERAL YEARS (I was there spamming frost when we still had VOID KEYS), i'm overjoyed that they finally buffed MY BOY!

As someone who really started to get into Warframe after he saw some random guy playing Frost and was absolutely amazed with his abilities way back in the day, I get excited seeing him be relevant again. I've been using him with the Kuva Bramma which still easily clears rooms on SP but my build hasn't been updated for that weapon in some time. I would like to see someone do an updated build for that weapon, especially with the Blast changes.

If you want to take care of frost’s energy hogging use arcane battery because he gets energy per armor point and frost gets armor per enemy frozen so basically as long as you are in a crowd you have infinite energy
i did not use the exact build, however this build idea is fucking fantastic. Did elite research on my frost only 1 forma. first time ever. only 1 good weapon still rock'd it! thanks a milli for the info!
If DE is determined to keep Snow Globe recast detonation, how about a option that lets us dump energy into making it tankier?
For some weapons, secondary shiver works multiplicatively with base damage mods. A great weapon that uses shiver well is the the kunai incarnon- it goes crazy.

Here is something that you could use for the arcanes first arcane ice storm for the extra strength and duration and for the second arcane it should be arcane battery cause frosts passive gives him more armor and arcane battery gives him more energy per armor point so that can help with frost’s energy hogging

I think Arcane Ice Storm is better than Motle, because you get 40% strength and duration, better than just 60%, strenght for maximum freeze time.
Also a cool other build you can do is going for less strength (just enought to get the 100% armor reduction with precision intensify), but with way more range and freeze absolutly everything haha
Okay here's the thing, Biting Frost being multiplicative to projectile-based weapon has been there for a good while. Frost rework just gave him back the spotlight and now he is literally a red crit platform lol. I just hope this wouldn't get patched lol
On another note: I have been using Arcane Ice Storm lately on Frost. But I don't think its worth. Avalanche spam will literally full strip anyone around you and you want to then kill them afterwards. Ice Storm is actively looking for the criteria of having enemies Cold status so in other words, it dynamically updates and it makes a little inconsistent. It works but I wouldn't replace it with Molt Augmented just for higher overguard numbers and higher cap. Duration isn't needed and if you helminth say Nourish for example that needs duration, Primed Continuity is enough.
Great video! One thing I want to say is that Hounds with Synergized prospectus are the best companions for priming and can even kill steel path enemies on their own

helminth break surge. hits in the millions. was using a breach surge build before the patch and i was already hitting damage cap and inverted damage numbers
If you are willing to drop Arcane Energize, you can replace it with Arcane Ice Storm. The duration it gives is enough to make using Primed Continuity is not necessary, so you could replace that with Equlibrium or Primed/Archon Flow for better energy management. In both cases you can replace the energy archon shards with Strength/Duration shards for extra death. The results will be similar, if not better!

You still have 30 meters for his 4. But you then gain the effect each enemy have a 10% change to drop an energy orb. So helps with energy.

Didn’t have the fully frozen extra crit damage or the ability to freeze from cold procs alone before it either.
I run vial rush in place of his 2nd ability, not only do I get mobility, but also more cold procs, rly improves on the ice mage fantasy

Considering 4 is the skill that carries Frost all the way, wouldn't Precision Intensify be more interesting than Umbral Intensify? Besides it gives STR only to the 4th skill, it gives 90% STR in comparison to Umbral's 44%.
You will already have 195%(Transient + Molt Aug + Growing Power) that is more than enough for 1, 2 and 3 to work flawlessly, while his 4th, that is the most important and most used skill, will reach a whooping 285% STR. The build also require one less Forma or not require a Umbra Forma at all.
Only need like 150str for full strip, so would only scale max overguard. In this specific build normal strength is preferred for freeze augment.
because you can shoot through the globes you can now chain them to create an invulnerable "corridor". For example in the new Jade mission you just chain the globes side by side to protect the objective as it moves to the final area - there's no way to fail. think about other uses as well. you can put globes anywhere.
Haha yes, taht's true :D You can kinda use them as 360° Volt Shields now :D
Since my Sentinel gives Heat and Viral status and Frost 4 strips armor, I went with Torid Incarnon with Blast damage and the new status damage mod.
Quickly kills enemies, while sentinel gather them in group.
As melee using Xoris to throw and do large AoE.
For secondary using Plinx with secondary fire build, can drag enemies together and do one big explosion while they don't have armor and also full of viral stacks.
This sounds very devastating, indeed :D
Id probably use Archon Flow and 3 purple archon shards with the Equilibrium effect
so happy my favourite frame became a powerhouse in Warframe

