Messi and Ronaldo definitely have him beat on the numbers but for pure entertainment atleast to me none of them comes close to Ronaldinho. It was pure joy to watch him play. Every game u just sat and waited for some magic to happen and more often than not it did happen. What was so facinating about Ronaldinho was that everyone loved him even if he beat your team, he was playing with that smile on his face every game looking like he had the time of his life. Which he probably did. He just loved to play.

A lot of people will throw talent and hard work as the only thing needed to be good but the most important thing I believe is mentality, you need to have confidence to pull off those tricks in a game, I played football for years and years and played like a prime Maradona in practice but played below average in games but I realized that what I needed was the input the same mentality I had into practice for games, that’s what Ronaldinho had, he had that confidence to do whatever, whenever and however

Ronaldinho is considered the most skilled player in history by many . conquered many important titles in its peak that unfortunately lasted only a short time. He does not have a career like that of Cristiano and Messi. But at its peak it was the best the world saw with the ball at its feet. his charismatic and Brazilian way enchanted the world. Because Brazil is considered the country of football. It inspired players, it won everything a player can win. made history in the selection where he won a World Cup (most important football championship). He's a legend. The Magic Maker a brazillian dance style player with insane skill Assisted mentored Messi and passed on the torch one of just eight players to have won the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the Ballon d'Or

The way you defend against him is to stop him getting the ball in the first place. If that fails you have two players defending in tandem, one gets close and uses physicality while the other one drops and looks to collect the ball when he inevitably goes past the first guy.
But it's definitely not simple. He is a magician.

We Brazilians are very demanding with our players, and I think that only Ronaldinho is unanimous, I've never seen anyone not like him

Before Ronaldinho became a football playerhe was a futsal player, which is pretty much indoor football but with a few differences, notably a smaller field which means that player have to be much more technically advanced to outplay their opponents. Ronaldinho used his skills he learned there in his football career. Also there is a video of different players juggling a ball while blindfolded. Many well known players tried and only managed a few but Ronaldinho did it like it was nothing.

If there's anyone born for soccer, it's Ronaldinho. I'm almost retired, I noticed many years ago, his ball control is out of this world and I've never seen anything like that in any player to this extent. In addition to his tripping skills, you shouldn't forget his hard and absolutely precise shot from every position. Of course, the position of your teammates is also intuitive in the scramble, although it is actually up to each player to position themselves as optimally (playable) as possible.
With more such players, soccer would be a lot more attractive to watch.

Funny thing nowadays is the ref is most likely to stop a player like this due to showmanship... i never understood that. Why would you stop someone actually moving the ball and using Football skills while you do not punish the time wasters who take the corner and keep the ball near the corner flag so the tiem would pass and the ball would be in play... Not punish the people who when fouled keep rolling or being on the ground like someone broker their legs and then 2 seconds after get up as if nothing happened... that is something i will never understand. Its like telling an athlete not to run too fast bcs there are slower runners near him... Loved watching Ronaldinho :D

The Magic Johnson of soccer. Absolutely. He is not the best player ever (though there was a period when he was the best player in the world, hence that golden soccer ball trophy), but he is one of the most popular ever. You could see he ENJOYED the game and HAD FUN! And the fans had fun watching him have fun. He probably made soccer more popular than any single player. Because he was an entertainer. He did not really have the killer instinct of a Magic Johnson and certainly not of a Larry Bird as he seemed sometimes to enjoy entertaining than wanting to win (like a Harlem Globetrotter), but he was awesome. The only thing I am angry at him for is that he never trained and partied too hard. His dominance was short because his body was just not healthy when he got a little older.

10:25 there are people in this country (UK) who have played all their lives and dont understand that. I call it throwing intent, if you can "throw intent" in Basketball,Football Rugby or whatever, you become impossible to read. Faking is not exactly throwing intent, a fake is not enough, you have to actually throw the beginnings of the move you are faking for it to be sold to a good defender, so it becomes about modifying the first step so you can come out of the step at a different angle and location, than the move you are selling. If you are skilled at this and you can dribble a football, defenders will struggle to tackle you, even if they are good. I simple move will beat a poor defender, a simple fake will beat an average defender, and throwing intent will beat a good defender

Ronaldinho would’ve absolutely been one of the goats of the 20th century if only his training regime matched his partying regime but that’s Brazilians for you .😅
As it was his prime only lasted 3 to 4 years (at Barca) which is why he only won one Ballon d’Or which is the golden ball you saw him holding in the middle of the video ; that award goes to the best player of the year.
To put things into prospective Cristiano Ronaldo has won 5 ballon d’ors and Messi has 7 to date.
Ronaldinho was a Brazilian international player and won the World Cup with his country in 2002, and retired a few years ago, however he and Messi still do Pepsi ads together and are still close friends.

What the hell is Mayo doing behind your head man?
Ronaldinho is Brasilian and yes, he has won the WC and yes he was the MVP several times, yes he played when Messi was debuting, those golden balls trophies mean they were the Europe's MVP for that year. Tough prize to earn. He is retired, but the guy can do every trick in a wheelchair or using a walker. South American players are usually the best unless you are dutch of course, they are the best too. Number 10 in soccer is a quarter back, play makers.

Ronaldinho had talent to be the real Goat but he wasted his chances to be it. If he was determined and conssitent like Messi and CR7 would have been the best one. In an alternative reality he became it :)

I shake my head and laugh when people say "the game has evolved, modern football/soccer players are much better". As someone old enough to have seen legends both past and present play, I think modern players are garbage on comparison and would be embarrassed.

Football is a sport. Sports is entertainment. Ronaldinho is the last word for football's entertainment... No Messi No Cr7 comes near the entertainment and the skills he displayed on the field during his prime... Period.! Go cry to yor mama if u disagree...
