I haven’t had a girlfriend since. I learned from that experience is to always watch out who you date with.

I ruined my reputation in school so I'm basically wiped out untill the end of school. I'm in year 8, I've started talking to a girl and it's clear she doesn't like like me but your content has kind of softened the blow that it hit me with. I’ve been noticing a bunch of patterns in my life lately that really make it a struggle to find THE girlfriend, so I’m hoping someone here has some thoughts. Every time I have a crush on a girl she’s either not into dudes, already dating someone, both, or like 2-3 years older than me. And due to at least one of these things ALWAYS being the case, it makes it extremely difficult to find someone who has the same mindset as me. Plus even if someone does end up being attracted to me to me, that’s solely it. They want nothing more than a hookup and don’t care about my personality at all. I enjoy meeting people so I’m not complaining that I’ve definitely made some great friends, but I haven’t been able to build a deep connection with a girl, which is honestly all I seek in a relationship. I’d love to have someone that I can goofily share my obscure interests with and vice versa. I can’t tell what I’m doing wrong, so I’d appreciate any help that can be given.

In terms of living summer to its fullest, I believe (especially if you're young) there should be a balance between fun and work. You are only young once, and once you get older the summer spirit kinda drifts away, at least in my experience. So I would say the younger you are, the more "fun" you should be having. But not to much that you come back to school having not learnt anything and you are the exact same person as you were 3 months ago.

Thanks for the change in my viewing of dating as a whole, this made me realize that I don’t need to be actively pursuing a relationship right now, as it probably won’t be anything long-term. I’m going into High School next year, and I’ve still got a ton of time to find the perfect girl.

Also you shouldn't worry about trying to take care of someone else until you can take care of yourself. The hard part of that is admitting to yourself you have a problem that needs fixing.
I think it’s important to stress that nothing in life is perfect. There are bound to be people who think like this and think that they’ve finally met *the* one for them, only for it to all come crashing down after years and years. In striving for perfection, accept pushback and some disappointment. Falling in love is a natural and not a forced process, and a girlfriend could very well become the girlfriend. There’s just no telling beforehand.