I have to say, using breach surge over his 2 is amazing damage. Just use Nautilus to cordon everything together, and when you kill an enemy with breach surge, the sparks just destroy all frozen enemies around it and start a chain reaction. Try this out with a high 1 shot damage weapon!
+200% to crit chance and dmg after freezing the enemy
+100% cold damage after casting augmet
+ 75% cold damage (can be increased by stength and augmented molt to 200% ) by Gauss 3rd perk and thermal transfer (also can be transformed into "E X P L O S I O N S ?" status with additional 75-200% dmg increase as Uncle Tourge intended)
+ 50% crit damage to enemies that have 9 stacks of frost on them (hello rework)
+ 120% crit damage and 90% multishot by Primary Frostbite

insted of 3 blu normal shards you can use 2 tauforged and 1 purple for more energy restoration
11:06 personally i think instead of freeze force you could run archon flow and then you can replace the blue archon shards with something else that increases dmg and i think you can get away with blind rage instead of transient fortitude if you run nourish lol or i mean energize and archon flow could be enough energy to get away with running blind rage lol also the new arcane we just got is slightly better for frost cause it increases duration and strength

The Tenet Glaxion with the new augment makes Breach Surge Frost 1000x more viable now, since you can manage the energy uptake far easier. Magnetic + Viral Glaxion for priming/assists, and then Breach Surge + Avalanche can do 100M+.

I'm enjoying this with the torid incarnon, red crits everywhere, only problem is there aren't enough enemies!
I like running precision intensify and 85% strength with a bunch of range, avalanche stuns, armor strips, and if augmented you get overguard :D

I have been cooking this build before the update, this update made him better now I see videos of what my build consists of XD, also I use Dispair for my secondary weapon I am trying to get the Tenet Galaxion for his primary.

Ice wave impedance is kinda good against demolist, it slow them and doesn't remove the slow zone after getting touched by their disable ability globe, comparing to gloom of they come close, So if you want to be crowd control on the team, you can do that
It's a duration-based crowd control, and it doesn't even disappear with nullfliers but slows them down as well,
It's not something strong, but it's something not too strong and not too weak
Frost should be immune to cold procs.

I've been using the tenet glaxion with a cold progenitor both because it matches the aesthetic but also because it freezes enemies super fast so his bonus crit chance and damage are effective even without abilities.
U should use the magnetic tenet glaxion. Still got the cold damage + magnetic damage.
I used both types (yes im a warframe grinder) and in total the magnetic progenitor did a lot and I mean A LOT better in raw stats and performance
My favorite meme build for frost was a max duration and range build with min strength. You can then with the correct build permanently keep freezing everything solid (but without killing them) with avalanche - very useful not to mention funny as a cheese method for doing missions where you don’t HAVE to kill anything - mobile defense, interception, excavation etc. But that was before eximus units. I’m going to have to check out the new frost in the new conditions.

Don’t forget they also made it so you and your squad can now shoot through snow globe from the outside! So no more pissing off randoms by blocking fire lanes. Thats probably the main reason I never played Frost before. Now I can’t wait to try him out!

If anyone has the angstrum incarnon or kunai incarnon- You HAVE TO try those on frost with the secondary arcane Arcane Shiver. Despite being fully automatic weapons, I see numbers above 20 million very often.
They work multiplicatively with base damage mods like hornet strike- so you basically get upto a ~5 times damage multiplier on frozen enemies.

I mean I agree with most of the build and if you have Tao blues to use 2 for the energy capacity and then a 3rd yellow for energy effectiveness.
I'm also curious if mods like Augur seeker would help effect Frost's frozen duration on enemies. Like could we be looking at using some status duration for weapons RIVENS to complement Frost and is freezing effect? If so then this could be even more busted.
If you use coil horizon and freeze before you throw it it will group the frozen enemies
If you throw it after they are frozen it will apply electricity to all of their limbs and kill them very fast and they stay ragdolled
cold also have a sentinel help with energy, just a thought tho.
Also thinking about changing blue shards, dropping Freeze Force for Archon Flow. Seems a no brainer?

