@@AaronGeller that's true but that's because it's a gimmick. the angled blade doesn't perform any better and there's only one blade which is a noticeable disadvantage. An industrial planer has 3 or even 4 blades for a reason.

that tiny fence is not going to keep the planer at 90 degrees. That is a joke. If anything it just keeps the blade from running off to the right. You need a much deeper fence with a knob to push the fence against the board to maintain 90.
HL 850 was the first generation. The second generation was HL 850 E. The E stands for electronics, but I don’t know exactly what that entails here. The third and current generation is HL 850 EB, where the B stands for safety break. Here are some shortcut explanations for selected letters in Festool model names: R - relaunch, new version E - electronics, variable speed B - safety break Q - plug it cable FS - with guide rail FSK - with cross guide rail Plus - in a systainer EC - brushless motor
I like the front grip locking so depth will not change accidentally.
What in the handheld spindle moulder
That things awesome!
All the standard features you get with any plane then.
I don’t think most electric planers have their knives at an angle or allow different heads

Don't think this model is available anymore in Europe, the smaller one is

Festool makes such a fence
What the difference between this and the non E version?
