This was awesome... I read that post about this not getting more views.. And yeah, that sucks.. But give it time dude.. Zelda stuff has a very niche audience and this subject is even more abstract. Its off to a slow start.. But for real don't fret. You did your part, and we'll do ours by sharing this around. Let the video have time to find its audience. They're out there..and they want to see this. They just haven't yet. Keep making these and well keep watching.
I've played many LOZ Games over the years, but Wind Waker gives me the impression that Ganondorf was not 100% evil. His backstory revelation to Link & Tetra (Zelda) before the final battle supports that theory. What I believe is that the 2 old hags who raised him had either stole him from his birth mother or were appointed as tutors & guardians by the naive woman on her deathbed & they had their own agendas for bringing doom & destruction to Hyrule. The twinrova sisters Kuome & Kotake were skilled in the dark arts (forbidden evil magic) & taught the spells to the young prince from an early age onwards. A puppet ruler with a Jekyll & Hyde personality, hence the constant pledges & betrayals to the Hylian King.

I definitely liked seeing that the Gerudo weren’t on Gannondorf’s side the whole time. The Gerudo are a very interesting people.
Yeah. When I saw the Gerudo in breath of the wild, it gave the impression that the chiefs were descended from Nabooru from Ocarina of time. Since Ganondorf's betrayed both Hyrule & his own people I reckon at some point they chucked out the whole idea of the lone male being king. If they stuck with the idea, the man who gave Link the Gerudo Girl outfit would be the ruler, I kinda had my suspicions about him (red hair & dark tanned skin, much like Ganondorf). The reason for his sneaking into the Gerudo Town would probably be to visit his all female relations.
@@labelledamedumanor4876 I rather thought that the Gerudo guards don't really care so long as you're dressed like a female. You can literally be thrown out for being a male, change in front of the guards, and walk right back in without being stopped.

@@packlesswolf1 considering that they are very aware of their surroundings to the point where you can't even sneak into Gerudo town not dressed as a female you would think that they would be more observant. However my headcanon says that it's so common for men to sneak in dressed as women that they don't really care. Especially if it's women sneaking their husbands in.
I feel bad for Groose. In the end, he and Link became friends but Demise cursed him and his descendants.

I like the idea that groose tried to avoid the curse by marrying into the gerudo. Since the curse requires the right genders to be present.
The cutscene where Urbosa battled the Yiga clan is so badass. Urbosa is my favourite Champion!

I wouldn't consider him seeing the lady gerudos that way. He may be the lone man but if you paid attention to the video you would know that in order to keep the Gerudo line alive, the ladies would have had to seek out potential husbands/boyfriends/baby daddies from outside. No doubt Ganondorf & his predecessors would have had to do the same in regards to potential wives. The Gerudo are a sisterhood in every aspect. No doubt all related to each other (mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, nieces & cousins).

I know, creepy. But I kinda wish they revealed a bit more on the background. Like who his parents were. All we know is that he was raised by the 2 witches, but i'm not convinced they were blood related to him, unless 1 was a grandmother or great grandmother & the other a great aunt or both were great aunts. My other theory regarding parentage is that Ganondorf's birth mother had an affair with a member of the Hylian King's Court (a high ranking noble), she either died in childbirth or twinrova murdered her & stole her son after he was born.

Urbosa has a great line at one point, I believe when you free her spirit, where she comments that Ganon was once 'in the guise of a Gerudo' long before, a source of great shame and anger for her at the time. It was another driving factor for her to aid the royal family of Hyrule and Link in destroying Ganon. Loved that little touch. Like, it doesn't state it, but it definitely really implies that the Gerudo of the latest era are the descendants of Nabooru's tribe more than any other.

Yeah, when I captured that Divine Beast that line stuck with me. I also like how the Gerudo warriors tried to get Link to join their ranks, but Riju declined because of Link's quest. I wouldn't mind joining their ranks

Sure the voice was nice, but there was no feeling behind anything he was saying. I started to wonder if I was listening to a very sophisticated text to speech engine. The script was great, but next time, please get an actor instead of someone who just has a nice voice.

TP Ganondorf is strongest Ganondorf by far. 5 phases, only one of which auto-fails, because you're not playing as Midna. Puppet Zelda, Beast Ganon, Knight Fight, and finally the Climactic Duel, and even then, he dies STANDING UP.

The only reason WW Ganondorf fought was because he didn't want to die or be defeated. He didn't want to kill anyone or do any harm and certainly wanted something better than the King of WW Hyrule.
I mean. He was smarter/more cunning, but less of a fighter.

