Every single video you put out comes right out of my questions list, I don't even bother asking you to do things because I know you're already gonna do them for the good of the surfskate community
it was about time that somebody did a honest review of the sharkwheels, they look so clearly inappropriate for rough terrains, respect for the original design, but it was sad that they pushed the marketing promoting fake qualities. Keep it up.
@@SurfskateLove I would like to thank you for the videos for this "sport", I am looking for the best experience and you're the man, while Patrick from Waterborne will be the dealer, for me. He has so damn good prices on fine products.
Yo adquirí un juego junto con los trucks y más de un mes y no han llegado, ya pedí el reembolso y hasta eso estoy batallando para que lo hagan, estoy en mexico
I like my Shark Wheels as well as my other wheels. I think the main difference is that Shark wheels have rounder edges versus the flat edges of other wheels, and that effects any wheel's grip... pumping & sliding. Shark wheels are most effective for me in wetter conditions. Bottom line: I keep a variety of wheels with me, and swap them out as needed. Good review!
I finally tried the 60mm California Rolls that I had lying around on my Yow Teahupoo. I’ve been riding them for about a month, now. I find these wheels to give much better slide control and don’t have as much foot fatigue after 30+ minutes of riding as compared to the stock wheels. I didn’t notice any deterioration in pumping performance as I am still able to ascend all the same inclines with the Shark Wheels. I use my surfskate for a lot of A -> B riding on the street and have to deal with a lot of crappy Illinois roads. Only real negative is that the smaller diameter Cali Rolls seem to get hung up easier on irregular sidewalks. Went back to try stock wheels, again, and didn’t like the fact that it was harder to slide to brake around cars and crowded areas. Will be switching back to the shark wheels...
I don't surfskate at all and I have shark wheels on my board and idk from experience how they are for surfskating but I will say they are amazing for going on roads with lots of gravel and little pebbles on it. I've never slid my board so I don't know how it is for sliding. Idk how fast I go with them compared to my other wheels. But one thing I do know is rough terrain these wheels kill it. I mean take any regular smooth wheel and everytime I hit a little pebble my board comes to a complete stop and I fall off(originally had 85mm orangatang) and these are small little pebbles. Most of these are half the size of a dime. But man hitting those with my 85s my board always stopped and It was a rough experience. Having the shark wheels I never have that experience now and I'm honestly afraid of going back to normal wheels cuz of how terrible normal wheels are for those stupid pebbles. Now the paved trails I go on are not gravel off road trails. They are paved asphalt but there are little pebbles here n there and my normal wheels simply can't handle them. So I do have to give it to shark wheels for being able to handle pebbles and small rocks. Is it good for sliding or going faster? Probably not but it definently is a must if you live in a place with bad road conditions that aren't perfectly clear and smooth.
Agreed! I have made my own version modifying regular wheels. I’ll carve out one or two wave grooves around the wheel but leave the edges pretty much normal. I find this gives the benefits of the Shark wheel but retain the better straight edge. I’ve done this with Caguamas, Superfly 107’s and TB 110’s (my favorite).
I'm enjoying the Surfskate Love wheels! Ordered a Soulboardy with Carver CX. Thanks for your recommendations. Wonderful for an older surfer/ skater. Easy to pump uphill and more than adequate for practicing bottom turns, cutbacks, etc.. Thanks for the time you put into the sport.
Another great review! Thank you. I also have a set of Shark wheels, 72mm, which I got for my longboard last year, mostly for the wet and was very unimpressed! I also tried them on my surfskate and again like you, I found they did not handle well. They are not comfy and slide out when you really don't want them to. This is mostly down to the reduced contact patch, but also and most importantly due to the soft/rounded edges. Traditionally, the more square the edge of the wheel is, the better the grip it will afford you. The more rounded a wheel is at its edge, the more release it will have. So normally rain wheels would have a hard square edge and three grooves cut into them to help disperse the water and still grip on the edge. As you said, they just seem sluggish and not much fun. I no longer ride these wheels on any of my boards... Thanks again for great honest content, keep up the good work :)

