Would be great if you can share some videos on building leg muscle post ACL surgery and stomach muscles too. Thanks once again.
Tried this challenge. I'm 40 and lost 64lbs via keto. I can do about 45 straight and I typically max out at 150ish per day. Pushups are great... I started weighing 237lbs and basically did 3 or 4 pushups to start, the rest were from the knees, slowly but surely you build up endurance and strength . For anyone reading this.. if a 40 year old man suffering from fibromylsia can do it, so can you. Push it.
My workout routine: 100 jumping jacks, 40 sit-ups, 40 push-ups, 1min. Plank, and do that again 4 more times, Of course gnna take little breaks and it's not gnna be easy
I’ve never seen this before or any instruction. Going off what i’ve done over the yrs, this is EXTREMELY accurate. Didnt know an actual true video like this was out there haha. I got 230 push ups in one go. My buddy that is more committed to this got 350. This is by far the most efficient way and I highly recommend.
:'D Hold your elbow up with your other hand, make a fist and gently rotate your elbow My knee cracks every now and then doing squats and it helps to rotate my knee
For the people that can't do 5 PUSH UPS...I recommend to do WALL PUSH UPS..So what I did was I said I can't even do 5 normal push ups with my weight so I did Wall push ups..so I did 50 the first day then 100 the second day and try to go STRAIGHT TO 200 WALL PUSH UPS I'm not saying you can't push to stretch like duh duh do 50 then 50 then 50 then 50 and for the beginners do like 20 Wall push ups and aim for 100..So now see if you can do knee push ups..so the first day on knee push ups do 30 then the next day aim for 50 then TRY YOUR HARDEST for 100 knee push ups and stop the knee push ups when you see your self doing 0 - 200 knee push ups..if you can do that now do the normal push ups! I hope this comments helps :)
George Cosarba hi. I'm on my fatloss journey currently and tomorrow I'll complete a total of 2 months in this healthy lifestyle journey of mine. I'm obese and so far in these two months I've lost 6 kilos and I've really already accepted the healthy lifestyle and everything's going great. I do cardio, HIIT ,some strength training 6 days a week in my 1 hour session for each day. I've really progressed in many ways and many exercises and I'm obese which means before these two months I didn't even know the n of nutrition and I'm just 17 so you can figure out how tough it is for a person like me. the only exercise/move i still can't do are pushups. it's just too hard for me and I really wanna do it but it's just not happening no matter what I do.
You can start with assisted push ups (The one where you use your knees for help) and progressively start getting better at it!, Also good luck on your journey.
I followed this program and I went from 20 pushups to 60 pushups in 60 seconds. Of course the progressive overload by Rez is very vital if you want to improve. I slowly added more and more weight into my backpack as I did my pushups and it went up to 15kg on my back. Once I removed the 15kg, I felt like a feather!
Summary: 1) correct form 2) program to follow 3) progressive overload Do 4 sets of 12 reps 8-12 develops strength and endurance (12 More reps with lighter load solely endurance) When 4 sets of 12 gets easy add weight and increase gradually over time (progressive overload) Bonus: stay tuned for cringe worthy bench press form. 3:29
@@keliswickland7936 correct bench press form is the same as correct push up form. Its the same workout one is bodyweight the other is on your back pushing the weight away from you. So elbows straight, bringing the bar down to about the end of your sternum maybe a bit below and back up to directly over your chest. Its harder this way at first but you'll get used to it. Breathe in when the bar comes down, exhale when you push up. I don't bench press but i know how to do it properly
I’ve been doing push ups for some time now. I started with 5 a day then increased to 5, then 10, then 15, then 17, then 19 and now 20. It’s gotten much harder and I seem to be stuck at 20. I’ll try your program to try an increase the no. Of pushups I can do. Thanks for well made video🙏
Just stick with it, I remember when I first started I fixed my form and it helped a lot... work on your form arms straight up and down... don't let your elbows flair out to far.... and drink some chocolate milk or something after
Man, it cringed me so hard when he started to talk about why having a correct form is important while also not doing the full range motion of a right pushup.
you're flaring your elbows when doing the bench press, aka bad form. you're supposed to keep them tucked the way you have them in your push ups. moreover you're not engaging your back muscles which helps with the lock out phase. it's hard to take you seriously when you're seen with bad form.
😭😭😭😭 You wonderful human being. Thank you so much for this video. I have never been able to do a push up in my 19 years of life for some reason but now I think I can with the whole 'negative push up' and the reps. Thanks again. 😁
Ivan Quiles I'm actually going into the naval academy, and the pushups require a full range of motion that is strictly monitored. It's the same for all of the exercises of course (pullups, crunches, etc.) I'm not saying I'm a bodyweight exercise beast(spoiler, I'm not) but I can do 80 pushups with correct form, and I'm always seeking improvement.
Thank you so much for this video I'm definitely going to try this out for the first month of 2017! And I know I can do it because I used to do at least 30 sit-ups everyday for like 2 months then I got lazy 😂😂 and this will help a lot because I am in the NJROTC (Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Core) program in my school and I am in the armed drill team where we have rifles and if we don't shut up we need to drop and do push ups and I struggle and I'm the only girl there and with that and they always make us do a lot because the guys talk a lot but we need to do everything as a team and I really hate being the only one who can't do pushups and I really think this will help! Thanks for this video and I hope in one month I am able to do at least 20 in a row! (damn I know thats a Lil but I can't even do one but I'm going to try my best!)
Peter Liljebladh push-ups are generally looked at as a basic exercise so considering this, I would think that doing push-ups to improve your bench would be better. But after all, they both will benefit both. The problem is, bench isolates the chest, where as push ups utilize more of the body. So what happens is, if you haven't developed basic muscle in the chest from push-ups and go straight into a heavy bench press, you can injure yourself. So get boss at push-ups then start benching.
***** Okay 1. It's true bench uses your anterior delts, triceps, pectorals so it's not necessarily a isolation workout. But this being said, I doesn't use the core to stabilize itself like in a push-up which utilizes the entire front of your body to remain aligned throughout the push-up. So when comparing the two...which we are... bench press is more isolated than push-ups. 2. I specifically said, "if you haven't developed basic muscle in the chest from push-ups and go straight into a HEAVY bench press, you can injure yourself." Of course if you bench with incredibly low weight you will not injure yourself but that's not what I was arguing. Most of the time beginners put more weight than they can handle not wanting to look weak. Ive seen it a million times. People stack more than needed weight and their elbows bend out and they writhe in pain just to get 4 reps up. Obviously leaving them susceptible to injury. Or if they would rather feel humiliation using their cute little 8kg bar, they can sure do that lol. Also if your a fat person, there is plenty of push-up variations that massively decrease the load such as push-ups on your knees, or push-ups off of a wall standing at a 45 degree angle. It's quick easy and puts more control in the hands of a beginner. And also it can be done anywhere at home where this "fat person" is much more likely to succeed in getting in shape not feeling embarrassed. You took my words out of context, argued your points, then told me to get my facts right. This alone tells me you are simple one track minded jack ass that tries to asert dominance over random people on the internet to try and feel better about yourself. You also choose someone who is just trying to give an opinion on the matter. I never claimed my statements were facts. They are just what I have learned from my personal experience. But hey this reminds me why I typically keep to myself and could care less about people. You try and give some advice to help someone out and here comes fuck boy to the rescue to take my opinion out of context, claim that I claimed my opinion as facts, "disprove them", all the while feeling so content with their self.
I also did a 100 push up challenge a day and I’m doing it on 4 or 5 sets but I think I could do more if I do it in a correct form. Thanks for this video.
Take 2 dumbbells 5-10 kg and touch your hip boness with your elbows, now try to try to keep the distance between your wrists as far as possible, your arms shoud form a ''V-shape'' with approx 60 degrees, now do curls, if you dont feel your shoulders, you are doing it wrong, (you can do it without any dumbbells too) tell me if it works ;)
Thank you for showing and explaining the negative pushups. I can do elbows out just fine but cant get the elbows in without feeling like my triceps are tearing, not just a little pain, its up there. Being taller with longer arms it puts a lot more leverage on the muscles, so I definitely need to do negatives to develop the strength I've not properly trained.
Push ups - done with proper technique and pace - are a total upper body workout. The way he does them in this video makes it appear to be a "sprint". That's just not the point at all. If anything, do half quickly and really focus on the negative portion to ensure you can hit muscle fatigue. Otherwise, it's just going through the motion. Chest and Shoulders definitely see benefits from push ups...
Thumbs up bro, this is absolutely ingenious. I've been wanting to get back into pushups for a really long time but haven't had the motivation because I would do four sets of twenty five consistently and it got boring fast. However this re-motivated me, makes me want to do it and for some reason I never thought of doing pushups with weights so thank you!

