She's right on all of her points. I've been living there since 2006 and as the years go by, SLO county keeps getting worse. Homeless is climbing. Homes are getting too expensive. Traffic is nearly at a standstill. Rent has gone through the roof. Pollution at all levels is slowly climbing. Jobs pay at either minimum wage or at least near it (unless you have a specialty career like a lawyer, doctor, management, or thriving business). I do own a home there but lucky for me, I bought at the right time when the housing market was just starting to recover and things where still cheap. Then I found out that many people, like me, have a home there but work in a different city and commute, that's crazy, but you gotta do what you gotta do to survive in SLO county.
Homeless is absolutely an issue and needs to be addressed. The cost of homes is expected, we live in a desirable area so home prices will be high. You don’t need to be a doctor or lawyer to buy a home in SLO. My wife is a teacher and I oversee business development for a local company, we bought a SFH at SLR. Traffic is still nothing compared to bay or LA. Crime is still basically non existent here (high cost of living helps keep it that way IMO). There are good paying careers you just need to be college educated to get them. My company starts off employees at $60k per year.
