    You also forgot to mention that Howie's Achilles rupture forced the nats to prematurely call up a 19 year old kid who had played a whopping 8 games above A ball named Juan Soto in May 2018.

    • @Wardawg-

      Premature is a bit of a stretch because he was lighting up minor league ball.

      @@Wardawg- He had only played 50 games at single A as well. He would not have been called up if Robles wasn't injured that season even given the fact he was tearing single A up. At the time Robles was regarded higher than him and Soto's eta was generally thought to be about 2020.

      @Wardawg- ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mattbalfe2983 no 🤣 robles was always a bad hitter. The injury just was a slot to bring someone up. You think that they'd jump him for no reason? He already was hitting 300 at the AA level no need to hit AAA. Because he was a better risk than anyone the Nats had at AAA. Stop it 🤣 he even told the coach i won't be here long.

    Man, what can I say... I've grown up with baseball but not like most who have baseball as a national sport so I only ever got to watch highlight shows as a kid on cable TV with ESPN when I was visiting my uncle (because he had cable TV) and then later on when I moved to the UK in the early 2000s there was practically no coverage until many years later. Thank the TH-cam Algorithm gods for sending me your way because I watched the highlights of Kendrick's GS and wondered why I hadn't heard of him before. You've given me a history lesson I've been dying to hear about for years. What an underdog, what a character and stoicism on his part to keep persevering. Having recently got back into the game after a 22 year hiatus I broke my shoulder sliding into 3rd and my only fix is TH-cam videos and highlights. This has given me new vigour to keep going once I'm healed. 38 years young playing a kid's game. Can't get much better than that. Thank you. You've earned my sub. Onwards and upwards for you and your channel!

Andrew Heaney, Corey Seager cameos, and Max Scherzer being the starting pitcher of that game 7 against the Astros, the first time in history in any sport where the home team lost every game of a 7 game series. The only other time it's happen being the '23 ALCS, also with the Astros being the losing team, and also with Mad Max starting for the winning team. Also, Kendrick's grand slam after going 0-4 reminded me of Garcia doing the exact same thing.

    I was so hyped watching that homerun then. Now watching this video makes me happier seeing him hit that homerun

    Stories like that are awesome. He basically made his way by sheer will but thru it all he outlasted many by hard work, determination and love of the game. That World Series Title was an amazing feat. That Houston team was really good and not able to win one game at home was unreal. Doubt that has or ever will happen again.

    Howie Kendrick is the Nationals equivalent of the Capital's Devante Smith-Pelly. Underrated guys who weren't exactly well known, but made absolutely massive impacts for DC championship runs.

    Kendrick was a huge part of the greatest baseball season I’ll ever have as a fan.
    And FYI, what really turned the Nats around that year was shoring up a MLB-worst bullpen beginning in June and getting Turner back in the lineup - you could do a whole video on him playing nearly the whole season with a broken finger.

      Oh yeah, the 2019 Nats were maybe my favorite team ever outside of my Tigers. Such an amazing ride with so many stories within, but I wanted to take a Howie-centric angle

    I'm a Ranger fan. I watched all the 2019 postseason games and adopted the Nats as my postseason team for the year after the Soto RBI in the WC game. When Kendrick hit that GS against LAD I was completely geeked. I re-wound and watched it probably 50 times. Just stunning. Naturally as someone who hates the Astros, I completely lost my S when he hit the 2 run HR in Game 7 of the WS. It wasn't Adrian Beltre hitting a walkoff home run in the WS, but I yelled just as loud when Kendrick's ball clanged off the foul pole. It was neat seeing an older guy stick with it and come up big in the clutch that year. Inspiring. I'm always fascinated by the guys who stick around MLB who aren't necessarily stars but cobble together long careers. Kendrick is much more of a regular dude, and as a regular dude myself it's more relatable seeing him do this as compared to someone like Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, or Fernando Tatis Jr.

    That was a lovely CLANG off the foul pole, then it’s drive the car with Eaton.
