Those people who live here in this area who don't really want to have a bunch of other people living in the area. Rich kind of attitude because if you live in Central Coast, which is like Santa Maria, Guadalupe, Morro bay basically the richest places in the world, not Santa Maria so much, But the secret areas that is between point sal. And let's say Santa Barbara, that nobody talks about where Ellen DeGeneres lives in that sort of area. which is on the other side Santa Barbara County Not Santa Luis obispo county. You just have to make one little skip to Santa, Barbara or LAX which is right like down the street and when she says like whatever she said about the whatever the minutes where. That is if you drive if you fly, it's like 20 minutes. Now, having said that, I... I'm with the snobs we don't really need you to be coming here. Around here or around the central coast", because there's plenty of people, there's plenty of money and we don't need tourism or anything so you know, bugger off basically, as the English would say.😊

If you like rich rednecks driving too fast in big trucks or snobby yuppies who think they are “progressive,” then by all means, move to the SLO area. Happiest place in the US? According to the CA dept of Public Health, SLO ranks 12th of the 44 CA counties in suicides. The Central Coast is garbage to live in. Come for a weekend and then get out, for your own sake!

Raised in Grover city 70s to 1998. I just returned recently and wow has it all changed but also remained the same. It's an odd mix of wealth and ghetto funky beach living.

The second home is beautiful - what would that sell for? HOA fees? Pets allowed?

Looking for small cottages style home for me a 70’s senior and my tiny chihuahua. No hoa. Maybe two bedroom two bath and an artist studio or space. I paint landscape don’t want any yard work but a few plants or lemon trees. Easy maintenance. Also need to use Prop 19 for taxes. Want to walk to beach but not in a flood area. Anyway, does this area have any senior center activities? I’d like to socialize with others and make friends. Stand alone house with crawl space. Not slab. I really enjoy the small beach town and you’re very friendly and informative.

I lived there 10 years and went through hell with the cops simply because they had an ongoing "war" (little did I know at first) with my fiance who was from there. Crooked cops. Otherwise, very beautiful. Mts, beach, and desert..all in reach. Beautiful. Hot, but after moving back to Washington State..I can't get used to the cold again. 😂

I grew up in the 5 cities/ Pismo Beach, Calif. I went to school there and graduated there. After grauation i traveled 46 of our 50 United States..I also visited Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas..I graduated 1977. Years later when I returned home, I didnt even recognize the area. All the Natural beauty had been destroyed. Concrete and Neon lights were now everywhere, including shopping malls, and the beaches ( my old play ground and love of my youth) were changed to gaurd shacks and beach patrol officers...all the family owned little resturants and tourist shops had been replace.. Prices were through the roof.. I wanted to cry...my memories were destroyed...All those rich people who retired with their big pentions from L.A. and San Francisco came here and bought up all the coastal land to build their big, fancy, expensive homes, which in turn raised the cost of living here and those same people turn a Natural landscape beauty into another Disneyland...they have priced the locals out, so many had to leave...It breaks my heart so bad to see it the way it is now, I will never return...Ill keep my loving memories in my head and in my photo albums...

Another thing people may want to know is a lot of the locals have become homeless due to skyrocketing home prices. Now they are injecting drugs and engaged in prostitution and theft all over the place. It's not like it was 20 years ago, that's for sure! I'm getting out of this central coast hell hole

All those mansions shown here have no character, you can tell nobody lives in them.

I really miss visiting the sand dunes in Pismo. It has been ruined for years by people telling us to stop having fun. Save some tiny bird and forget about family’s having a place to spend time together outside of the house. Put a Mask On and Safety Glasses on when visiting here, you don’t want their ideas to influence you.

Spent a long time along the Central Coast. That area, the five cities south of SLO, have chilly weather, poor access to just about any competitive retail markets (expensive!) and generally high cost of living overall.

The only downside we see as retirees wishing to relocate to the area is no access to the excellent health care provided by Kaiser Permenente. And congratulations on 1,000 subscribers!

Just found your channel and subscribed! I’m a Cal Poly grad from 2007 and now married w/ a family and we still love the central coast and we visit 2-3 times a year. Would love to live there some day but obviously cost of living is the barrier to entry. Anyway I notice you have a ton of videos on the subject and I’ll be watching them over time. Thanks🤙

The only good paying jobs here are government jobs. The hiring was taken over in the late 1980's by managers hired from LA and SF. After that they only hired people from out of the area unless you were connected to a local who worked in the local governments. The long time locals were squeezed out by that and the exploding house prices.

Boring as hell town. Good for vacationing or maybe retirement, but thats about it. Summer is amazing though especially in Pismo.
