Hi graeme. some of these fish were under the minimum legal size. all fish are landed onto a foam pad and de-hooked at the same time. this minimises stress and reduces injury. far better than gaffing. undersized fish are released without any harm. the survival rates of released fish in this manner would be very high. the editors chose not use any of this footage. I might also add that our catch, on average, is checked by fisheries officers monthly.

65 cm. all undersized fish were released alive
