I have shark wheels on the longboard I use on campus. They're really smooth, especially on the more jacked up sidewalks and the cobblestone. They also provide really nice control when sliding.
When I first saw these wheels a while ago, I literally thought they were squares and I was like wtf

I remember two reasons there good was rainy days the grooves prevent hydroplane and the grooves push pebbles and tiny rocks aside or in the tred reducing chance of insta stop. kinda like just run it over.

Living in Ireland it’s fairly rare to get a smooth road where I live. Our roads are fairly old and stupidly bumpy and I was looking at these wheels for cruising more than anything. Deadly video, thanks!

@@abdullahal-shimri3091 sharkwheels are great, I've got a lot of dips where I am and choppy road and they work wonders, control would be key for potholes but they may help there if you can manual over the sharper spots
Interesting that the main reason the wheels were made like that is never mentioned. If you hit a rock, or a crack, or a driveway bump or something that would normally stop your wheels, these wheels don't stop, because they're always going at an angle... kinda like going over bricks straight is rougher than going over them at an angle. At least that's what the idea is...

+donaldrocks101103 I have two reviews of boards from the 80s and I will say, they are seriously an amazing versatile setup. You can ride street, vert, downhill, slide, or cruise all in one setup. I used to ride 8.5 popsicle decks for many years, but after buying a reissue deck, I have only ever skateboarded 80's decks and reissues since.

normal wheels = great for tricks, speed kinda sucks, a but rougher ride, but crap for long distance.
shark wheels = great for long distance cruising, very fast, really smooth rides, but crap for tricks.
depends on what you prefer.
They are made for longboarding which is usually long distance so that makes sense

I find my sharkwheels are fantastic for sliding/downhilling
Shark wheels are amazing for longboarding. I'm not even afraid to hit gravel going 20 down a hill with these, most pebbles fall between the cracks and the rocks hit the wheel and bounce off! There's also less surface area touching thr ground, reducing friction a lot, combined with some ceramics....what a smooth ride. 9.5 out of ten, best skate purchase I've made.

once upon a time way back in the dark ages of skateboarding we all rode big soft wheels ,it was a time not many skateparks but you could at least roll to the shops at a decent pace without shaking yourself to pieces

I've been riding my longboard with shark wheels for almost a year now and those wheels aren't really that much better than your typical longboard wheels EXCEPT that yes, they ride VERY smooth over rough terrain like sand, pebbles, cracks, etc. AND with the added benefit that you don't lose (too much) speed. On smooth asphalt or concrete they ride just the same as any longboard wheels.
I don't see see what use shark wheels would have for regular skateboarding but for longboarding they are useful for the aforementioned road/terrain conditions.

I put these on my regular skateboard today and they seem pretty sweet. Theyre much bigger than im used to so my board has way more pop. And i can run over sticks or manholes or rocks or even a soft patch of grass. And i went around the block only pushing 4 times so that was pretty dope. Lmao

Opinion:
These wheels need to be reviewed on Longboards against other wheels that serve Longboards.
Since I am a cruiser, using more penny's and longboards I will look into the shark wheels for the grip
The reason that shark wheels have so much well bite because there sharks and sharks like to bite

the wheels are shaped that way because it makes the wheels touch the ground with a greater surface area yet with less effort pushing because the curve makes it feel like your pushing less

Rusty Nugget but the stimulus are al little bit smaller that the durians, and since i do flatland freestyle, that little less weight comes nice in for that extra bit of pop, and with the durians i'll have to add extra risers (i like my tail a bit closer to the ground, whiteout turning my trucks to the low side) for that bigger size, due to a top-mount deck without cutouts ;) (my deck is the land yachtz hatchet, and for trucks i have my old and trusty paris v1's)

I used to skate with cruiser wheels on a standard deck, you can do just about anything with them, just have to accommodate for the slower rotation.
(I used to miss the last train and have to skateboard 15km home, so cruiser wheels were the happy medium)

You can't compare skateboard wheels with the shark wheels! It has nothing to do with each other... You should have done longboard wheels/shark wheels, because honestly I'm curious to see a difference there, except the shape. It would have been way more interesting.

I have used them on my cruiser board. only difference is you get better traction and grip on light sand or wet roads. no other difference stood out.

I've had some of these Shark wheels on a long board for about 9 months or so. They do ride incredibly smooth.

Can you put softer, longboard wheels on regular trucks for skateboards? I want to get a skateboard just to ride around smoothly for now, but I want to be able to change wheels and learn tricks when I'm ready I just don't want to have to buy a whole new board made for tricks. So, instead of buying a longboard, I thought just buying a skateboard and switching wheels might work. I just need some advice is all, thanks!
Yeah you totally can but depending on the size wheels you get you will want to buy some riser pads for the bigger wheels and then take them off when you smaller wheels

Just be aware you might get wheel bite as the longboard wheels are larger (that why you need the riser pads). Good luck!
I skate, cruise and do tricks with 60mm soft wheels on a normal deck with 1/4 risers its sick
or you could just leave riser pads on, that's what I do since I would switch my wheels around depending on what I'm doing on that particular day. Risers aren't that bad
As a longboarder in Pennsylvania, I prefer shark wheels. They work really well on gravel, pebbles, etc.. Great video by the way, keep up the good work
Reminds me of the old Coffin Cut wheels Bullet made back in the late 80s. Those were super hard vert wheels, though. Rough surfaces were just NOT happening. The slightest stone, and my board was 10 feet behind me...

Ive road shark wheels at the mall one time. There was a booth selling abunch of crazy skate stuff. Like Crazy Long boards and skateboards that aren't usually normal and weird parts, and the guy let me try out this longboard with those wheels and they were actually pretty cool and road well

I got a set of these wheels a while back. While they do make things feel different, it's certainly not impossible to have a decent to good session once you get the hang of them. I still use normal wheels, and primarily use these wheels on my banana board for cruising around. These Colorado roads can get pretty rough, and these wheels are designed to go over rough patches, cracks, even small rocks.

Funny video! I ordered a set of Sidewinder 70mm and I also installed new Bones bearings at the same time, (recommended). I like them, they go over those hateful uneven sidewalk surfaces much smoother. And after purchasing them, now I am wanting to ride even more! Worth the extra money over boring conventional wheels & gives you stability. Only downside is that I could not buy at my local skateboard shops anywhere here in Orlando FL. However, I did order from Shark Wheel direct and received them in 72hours. 👍Thumbs up Braille Guy! REMEMBER TO SAY NO TO DRUGS AND YES TO PIZZA!

yeah got a set of sharks on my cruiser, they're awesome for cruising and the deck's got the wheel arch cutouts so it doesn't wheel bite so ya can trick ride it pretty well, it's a bit heavy but it works

I'm a longboarder and I have 2 sets of shark wheels, one set of 60mm and one of 70mm, and I don't plan on using anything else anytime soon, they are so smooth and quiet and just look amazing, so if you are considering getting these wheels you should go for it