WW ganondorf really wasn't 100% evil when you consider he seemed to have a personal code against killing kids.
I think being 100% evil and just having a decent motivation for being 100% evil are basically the same. Regardless of if he had motivation behind it or not; he’s an incarnation of hatred, of Demise’s fury. Regardless of if he didn’t kill Link or children while they were helpless- that could just show that he’s so egotistical and confident that he thinks he doesn’t NEED to kill them to achieve his goal. I think his desire for control and power are so deeply rooted that there is no turning back for him. Even if he was ALMOST able to forgive Link and Zelda for causing him thousands of years of agony, loneliness, etc, I think his demonic hatred from Demise wouldn’t let that happen. He might have some “good” mood swings, but ultimately, he’s going to want total control, and his jealousy of the Golden Goddesses favoring the Hero will cause him to strike against Link time and time again.
After he won in the Adult timeline and everything got flooded he humbled more than where he either loses or kills link, this Ganondorf has tasted victory and had it taken away and isnt so hellbent as the twilight princess version

Something I never understood about Zelda lore.
If Zelda is the reincarnation of the Goddess Hylia, then what goddess speaks to us in the statues of Breath of the Wild?

Maybe it's a spark of her divine power? Like, she specifically left a small part of her behind to make sure they would have a guiding voice along with her in a mortal form.

Zelda can speak to Link no matter where he is in Hyrule. That's what that voice is in the hundred years before Link woke up. Zelda giving solace to her people.
I think the statues are made from the same stuff as the Sheikah Stones from Ocarina of time / Majora's Mask & the magic pendants Link & Tetra owned in Wind Waker. It wouldn't surprise me if Zelda was going incognito via these statues.

Groose as the ancestor of the Gerudo is somewhat plausible. A special connection to the Sheikah however is a bit doubtful considering that the Gerudo symbol is seen on every button and block, not just in the Shadow Temple. (The new symbol is supposed to be a bird, not a dragonfly by the way.)
The sages we see before completing the temples are very much alive, not to mention that we see all of them alive outside of the Temple of Light. My theory is that they were not killed but held in a state similar to the one we later see Zelda in.
There was no Gerudo-Hylian War. I don't know why people believe this theory. It is only said that "relations between Gerudo Village and Hyrule had become friendly once more" (Hyrule Historia pg. 119). Nothing is mentioned about a war in either the games or books, nor is there anything about the cause or resolution of the conflict. At best there was a strained relationship that was most likely due to Ganondorf. It is unlikely that the entirety of the tribe supported him once they found out what he was up to as they do not take kindly to rule breaking or betrayal. Even as thieves they had their boundaries when it came to robbing people as evidenced by Nabooru being concerned that Ganondorf had killed people.
Aside form these points it was good.

Here's another theory, the man who gives Link the Gerudo disguise is ALSO A GERUDO! At some point in time the Gerudo tribe scrapped the idea of having the lone male as king because of Ganondorf's betrayal. The Female Chiefs are descendants of Nabooru, if they didn't scrap the idea, the sneaky cross dresser would have been the Gerudo King.

I had the same idea there. Another thought I had was that at some point in time, the Gerudo scrapped the idea of the lone male being King on account of Ganondorf's betrayal of not just Hyrule, but also of whatever code of conduct the Gerudo tribe followed. I also believe that the 2 Twinrova witches influenced him here on that.

You know, a nice side (and maybe canon) Zelda game would be about playing as another male Geurudo. This would take place after BotW, and people would treat this character with venom, ostrazisation, and cruelty, due to the reputation of male Geurudo. However, this male Geurudo would not let this treatment get to him, and he would go on a quest to try and redeem the name of the male Geurudo.
That's an amazing idea. I'd love to see a Zelda game not centered around link/hylians.
No no. I want to see the story of the male gerudo in botw. The drag queen and his attempts to live his life away from the whole role of his race
ASquared. Brilliant idea there. Not only what you suggested there was fab, why not make our male Gerudo hero fight against Ganondorf's ghost as the final boss? The idea being Link has either been killed or injured too badly to continue his mission & our new Gerudo Prince takes over the role as he is the only witness to the incident.

He'd probably still bare the hatred of Demise, but he'd be less likely to indulge in it.
Technically Ganondorf is the incarnation of Demise’s hatred rather than a REincarnation of Demise. In order for Ganondorf to not be evil, Demise would have not had hatred, which means either Link would’ve lost or Demise was sealed forever and Ghirahim truly lost.

I thought so too! Or a child of a gerudo who married a hylian man and wanted to live castle town. I always wondered if Malons mother was a Gerudo. I just think her dad seems like the type who would hang around the fortress hoping to hook up with a cute gerudo girl, lmao much like those carpenter dudes. And it just seemed like a cool backstory for Malon.
@@KitKat_293 The child of a Gerudo is always a Gerudo. Their genes are aggressively dominant - which is why they don't go extinct from being a mostly female only race.
She was more likely a Sheikah. Same goes for the Shaman in Kakariko Village.

Random thought, but it would be cool to see a fight between the strongest non-boss enemies in Zelda: Darknuts, Iron Knuckles, Lynels, and Phantoms.
The Zelda universe makes the games title justice. It is legendary.
And the video is really well done. You guys showed real competence and I am looking forward for the next videos.

