  • Hyundai Stall and No Start Complaint.
Another troubled vehicle with several failed attempts at being repaired arrives on a hook. This time a Hyundai. I was certainly hoping for a good outcome, as the previous shop had it for over a month. Come hang out at the shop with us and see what we found.
Can we fix this Hyundai ???

      YOU, SIR....ARE THE MF'ing MAN!
      #SUBSCRIBED
(Got an '04 that's DRIVING ME CRAZY, trying to clear a "Misfire-Cyl #1"...have done plugs, wires, coil packs, 'bout to replace Fuel filter & strainer (both on pump housing)...bought a month ago, just no time to change, BUT....on a Hyundai thread & ONE...(that's right, just ONE GUY mentions going through the same thing as ALL the rest on said thread), says his cause hadn't yet been mentioned yet, but wound up being the Fuel Pressure Regulator (which, according to my son-in-law (Professional Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician) would make perfect sense, given all the other symptoms (ie, hard start, RICH fuel smell, etc). Sure enough, Regulator isn't working properly, actually kicking fuel up the vacuum line & into manifold, as too much fuel pooled to Regulator (would have to operate at max psi in order to keep from pooling, I'm thinking?) Ordered replacement, but too big/no fit, so picking up correct part tomorrow. HOWEVER, upon reinstalling old Regulator while new part ships, we notice it's actually no longer malfunctioning....but working EXACTLY as it should. SO... I'm thinking that SOMETHING is causing too much fuel to feed Regulator, so I'm trying to locate the engine control module (I should mention, we pulled the 20amp fuel pump fuse in order to break fuel pressure B4 attempting to replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator...& whereas it cut the fuel, as expected, a few weeks before, THIS time, the car just ran & ran & ran, as though the circuit remained open....which, is why I even began looking into the fuel pump relay -& have seen reference to the Engine Control Relay/ Module being the replacement term for that item, on this model). In addition to BOT being able to locate said Engine Control Relay, (before continuing on this MADDENING path) I have to ask....COULD that even be the cause of the excess of fuel pooling at the Pressure Regulator???? Anyone have any thoughts? Either way, THANKS, LOVED this clip & definitely now a Subscriber!👍🏼

Good video & diagnosis buddy. Shows the difference between someone who can actually read and understand a circuit, and someone that just thinks they know what they're doing.
Don't get me started with fuses, wish I had a pound for every time I found an "Uprated" or "Bypassed" fuse in a circuit 🙂. Bad enough on 12v DC, but on 240 / 415 AC a fuse bypassed with a 2" screw or a bolt can add a whole new meaning to fun when something shorts out and the "Fuse" doesn't blow.

Thank you. Now I may not have the exact issue but what you said here was enough to help me try tracking down the source of the burnt wire smell by my drivers door and under dash so far I found a raw exposed wire that may have caused my alternator to go out a 3rd time that might go to my ac compressor . I have a 2005 hyundai santa fe GPS 3.5 V6 and after this rain last week my windows went whacky ( turn on headlights window goes down .I took the door apart cleaned the contacts did a complete new waterproofing and window is fine but then my car started needing jumps with a new battery and alternator. We found the raw wire resting on the tensioner or Ac pulley fixed the short now my car dies and battery wont charge but it charged until this week. So I APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO VERY MUCH I feel a bit more empowered about where to look .

Similar to a Yukon I had...veh had be towed around to 3different shops...I was the 4th. Don't remember the amps, but kept blowing the crank fuse. Turned out truck had had trans replaced and the harness w keyed wire to starter was put back correct and rubbed thru. Only 1 single strand of wire was sticking through the insulation and touching the bell housing. But, that all it takes! Awesome vids w GREAT info! Thanks!

I think that electrical problems like this frighten people because the time it takes to find a solution is hard to get paid for (if you can ever find a solution without striping the whole car). I understand why it is more common to specialize in electrical or mechanical problems. The electrical problems can sometimes take you down a rabbit hole without an end in site, Also, the equipment needed for the electrical diagnosis is usually pretty pricey. Just my opinion.

Hey there DIY peeps! I bought a Hyundai Sonata, 2011 LE, 4 cylinder, automatic, push button ignition. It only has 37,000 miles on it and the previous owner bought it new. She sold it to me because her two mechanics could not get it to function for her. It would sit for a few days and would not start. They replaced the battery and alternator. That didn't fix it. Right now it will not start or do anything at all, so it actually got worse. The battery is new and checked good (confirmed with part store check and deep charge). The main fuses I can see all look good. Nothing comes on. No exterior or indoor lights. No dash lights or gauges...nothing. Except, the push ignition button will lightly illuminate when I push it. Both key fobs will show a small red light when anything is pushed on them, but nothing happens. The trunk won't open, the alarm won't turn on, no door locks, nothing at all works. It does the same thing when attempting to jump start with 3 different vehicles. It did start occasionally for her with jumper cables and battery charge, but now it is entirely dead and nothing gives it power to crank or start, or any accessories or gauges. It's behaving like it has NO battery at all.
I have not connected a code reader to it, yet.
    Questions:
    1. Anyone have this occur? What fixed it?
    2. Is there a way to test the key fobs to be sure at least one is working?
    3. I know how to get the car in Neutral to push it around, but is there a way to get the steering wheel to turn? I hate push button crank cars!
For you guys who read this far I really appreciate it! Especially if you have helpful answers! 😆

    • @JoesAutoElectric
      @JoesAutoElectric  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I stead of wasting time playing with "part store diagnostics", take it to a competent shop and have it diagnosed properly. Just because someone else may have a similar thing happen, certainly does not mean it will be the same root cause, or even the same problem on another vehicle. Spend the money on competency instead of guessing.

As Paul Danner would say "Look for Contact Points". I have just started going to the junk yard. The let me go down to where they crush the cars and are cutting out all the harnesses. The let me go though and pull all the fuses, relays, pig tails, and bulbs I want for free. I left with a grocery bags worth last weekend. That a great way to get a collection of decent quality OEM fuses and stuff