I like how this is the only youtuber who isn’t like: “okay guys to do push-ups we recommend you do 1000 push-ups each day and you can toss in 500 pseudo push ups in there, a good 250 full planche pushups, 100 reps of 400 pounds bench press, run 30 miles per day, and do 1000 pull-ups each day.”
i wear a back pack when i do push ups, i started with 20lbs in the bag and now i’m up to 55lbs. i still can’t do more push ups than i used to be able to though
You don't need to increase weight, just perform more reps SLOWER! Really slow down each pushup as much as possible and focus your mind on the muscles being used. It is NOT quantity, it is quality. 100 pushups a zillion miles an hour really amounts to little as opposed to say 20 or 30 Quality slow pushups which are far more demanding with regard to overload.
Xxicy_12xX when you do a push up u go done and up. The up part is the primary movement because it targets the primary muscles( chest and triceps). The down part is a STABILIZATION movement meaning you are using your muscles to bring you down as to oppose to just letting gravity do all the work. Basically it's good( somewhat necessary) to work on just the down( negative) 1st so later you can focus on the primary muscles
Buy a perfect push-up set. I broke my wrist many years ago and it hurts to do push-ups ever since if I do them on my hands. Gripping the bar puts much less pressure on the wrist. So now I exclusively use those unless I’m traveling etc
Trust me this really works.I couldn't even do even a single pushup.I started doing 8 negative pushups for the first week and second and third week I did 10 and 4th week 12.Finally now I am able to do my first pushup after 1 month of hardwork.Don't forget to give 2 days rest per week.
I honestly don't know how a man has to train for this long to achieve 1 push up you're fat or you have the worst genetics in the entire world or you were very young when posting this How many you can do now??? Surely you must be able to do a lot after 2 years I mean I do 60 after 3 mounths of training
What's the time interval in between sets ? I would assume it's 60 seconds. I use a custom techinque - 10 pushup survival mode. Which means I do 10 pushups, take a 60s cooldown and do it over and over again until I can't lift my arms. And it works, but it's a bit time consuming.