Also, it is spelled Ganon, not Gannon anymore and he was not killed in OoT.

Well, whatever the case, if Ganondorf was the last Gerudo King, it would not have prevented male gerudo from being born. What I would suggest is that any voes born to Gerudo mothers were given up for adoption or sent to non-gerudo relatives to be fostered. As far as Ganondorf himself is concerned, he'd be the Imhotep of Hyrule, going by what we see in the BOTW2 advert of course.
Tbh, Ganondorf had a good idea because the Hylians were not helping the Gerudo and forcing them into proverty, but he just went too far. I think that the Gerudo turning good again was a good change, and I would love to see a game where we see the view point of the Gerudo, because the Hylains were also pretty bad along with Ganondorf.

As a side note, I will never understand why people say names and or words incorrectly when creators state how to say it.
@Raegar Buchanan one of the narrators kept saying it wrong. It's painful to hear, plus quite obvious if you know the correct pronunciation. I figured it was his accent as he says it wrong in every video that mention them.

Very informative video Commonwealth I love the details this videos highlights which eludes to the larger events occurring across the Zelda timeline. Having seen this i would love to see Nintendo create a Zelda game that takes place in the middle of one of these conflicts between nations. Having Link play an active role in solving national crisis and forging alliances between different races and societies. In order to combat a greater evil plaguing the land.

You might be interested in the web comic "A tale of two rulers." You can find some TH-cam voiceovers of certain parts of the comic or you could Google search it and get the whole comic, there are currently 189 chapters of it...IF I remember right.

They were Ganondorf's nannies (Royal Households would employ wet - nurses to raise their children, no doubt that the Gerudo would raise their young prince in this manner too).

With how many versions of Ganondorf look like many of the Kings of Hyrule I wouldn't be surprised if he was really an illegitimate Prince of Hyrule. So that he would possibly have a legitimate claim to the thrown of Hyrule.

I think the Gerudo resettled in the Realm of the Ocean King in the Adult Timeline. There are many women with brown skin and red hair, including Jolene. In fact, she fights with a scimitar and uses similar fighting styles. There’s only one man who has the Gerudo features in Phantom Hourglass, Zauz. He looks like Ganondorf, with the same nose and facial hair. Coincidentally, he helps Link forge the Phantom Sword.

Even a year later, it’s very evident that You guys put a lot of effort and elbow grease into analyzing Zelda lore (even when the lore itself is arbitrary & obscure) and did your best to make sense of it, and compiled it into a very detailed and comprehensive narrative line. I really would like, not a remake, but a "reimagining" of OoT, with the cut content, like the Ice Dungeon, restored. And a better realized Hyrule, more in the vein of BotW, but without all the apocalyptic aftermath, obviously. Maybe Nintendo could just set it further into the timeline, after Hyrule has been rebuilt. It could show the cyclic nature of Hyrule and Demise's Curse. Many story threads would be changed, obviously, like the reveal of Sheik's identity. Instead, have a different character guide Link. But also, restore the properties that the Medallions were originally intended to have, plus implementing a dungeon (or more approprietly, a shrine) in the Temple of Time, in order to prove Link's worth before obtaining the Master Sword.
The same could be said for WW, to be honest. There was SO MUCH cut from the game that it warrants a second attempt. Originally, the whole kingdom of Hyrule was supposed to be trapped under the waves, not just the small part we got to see in the orginal game. The quest for the pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom was originally much more involved, not combing for Triforce Charts, as in the final game. Lord Jabun wasn't supposed to be hidden on Outset Island, either. I think its worth a second attempt.

It's quality is what helps differentiate the channel from other generic gaming channels. Please keep it up with going back to making videos like this one and bring more of these to the channel.

I feel like Groose with his change of heart wouldn't turn on the lands and friends he has or fit the future characteristics of the Gerudo with the traits that they have. Maybe the Gerudo were already on the surface in Skyward sword timeline,after all Impa was on the surface waiting for Zelda and Link.
They are round eared and thus unrelated to Skyloftians.
They are depicted as Nomads to, maybe they established themself sometimes after Skyward Sword.

21:27, given the existence of the Oracle of Seasons, Din, who is one individual living in Holodrum that bears a strong resemblance to the Gerudo, I don't think it's a stretch to assume that the Gerudo migrated from Hyrule in the Downfall Timeline. It's also equally likely that some of the descendants of the Gerudo in the Downfall Timeline remained in Hyrule, and eventually lost all visible trace of being Gerudo via bloodline dilution.
Not possible when a gerudo female has a child its always gerudo bc of thier aggressive genes

We can only make them a few times in the year. Because they are super expensive to make (we lose money more often that not on them) and take several weeks to put together. With TH-cam that doesn't works.