So, I main Frost and use a similar build. If it helps anyone, by all means. I sacrifice strength for great range, okay efficiency, okay duration. This is expensive, tho. Growing Power, prime sure foot, archon flow, stretch, overextended, biting frost, icy avalanche, streamline, primed continuity, and precision intensify. Prime sure footed b/c high level enemies can 1 shot 30k overguard. If I get knocked the second I lose OG, I'm toast. Archon flow helps with occasional energy. I still use 2 tauforged for cast speed. Precision intensify with 3 tauforged in strength achieve 105% armor strip, despite the hard hit to strength. If you can't afford the shards, r5 arcane ice storm which is easily obtainable through the current event can easily achieve your 100% armor strip with a double cast. Molt augmented still works but takes a couple 100 kills. Arcane energize is a must. I subsume nourish for the slight energy boost, the small dmg is just a free bonus. Finally, I use a Incarnon Torid with a riven for crit dmg and crit chance. Not needed. Just nasty... 😂

@xwombat967 Amalgam serration, hunter munitions, vital sense, critical delay, vile acceleration, galvanized chamber, galvanized aptitude, and my Torid Crita-hexatis riven mod (which gives 135 crit dmg, 196 critical chance, 116 status, - 46 reload). In place of a decent riven, I'd use continuous misery, hammer shot, a status element, or a faction mod. I also use the primary merciless arcane and hush, which bring the torid to an 8 foma.
Explanation: I don't care for switching damage types between factions. As long as I can armor strip, Toxin with slash procs from hunter munitions eats through steel path no problem for any faction. I've tried numerous combinations, and even with a build that had 4x higher damage than this one, they clear through 20 lvl180 SP eximus, just as quickly. Keeping toxin and slash just scales better with higher level enemies and works well across all factions.
Love this! The survivability is a bit questionable with the 4 because it only depends on a large mass of enemies but other than that this is perfect!
Yes and no. You should not use frost/ember overguard like dante or.styanax, rhino build..
Yeah, I think if you want ro level cap with him then you need to Shield Gate + Rolling Guard and rely on enemy freezing a lot :D
After tweaking your build into my own. I’ll take back my comment lol. Arcane battery is a good replacement for arcane energize and arcane ice storm is a PERFECT replacement for molt augmented. The helmith I used is Nourish and replaced Stretch with Archon Stretch. Reason for archon stretch is because I’m using Diriga for his Arc Coil mod. Also Diriga’s gun has shivering contagion so I can freeze enemies better without wasting so much energy also while testing the build shivering contagion also spread nourish’s viral damage but I think that’s a glitch that I’ll let DE search for ;)
Wondering about switching out Augmented with Ice Storm. You only get 40% strength but you also get 40% duration as opposed to Augmented's 60% strength.

I personally would swap Transient and Umbra intensify for Blind Rage and Equilibrium. Personally the Freezing Frost Augment is pretty meh, especially when enemies have their armor stripped anyway, so they'll already melt like butter 99% of the time. So I'd just swap Freezing Frost for Flow for better energy for a less archon shard reliant build.
Remove Arcane Energize and replace with Ice Storm + Molt Augmented. Combine with Growing Power that's bonus 125 strength. Which will be very nice if you subsume his 2nd ability for other abilities that need more strength.
I would personally subsume his 1st or 2nd for either Xata's Whisper, Roar, Nourish or Breach Surge.

but you can also use melee as a wepon, since augment works on the whole warframe

Sure, with all my Budget Builds, replacing any Mod with its Primed or "better" version is always viable ;)

you should really show the final stats, at least the strength/range/efficiency/duration, so that we'd have an idea of the balance you're going for. It'd make it way easier to build, especially if you don't have all the mods (or mod space for lack of formas)

I heavily recommend the new Arcane Ice Storm instead of Molt Augmented. While it offers 20% less power strength compared to Molt Augmented, (40%) it does offer 40% Duration at max stacks as well as a very easy way to proc: you just need to freeze enemies. With Molt Augmented, you need to get 250 kills to achieve max benefit, as opposed to just freezing 20 enemies every 20 seconds.

Well, if they made so the hit doesn't obstruct your vision, well I didn't notice at all. And since I wrote down recently in a comment, I won't explain where I am in the game but those who don't know, I'm a F2P casual console player so I have the very bare minimum (at max) for Steel Path.
nrg solution , synoid gammacor, zaw with arcane from cetus, archon flow and so on

Sad to see limbo getting ignored and out scaled by other cc frames, but also happy to see cc frames getting love. Tho it does feel like they’re not making cc better but making cc frames just do more damage

Arcon flow allows you to spam Frost with blind rage on.
with a 10 second cooldwn on archon flow... that would not make it able to spam

maaaannnn the ice wave slander is crazy, how you gonna compare it to freeze with the augment but not for ice wave, you spam it to freeze multiple enemies but you only have to cast ice wave once with augment for a carpet of freeze on multiple enemies. If you use arcane icestorm its up 100% of the time with ice wave augment and it slows enemy fire too making your overguard last longer. you can build for lots of range, run arcane augment and ice storm and precision intensify and youll be stripping all armor after a few kills. good vid though

Reason for that was that it can pop the ice bubble and you weren't able to shoot through it from outside. But now that they fixed that then yeah ice wave's better although I won't use it cut too busy spamming 4 😂
