I really enjoy these videos where you diagnose an actual vehicle. Looking forward to more fixes!
+drm315 There will be plenty more I am sure.
Make sure you use some sun screen when you're out there! Great job, Brian. You son did a great job as a camera man, too.
Skin cancer was never a thing, until the invention of sunscreen.
It is cancer causing and poisonous to your body.
Every person I talk to say your the greatest your word is bond to many people..but anyway had the water issue with the 2004 ford freestar pcm...i took car of all that but now spins but no start checked fuel pump switch that's fine man o man what the heck is it thanks
I got a crazy E350 Box truck, 2007... it does some really wierd things.. but its had a new cluster and AOD work.
A Ford guy driving a Ram? That tells me everything.. great videos by the way
+gianfrancoa I just had to have that diesel if it didn't have a diesel I wouldn't have bought it.
+FordTechMakuloco how do you like the GM designed diesel engine? i hear there not doing to bad so far
+FordTechMakuloco Completely off topic (but something I think you can shed light on)... I'm driving a 2013 SHO and am at the end of my lease (20,500miles). I'm thinking of buying the car and keeping it. Any reliability gotchas? If so, does buying the Ford extended service contract really make sense?
😆😆😆 don't rub it innnnn lol
Dodge guy trying to be funny. If you go to his shop he actually has a Ford pickup to do real work. Everyone knows you don’t use a Dodge to do real work the transmission will break
I hope you make more videos of Ford F 150 97 lol learning a lot
Great Video As Always! I'm going to have to look into removing the drain plugs on my Taurus, I'm not sure if they are still there or not.
The electrical box in the pcmr prone to get water inside that's probably why it shuts off when he uses his windshield washers
I have been having some difficulty with my uncles 2004 ford freestar 3.9. it has a p0171 the parts that have recently been replaced are upper and lower intake gaskets b1 s1 oxegen sensor, pcv valve and hose, plugs , wires ,coil , mass air flow sensor .any ideas?also what is the best way to submit questions and or to contact you?
Tell me, if you will, where did you get the soft ware setup?
Its about time, i come across a real Diagnostic, along with a repair, i Schooled back in the 80's, though not long after having a belly full of Gut'in that goes with lineman work in a Dealership back then, i was blessed to have gotten work and training for Electrical Turbines, so i spent the next 15 yrs in the Mechanical Construction end, these past Ten yrs or so i have self taught in the obII Diagnostics, coming across this Video has really helped me know i have the right idea, for an Old School.
Again, thank you for the Video and Info.
Awesome!!!!
I use the Ford Dealer IDS software
Very informative. Thanks for making this video. I have been having the same problem with mine.
The moment where you laught after turing on the wipers its epic!! LoL Brian where do i get the scan and cable software? Thanks.
i have a 2006 mercury monterey , 87k miles on it. out of nowhere beginning to stall. battery is fine , engine stalls , steering gets tight and breaks freeze up a bit. any help would be appreciated ?
Did you find a fix ?
@@hajileserpud9539 yes after doing all new spark plugs , coils , egr valve was stuck open. Did a new cam shaft synchronizer also Throttle Body and Throttle Position Sensor.
@@jDot2414 WOW... Thanks for info but at 87k miles, sheesh
@@hajileserpud9539 yea terrible. I also moved to a new state so I didn’t have a trust worthy mechanic. So the first one I went to was just guessing. Then finally the second one I went to which people referred me to was a lot more organized and upfront about what was causing the issue.
@@jDot2414 yea actually I have a 2003 Ford E250 I inherited from my father in-law that only has 72000 original miles but can't move more than some inches because of a host of engine problems .. I'll follow what you did and see if I can fix it myself... Thanks buddy
Great info and video. I guess I wasn't really aware of a 3.9 V6 in any fords of that vintage. What is that engine based on? I have seen failing batteries cause some very strange issues that don't make sense. The vinyl top on that 500 is kinda horrid looking but to each their own I guess!
Hay I just wanted to tell you thank you for all your time and consideration and help. I enjoy your videos but, I bet you wish sometimes that you have a extra hand for the camera.... I found some video glasses or "spy glasses" and they can free up you hand so it would be easier for you to make more videos. I hope this helps you in the future. P.s. keep up the great work. Thanks again your fan Bob
Hi there from Puerto Rico...I have a Windstar 02 (3.8L)...Im looking for the Freestar but don't know wich model is better between the 3.9 or the 4.2 or just keep on the older 3.8...Thanks!
