The 987 is aging like fine wine, especially the .2 gen, and the R is a special treat. The video didnt mention the LSD which makes a nice difference, the lowered ride (-20mm off stock), and the wheels are approx total 5kg lighter than the 19inch on the S, not 10kg. Also you wont find a decent 6MT in UK for less than 40k GBP and they’re reaching 60-80k EUR in Europe. The colors got a bit lairy, which is appropriate for R, but tricky for a daily driver. With some well-chosen mods you can get pretty much the same (or better) driving experience in a more subtle S and daily it.
Everyone says these are a future classic and the prices are going to rise, but they haven’t moved in all the time I’ve had mine. 😅 Owned my manual peridot CR for 8 years now. It’s a non AC car with spyders, buckets and a few mods to liven it up a little. It’s been on track in the UK, the IOM TT, ‘Ring trips and all over Europe. It’s an absolutely wonderful thing and feels so special to thread along any stretch of tarmac. Easily far more special than the sum of its parts and nothing this side of a GT3 would tempt me out of it.
I own the Porsche UK press Cayman R in the more lightweight spec with PCCB and no radio or AC and a few tasteful mods now... I don't miss the luxuries, it's a fantastic car and how Porsche wanted it😁
I think you’ll find the prices are a bit higher than you quote especially with the Carbon buckets - The seats alone have been reaching close to $20,000 in the States! Ive the 987.2 Spyder, buckets, manual with sport shift option, sports exhaust and of course the Spyder wheels -They offer a very involving experience that as is said in this video is really only match once you get into some serious money GT Porsches I quote this often but for me it sums up nicely the Spyder and Cayman R, in 2020 Evo retested the Spyder, they gave it 5 Stars with the summary 'I can’t with confidence say I’ve enjoyed another Porsche more' They are a lot of the car for the money, even if that money is a bit higher than that quoted in the video 👍
Beautiful. Currently thinking about one of these as an option. The other option a 2016 Macan GTS. Heart, ... the Cayman R. Head, ... the Macan GTS. Hmmmm?
Goodwood Road & Racing or Becky Evans if you have the opportunity to review the Spyker C8 or Spyder, I recommend that you take a look at this car, the brand has an interesting history, an unusual interior and a beautiful, racing engine, and this car belongs to classic cars because it is rare 🤔
The steering has a very odd feeling compared to most cars, it feels like the car pivots from the centre of the chassis rather than steering from the front wheels
I'm sorry I don't really enjoy these videos. I keep clicking on them and getting turned off within the first 30 seconds because the host feels so fake. Only made a comment this time as I'm actually interested in the car.
Boxster/cayman 987s are just special even the base models! Unbelievable cars!
>103K miles on my Cayman R (manual) and loving every bit of it - daily, canyons, autox, and track!

Thank you for a wonderful review! I'm on my second 987 Cayman and I love them, they're so much fun. Beautiful car and presenter.
Beautiful example. Great car. I have the Black Edition, with the same engine ( and wheels) and really enjoy it.
Dudleys child, already pointing out the car and being interested in it. The next gen of car lovers is in the making! Great vid Becky and the and team!
I own a 718 GTS 2.5, I think is one of the best mid engined sports cars Porsche has ever produced :)

The most underrated car 👌🏼👌🏼

Not sure where the prices came from but you're not getting one for £24k.
Own a PDK CR in Cararra White. I love it being my 1st Porsche cayman 👌
"I'm about carbon buckets, wings and stickers..."
Marry me!

I' m in Australia and just wish we had more to choose from. Only one currently advertised on the market. Priced at over 60000 pounds your money ! ! !
Great video, and one day, one day I'll own a Porsche 🤣
987 Cayman Black Edition also very nice, 330hp
Ditto for the 981 iteration🏎
I had a 2012 Cayman R I thought it only produced for one year only!
The steering has a very odd feeling compared to most cars, it feels like the car pivots from the centre of the chassis rather than steering from the front wheels
Because most cars are not mid-engine.
Please private this video I'd like to own one in the future and want to gatekeep it
Lol, the cat's been out of the bag for a while.
Less than 115 registered on DVLA. Unsure if you’re be able to purchase from £24,000. !!
Nope deffo not buying one for £24k !
8:48 no more owners blabla
Omg 40 kg us now a big deal
Im sure a 911 is better, but this is the less expensive option more people can actually afford.
Middle engine layout is better if you care about driving dynamics
Nothing is better about it ,,,Its just image . Under the skin both the same .
Cayman R is actually quicker on track than a base 997 Carrera of the same vintage.
I had a 911 C4S, now have a 981 GT4, the GT4 is way more fun