what if your body weight is just too much you literally die just forming a plank position for 5 seconds? ;-;
Anaid thank you! and I've tried that too lol but it just put some extra pressure on my knees

I can do 60 too
And 20 push ups with 20 kilos on my back

Big Brain Time:
"If u can't do 100 pushups,
Just go do 100 pushups!"
Summary:
1) correct form
2) program to follow
3) progressive overload
Do 4 sets of 12 reps
8-12 develops strength and endurance
(12 More reps with lighter load solely endurance)
When 4 sets of 12 gets easy add weight and increase gradually over time (progressive overload)
Bonus: stay tuned for cringe worthy bench press form. 3:29
I have no idea what proper bench press form is, but it looks like he really needs to move his arms directly above his shoulders.

Sam Karr seems legit...
you're flaring your elbows when doing the bench press, aka bad form. you're supposed to keep them tucked the way you have them in your push ups. moreover you're not engaging your back muscles which helps with the lock out phase. it's hard to take you seriously when you're seen with bad form.

Whitch is the better approach? Doing pushups to improve your bench pressing abillity or bench pressing to improve your pushup abillity?
Peter Liljebladh.benching to improve your bench
Peter Liljebladh use both to improve both
Peter Liljebladh push-ups are generally looked at as a basic exercise so considering this, I would think that doing push-ups to improve your bench would be better.
Peter Liljebladh push ups then bench press

Being taller with longer arms it puts a lot more leverage on the muscles, so I definitely need to do negatives to develop the strength I've not properly trained.
for a guy who can do 100 pushups like nothing, his chest isn't very convincing.
Alex Villarreal hes doing it right at 1:15 but when he does it fast and shallow its not doing much compared to full extension
Yes, on 1 minute mark he's doing it right, but on other parts he isn't.
Press ups are more for chest.
Chest and Shoulders definitely see benefits from push ups...
calisthenics doesn't really build size, more of an endurance thing rather than raw strength

Because you don't have to improve strenchgtu, but endurance.
@@MarkWillmore how would you do that? More reps?
@@leumas4552 Yes, exactly. Higher reps.
1:01 you weren't doing push ups like that . You were just rushing it . It's about quality not quantity

CanadianBeaverzz do negative push ups like he did the video. And practice the movement and I'm sure you'll get better.
Start by doing push ups from your knees and do 12 x 3. Add up by doing negative push ups if you cant reach 12
Road to Six Pack what are negative push ups?
Xxicy_12xX slowly lower yourself and hold your weight up until you hit the ground, then get up and repeat
Ever since my wrist injury, push ups are the quite difficult. It’s hard for me to break 50
No issues ..50 is good. Give a 90 secs break and again do 50 again ... dont stress ..be safe be healthy :-)
I honestly don't know how a man has to train for this long to achieve 1 push up you're fat or you have the worst genetics in the entire world or you were very young when posting this
How many you can do now???
Surely you must be able to do a lot after 2 years
I mean I do 60 after 3 mounths of training
What's the time interval in between sets ? I would assume it's 60 seconds. I use a custom techinque - 10 pushup survival mode. Which means I do 10 pushups, take a 60s cooldown and do it over and over again until I can't lift my arms. And it works, but it's a bit time consuming.