I saw all the videos the last year...and everybody said they were fine. Now I saw yours and another video I saw from a cool guy saying they don´t work so well and I believe it. Thank you I was just about!
Downhill wheel companies use the best materials and have the best research with capable riders. They optimize wheels for grip, slip, durability and most importantly the rebound of the specific formula used. I love Seismic wheels. Also used Orangatang and some downhill hawgs wheels. They are all fine. If I'm timing myself then usually Seismic thane with better rebound comes out ahead. Sharkwheels can't really keep quarter of the promises they give and a quarter would have been fine with what they promise.

It’s hard to choose a Srfsk8 wheel, because if you like to do check slides and cess slides and stuff like that, you don’t want a square lip because they’re hard to slide and the lips can hang up and chip. But if you really want to get down with the pump action, you want a sharp square lip for maximum grip. It’s a tough call.
Good to know. They called my attention due to the look and the fact that I run on rough surfaces. I've been surfskating for around a month and love it. I have a couple of Slide boards: Gussie and Evo Bandana. but I was wondering if I should get something like that for rough terrains, smaller ones for faster pumping, harder ones for easier snaps.... My area is quite rainy anyway and even with the 78a slides it feels risky pumping hard on wet surfaces (involuntary snaps sometimes) so I guess I should go on with the ones I have and try different stuff according to the surface and wet/dry condition depending on the day when I'm more experienced.
Your back foot was way back making it slide effortless. Move it forward a little bit more. From my surfing background you learn to move your back foot to loosen up the board or to make it stiffer for more control and efficient pump

I'm new to surfskateing and got my first YOW teahupoo last week. My question regarding wheels is, can I just experiment with differents width / diameter or is it best to remain around the same numbers my stock ones came in? Seems like the white wheels YOW ships their boards with aren't for sale on their website so should I want to change them, I guess I'll have to search for other ones
Here's my review: The formula feels great and it's very fast, but it chunks very easily. Which means they don't last long for surfskating, especially if you do a lot of snaps and slides.
Put a set on my blue haze cx. For me it just wasnt enough contact to get a good pump. I love these wheels for a to b and taking hills. I live in Illinois and it's fun seeing the rock that would kill me, just shoot out from the side of my wheel 😂
I had the same experience with my surfskate. I read all these good things about the shark wheels, but when I got them, I was so disappointed. I was wondering if it was just me, but seems it's not.
Shark Wheels are not so bad as you said. IF you pay 40 Euros for it. They are way too expansive. And hey they do an awesome Marketingjob. There is one thing you did not mention: IF you really slide, the lifetime of these wheels are 2 hours... THEN you have nice Surfskatewheels :))) because you have to use the o-tangs again :)))))
These wheels wear down quickly when used for checkslides. In addition, they easily breake traction. So nope, no good for surfskating at all. The thane is medium if not to say poor quality . Shark wheels are way overhyped & overpriced! There are wheels out there that are much better quality and still cheaper! Just my 2 cents. Awsum review Steve!
Love it! I am not sponsored by any companies, nor do I represent any. Soulboardiy is my favorite surfskate deck by far. I'll be doing a review of it soon.
The only thing Sharkwheels have going for them is that they kick out small gravel and rocks pretty well. They suck at everything else. Nothing more than a novelty item. The urethane and the cores are garbage. The special tread design could possibly be a great thing if Sharkwheel would actually invest in developing a great wheel, but they don’t. Its always marketing, gimmicks and false claims.

Very interesting

Sidewinder formula is softer than dna.
did you really like that deck, or u use it just for sponsor?

LOL They last longer - coz nobody is gonna use them LOL
😂
I don't like them with Surfskate cause the ride feels less smooth..
OK, so they have more grip and less friction at the same time that makes no sense
Do you still have them? :)
Nope
Audio is terrible
I know, right? Drives me crazy too. Tried a wireless mic to be able to speak while I ride. Didn't work so well. Just bought another mic.