How are you able to utilize the Ford specific diagnostic/software tools? I assume since you previously worked for a Ford dealership that this allows you to use the software.
Any company can buy it, but it's pricy and has a monthly cost.
The ford's problem is water ingress to the pcm. It is a common problem on wet cold days, but it can be prevented.
Enjoyed watching the mobile calls Brian.
for the freestar, the hose that you cleared out, if its full of stuff, could that cause the passenger side inside the cabin to get wet after the rain?
Yes that is the main drain for the wiper cowl.
FordTechMakuloco grand marques as well?
FordTechMakuloco I need to test my fuel pump on my freestar where the test port on the fuel rail
I've fixed tons of the 4.6 Triton PCV hose issues.
Yeah we used to stock them even at the dealer.
Ironically, the one time I decided to use a Motorcraft part, they had to order it from the center dealership. Typically I just cut the part with the hole (where it turns) and place a plastic elbow there. I see they updated the design after 2006 and went to a polynomer, hard plastic tube rather than a rubber hose.
following along, good stuff
Hi How you doing Where are from I be watching your videos I have a 2005 Ford freestar My track light is on and my engine light And my RPN WHEN WE DRIVING THEY GO SO HIGH AND THEN IT BE SOUNDING LIKE A KNOCKING ON MY ENGINE WHAT I NEED TOO I LIVE IN THE CITY
Can you tell me how much it would cost for the IDS system.
+Richard Gill ids cost around $2400 plus the laptop and $849 a year after that.
are you enjoying the mobile repairs vs the dealer? itd be awesome if you could get some aftermarket garages to do business with on ford issues
+phil holbrook I am loving the mobile work, I am also looking into some independent repair shops and or collision shops that need things done like modules reflashed, pmi, zero seat calibrations etc when I am not busy in in the shop or on the road.
what laptop would you recommend to run the ids on? i ordered mine from the rotunda site for 1499.
+phil holbrook I would only recommend a Dell latitude laptop.
I have a 2005 ford freestar I having problems with. when its cold or raining it dies and haves a hard time starting back up
I'm experiencing the same problem on my 2004 Ford Freestar 3.9l when it rains! What'd you learn?
@@time2mowgrass CPU is getting wet.
@@johnkidwell370 yeah, probably. I did pull out the computer and tried to water proof it with silicone, but somehow it's still giving us grief.
@@time2mowgrass I am sealing my 2006 freestar up having just tuned it up and replaced some parts, trying to keep it running with 319000 miles. I know keeping moisture from penetrating the CPU is key to these cars running. I found that replacing EVAC valves help and clean the mass air flow sensor and throttle body, makes a big difference. Let me know if I can help diagnose further.
@@johnkidwell370 wow 319000 miles! That's fantastic!
good day happen to know the resistance table of bijias cables for ford freestar 2006 4.2 lts Please
Hi I know this is different question. I have 2006 ford 5.4 3v same time has low idle and went shift to 2 gear feels like the hand brake is on but on the freeway go normal. And I found oil inside of my intake I remove my throttle body to clean it and I notice about the oil. Do you have any idea what it is?
My issue is I got a 2005 Ford stalls out immediately after putting it in drive
Starts right up can put it in reverse or neutral Orr Park doesn't die out
Only in drive
Ha. Well trained kid. I know when jumping a battery you're supposed to do it in the correct sequence and that's what I saw here (except for the acknowledged incorrect ground). Every time and I mean EVERY time I've assisted someone jumping their car they immediately snatch the leads and start connecting clamps to everything anyway they can without a thought and then get angry when you try to tell them otherwise. Every. Single. Time.
how are you able to log into PTS without being at a dealership
+Mario Campuzano
I was wondering the same thing? Seems someone still "is" @ the dealer still STARS too I bet.
Some of us Ford Dealer techs that no longer work at the dealer have too pay big ones for access. Like 2500 a year just for PTS. If you want training thats another 2500.
free tip- I would leave that out of your next video just incase FoMoCo is watching
How is the eco diesel?
