I initially dismissed the Bugout based on the "cheap feel", but now that I have one- I really like it. I carry small fixed blade when I know I need knife and I really don't think I would harm the Bugout on the tasks that I use my other folders. The weight and locking mechanism are what won me over.

Just ordered one. It's my first benchmade knife, I told myself if I didn't like the feel of the scales I could upgrade to the titanium scales, or get a griptilian in g10 later

yep, I recently got one of these, been getting top bill in the rotation, I keep going to it. Has so many positives, not totally without faults, but a great edc blade no doubt.

I definitely agree with you, I’m a knife guy and this is definitely more minimalist, I like the bug out for the reason it has that plastic feeling, but I’d never use it for heavy work.

This is exactly why I collect knives of all sizes and weight. When I’m in jeans and boots I’m usually carrying my Recon1. If I’m in a pair of light shorts and flip flops then the bugout will probably be in my pocket. It’s always nice to have options. 🍻

Great review. Very seldom do I agree with everything said but this is the exception to the rule. I believe it is a great EDC for light cutting. If doing anything heavier something with full liners would just feel better in the hand.

Is it a little pricey? Yep! But I bought one of each anyway. Added carbon scales to the DLC coated one. I love them. Disappears in shorts or sweats. Does any daily task you need it to, within reason. Blade shape and size as well as overall package are perfect for my hands and use and no other knife has the same benefits, for me. I flip between 535 and 940 for EDC mainly.

Nearly every knife I have bought you have reviewed or are about to review. Hinderer xm-18 m390 swedged spear in black stonewashed dlc, manix 2 DLT red, shaman, and now the DLT benchmade Grip with carbon fiber and m390...now all you need to review is boos blades smoke in CF and my spyderco R2 and you pretty much got them all . No wonder I like this channel so much haha.

I carried a mini grip for 3 tears give or take and its starting to be a bit beatin. so I bought a bugout as a replacement. I really expected it to be similar but its not at all really. after about 2 weeks of carrying the bugout I can say I've really come around to it. I am hard on knives but the mini grip stood up to it. I've not changed the way I use my edc and so far the bugout is much tougher than it looks and feels. all in all I'm pretty happy with it. it can take alot more punishment than you'd think by feeling it. opened about 10 cans with it this week in the woods and did some small bushcraft tasks with it just for fun. still tight like a nun and smooth as butter. no complaints.

I’m retired now and I walk a few miles a day for exercise. I bought this knife specifically for my exercise shorts I wear. Yes it’s a cheap feeling knife, however, it suits light weight clothing very well.

I just got my 2nd Bugout. 1st was the Blackout version from Blade HQ and the 2nd was this version, and I was not as lucky as you with the centering. I love the knife, but both I received were horribly off centered. Not sure how to fix this. This could be my favorite knife if it wasn't for the very awful centering. Any ideas on how to fix this without replacing scales or returning?

It'd be nice to see this knife compared to the Buck 112 slim pro in Micarta and S30V. I'm interested in both but no dealers have the Buck for me to handle.

I.just got the benchmade bugout blue and I absolutely love it no blade play and the blade is dead center but its def very light compared to my other benchmades and spydercos I got it new for 112 bucks i think the price is ok for a bench made

I bought the Bugout Cf Elite, because it was on sale for under $100 and I love it! Surprising, because I tend to carry big knives. Wonders never cease. :-)
Disclaimer: I almost always carry at least four knives at a time.

Been on the fence with the Bugout. I'd immediately swap out the scales with a CF one. Is it "worth" it? Probably not. But it sure would be cool looking. Just might do it...

My problem with BM is their prices with g10.. add 60 $ at least.. kinda why my last 3 over 100 $ are all spydercos. 2 Manixs and a Yojimbo. I’ll get a pm2 and a shaman before I go bm. Don’t get me wrong I know they make good stuff but a griptilian in g10 is 175$ I refuse to spend 100 for plastic

So they want us to pay more for this one with the coated blade than a Manix 2 in 20CV?🤔
    Nope!
Benchmade is weird. The 940 better value for example is the one with 20CV, 199 against 187 for the regular one, and there is no way the CF makes it a 275 knife no matter 90cv.
    I’ll wait for the 20CV Bugout...😏

Although I think Benchmade named it horribly, I really like my Bugout. When I think of a bugout knife, I imagine a beefy fixed blade survival knife with a hollow handle for matches and a wire saw.
It is a great little EDC knife though. Also a lot tougher than it looks and feels. I abuse mine pretty regularly, and it still looks and feels new. FRN is to knives what polymer frames are to handguns. Purists hate it and think it’s cheap and flimsy, but look how everyone has a Glock clone now.

I also hate the Benchmade Bugout!!! I also think it feels flimsy and very cheap, it's also in my opinion overpriced for sure!!! I like how you came to your own conclusion on the Bugout, because everyone and their mother seems to love the Benchmade Bugout. When Cody(WranglerStar) said in a youtube video of his that he really hated the Bugout, a lot of people in the youtube knife community were triggered and basically they lost their shit!!! TH-camrs were making videos of saying how and why Cody(WranglerStar) was wrong and how he was an idiot. Like yourself and Cody(WrangletStar) I'm able to make my own opinion and can think for myself, I didn't drink the Benchmade Bugout Kool-Aid like everyone else did. Here's a link to Cody(WranglerStar) video about the Benchmade Bugout that triggered everyone - th-cam.com/video/TXm_GTDXfNk/w-d-xo.html
