      Awesome, think the extra care and time of the French seams is so worth it for the durability and super profesh looking garments!

    This is a great tutorial, but even better was the link to pattern. The instructions & explanations, all the additional links, being walked through the whole process was helpful for me as a newbie. This was my first garment sewn using a pattern & it turned out so well!

    I've just finished making this beautiful skirt. It took me a lot longer than it probably should have, but I wanted it to be just right. Think it is the most pressing I have done for a make and will continue to do so in future ones because it makes it look so much better. Thanks for a fab tutorial and pattern! Can't wait to make more of your designs 😊 xoxo

    This is my first ever sewing project. Love the design of the skirt! I just tried ironing the double roll hem on the frill... SO HARD! Haha mine is nowhere near as neat as yours. But hopefully it will be okay once I sew it... :P

    • @madelabel
      @madelabel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Totally! That is the trickest part of the project (which is funny as there is no sewing involved just some killer ironing skills) 😜
      Some tricks to help:
      + Have a little spray bottle to hand so you can really dampen the fabric at those super curved sections - makes it a lot easier
      + If you are really struggling with a section try coming at it from the other side
      Hope your skirt turns out amazing and so awesome to hear this is your first project (of many we hope!!) 🥰

    Love the skirt. I am just under 5ft 2 and have had to reduce the width of the frill and the skirt and I am very happy with the result. I will make another as it looks like a fun skirt to wear. Hopefully I will have somewhere to wear it this summer. I would appreciate some written instructions and a hint how to wrap the ties as I'm not sure how many times I need to wrap them round my waist, perhaps a short addition to the TH-cam tutorial in the future. Wish you all the best.

    I just sewed this skirt today and I can't wait to wear it this summer! 😍

    Great video, thanks for the info, I am new at sewing and I have a probably silly question but in the pattern for the two short parts of the waistband it says to cut two of each one (for the interface as well) but the video doesn't refer to interface. Could someone explain to me?

    @whatifistopprocrastinating9448 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Absolutely beautiful pattern and super clear instructions, thank you.
    I used a material that's too stiff so the frills that goes under the wrap is bunching up too much. Oops! It's such a nice tutorial I think I'll attempt it again another day with a softer material. Still very pretty though!

    • @madelabel
      @madelabel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh so glad you liked the tutorial... if you are using a thicker material you can have the underneath frill end once the skirt crosses over. 🤩

    Hello! The skirt ended up being longer than the frill, but I can't access the link on the video for the basting stitch and ease. Where can I find this information?

    • @madelabel
      @madelabel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have a blog that will take you through the steps.
      www.madelabel.co/studio/ease
      So in your case you would want to sew the basting stitches along the seam edge of the skirt which will allow you to ease the skirt to fit the frill.

    Love this skirt, but I'm a little short on fabric! Is it possible to make this without the frill? What adjustments would be needed??

    • @madelabel
      @madelabel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep you could make it without the frill, it will take off quite a bit of length so just depending on your height you may just need to add a little length on the bottom and curve of the the frill. The other option would be to make the frill out of a different material. If you have any more questions always feel free to pop us an email create@madelabel.co happy sewing 🌻

    hey, i download the pattern and cant wait to try this method. But i want the skirt to be longer, is there any way i can adjust the length to knee length?

    • @madelabel
      @madelabel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi!
      There are a few ways for sure that you can make the skirt a little longer, depending on how much length you want to add.
      The first way would be to add length to the frill (which would work best if it's just 2-7cm you want to add). Add the extra length evenly to the entire hem side of the the MAIN FRILL PATTERN PIECE, then on the TOP FRILL PATTERN PEICE add the extra length to the hem side where the pattern joins to the main frill pattern piece then gradually curve it in so the top remains the same.
      The second way would be to extend the skirt panel pieces using a method like this th-cam.com/video/0UfhQaHKZ_Q/w-d-xo.html you just need to remember that however much extra length you add to the seam of the side skirt panels (that joins to the skirt to the frill) you will need to add that length of the frill, divided by 4 and add evenly to all frills. Best advice is to just give it a go with a second hand sheet until you get the right fit - have fun and experiment!! And if you find the frill is a little short or long you can check out our hack of using a little ease to get the pattern pieces to fit www.madelabel.co/studio/ease
      If you need any further help you can always email create@madelabel.co happy sewing xx

      When you sign up for the Frankie Wrap Skirt you should receive a ZIP file. In the file there will be an individual pattern for sizes 4-16. Then you can print the one that best matches your size from the finished measurement chart in the Information Doc that will also be in the ZIP folder. So one side of the tie is excessively long and the other is just long enough to tie. Where did I go wrong? 😩

    • @madelabel
      @madelabel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Regina - oh no! Sounds like the waistband was attached the wrong way around. The longer waistband length should go over two panels (side panel and back panel) and the shorter waistband section should just go over one section. Check out time stamp 15.46.
      What I suggest you do (if your waistband is all sewn together already) is cut the excessively long tie to a place where is makes sense and sew that raw edge up. Then unpick the end of the short waistband and sew on the section you cut off the other tie! 😊 Hope that helps!

    • @reginavu4041
