    I've had a hard time finding the perfect, simple way to create dance wrap skirts and this pattern/tutorial was perfect! I shortened the length to 20" and it was exactly what I had envisioned. Just finished my first one this week and as a newer seamstress it made me feel confident and excited to see a project take shape. Thanks for sharing!

    I like watching your videos while sewing. Right now I'm working on a dress inspired by the Glam meets glam Bette dress with inverted pleats. I love that kind of pleats, this is my second dress inspired in that dress with modified sleeves. But in this one I'm working right now I'm using piping trim with a collar and buttons on the top part and long sleeves. It took me 2 days to make the pattern to figured out the pleats but once you have the pattern is easy to make any changes and design it the way you want it

    Constructive criticism here. I was happy to hear you were drafting a pattern that would be great for the beginner sewer. I think you explain and present pictures very well, however. It was entirely too fast. I hated to rewind constantly. What is the rush?

    I’m a curvy girl so I will probably need some darts in my skirt. Also, just a suggestion, some interfacing in the waistband especially where the button and buttonhole are located might be good if you tend to pop buttons. 😂 I’ve learned the hard way.

    Hi courtney, I figured out how u got the shorter length measurement for the tie but since my length of skirt is fairly longer, making it 38’’ my short tie ends up being quite short at 6’’? Am i doing something wrong? Is that length okay?

    How much fabric did you need? I have a yard of fabric that I’ve been holding onto forever, and I’m trying to figure out the perfect skirt to make

    • @LaurenJohnson
      @LaurenJohnson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brooke! I think I had two yards when I made this skirt, so I think you'd need a length adjustment to fit it into smaller yardage. Hope this helps!

  • @MsCourtz13
    @MsCourtz13 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do you know what the length should be of the additional waistband tie piece? I understand the longer ones measurement x

    • @LaurenJohnson
      @LaurenJohnson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Courtney! I just made sure that the short tie was equal to the length that the long one extends past the edge of the skirt, and then added a seam allowance so that I could attach it to the skirt. I hope this helps!

    How much negative ease should I calculate if I wanted to use a knit?

    • @cynthiavos3991
      @cynthiavos3991 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I ended up taking off quite a bit for the knit, I just made it, then kept taking in the seams. Used snaps instead of buttons.

  • @juchuu4169
    @juchuu4169 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do your calculations also work when using cm?

    • @LaurenJohnson
      @LaurenJohnson  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Julia, you should be able to swap in cm since it's just proportions. I would swap in 2cm for the seam allowance number instead of 1 inch, and 2cm for the ease number. Then you can just sew your seams with a 1cm seam allowance. Hope this helps-- thank you for watching!