Okay what would be the reason u should not put the negative jumper cables on it for I rather do then put it on Engine but what be reason u shouldn't
+Christian Leatherman They say the spark of the last connection could ignite the gases coming out of the battery vents and sure maybe it could in a closed up shop on a battery that has been overcharged and is venting but in the real world the venting is so insignificant especially outside I still always put the last connection on the battery post no problems.
Oh alright yeah I just making sure cause I been doing it that way for long time just seeing reason was
And hey man since u know Ford's more than I do cause that's how I found u is by searching this vehicle . I have a question about it I was looking at the vehicle yesterday and I did a test drive it checked it out good drives really good. It has brand new tires transmission shifted good no problems and everything else but I wanted to know what u thought about them it's a 2007 Ford freestyle with 131 thousand miles and I read some things on it on line. before I thought about buying it and heard they had problems with the transmission acting up and had to have it replaced but im not sure about it. I really like the vehicle everything works on it but I don't know much about them I work on cars and I can do alot I just don't have a shop so I checked it out but it seems to be on key as soon as u hit the gas to make it go. It up shifts and down shifts good and when u have to make a real complete stop quick it does like it supposed to no problem just wondering what u could tell me about them that would help me out before I pay almost 7,000 thousand for it in payments and also they said it's 4wd but I checked every where and did not see anything like button or switch so unless it's automatically 4wd or something then it doesn't have it
You can buy it sure but when that trans fails you will pay dearly that trans is over $5k by itself! We didn't see many trans failures until they got to the higher mileage as yours is so I caution you on buying this.
Great video Sir.
Hi! I am new looking your videos and I like it. I got question . I am working in a 150 Ford 5.4 engine , I replace The cam phaser tensioner guide, chain, vct solenoid, lifters, and driver side cam shaft and one rocker arm , and cilender number 8. And still run bad after warmed up. Somebody can help please.
gread vids, where u live, chicagoland? im in the south suburb of chicago "orland park"
+Scott J Yep I work the whole chicagoland area but live out west in the Plano area.
Are landau roofs popular in your area? ;-)
+eformance Seems so I have seen allot of them and I remember my parents had one put on their new Lincoln town car back in the 90's it was all the rage.
i think you make nice videos.
Thanks!!
very good, thanks.
great video thanks
nice taking son with u.
Would've never guessed a ram. Cummins is the best though
What made you buy a dodge over ford?
How do u access the ford server
+Donald McCall (Donny) You must have credentials as a independent repair shop.
the washer fluid would only leak down to computer on passenger side when driving. ..thats why it would die..
A ram?! The cummins is the best diesel though. Wish ford had made that partnership!
Brian new ram is a 1500 series and is not a cummins. i
I believe it's a Fiat diesel being that they are now partnered with chrysler
I like the ford tech is driving a ram...yep
17:11 civic behind you is missing air in back tire
lol, picked that up as well
I like the tip
Anybody see that old blue truck in the background? i saw that and my attention went all towards figuring out what kind of truck that is. im thinking , just from seeing it in the background, that its a mid sixties f series truck. sorry. i like old trucks. :)
+Walker Ashcraft Hi i saw it also, looks like good shape, yeah looks late 60s early 70s ford
but you have a dodge?????? I help my dad TOO good job
Can't blame you driving something else so you can get warranty work done lol. Not blaming ford.
Ford man that drives a dodge?
+eddie martinez Yes see why here- th-cam.com/video/C8RnrdJ_mPA/w-d-xo.html
Hey i had a ford ranger the a ford f150 then a silverado then dodge big horn now i am back in a silveado I am not putting you down just asking.
You know I watch all of your videos and hear you tell us how bad imports are.... and how Fords are solid cars...but yet here we are with the same old crap. Ford penny pinching on parts... And what does that tell you when Dorman makes better parts than Ford OEM?
Freestars have a lot of issues. Ford has a lot of issues!!!! Run the washer longer. Freestars has a lot of water electric issues!!!! PCM and or fuse relay box water issues. Been there done that😡 won’t test for water on electrical components 😂 !!!!!!!! Your getting closer
Drives a Dodge to go fix found on road dead. AkA Ford's lol
But you know what Fords are still tough as nails versus General Motors.
Buy a Toyota
A ram?! The cummins is the best diesel though. Wish ford had made that partnership!
+Lucas Buzby This is actually a VM Motori engine from overseas.
