      I was just gonna say about the better strap and swappable batteries. I don't have the quest 3 yet but I know to get a better strap and battery. 2 hours suck! I mean, if cell phones can do longer days, why can't VR?

      As much as I love elite straps. They are bulky. And I take my quest with me everywhere. I wish there was an option in the middle

  • @BlackMarketHoney
    @BlackMarketHoney 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    I recommend an elite style battery strap with a padded top strap. The rear battery balances the front weight, and the top strap allows you to balance the whole lot on your head without tightening it down too much on your face.

    Thanks for this. I’m a web developer and team manager working from home and very close to trying this solution as a way to get multiple / flexible display setup which I can take with me for travel, so nice to see a good down to earth review

    I really appreciate this video, I've used the headset on my normal day to day, but it mainly fit the work I'm doing with, it nice to see a different field of work use the headset

  • @TheBenzKid
    @TheBenzKid 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I highly recommend not running the front silicone cover as it insulates the heat rather then using the exposed plastic as a heat sink. It let's the headset run about 3-9 degrees Celsius cooler.

    I own a Quest 3 headset and also have a BoboVR S3 head strap.. I am retired and only do VR gaming with it and only for 1 or 2 hours which is good enough for me.
    Maybe we will see studies out in the future on how good or bad wearing VR headsets are for long periods of time. With the lenses being 1-2 inches from our eyes, and besides having eye strain, be interested in how it effects the overall vision of the eyes. I know it can't be very good. It is like sitting in 1 foot or closer in front of a large LCD TV display all day. Time shall Tell how good long term using/viewing VR verses our eye health not to mention the isolated mental health of doing work all day in VR.
    Thanks for your video. Take care.

    very interesting video. i think you fit pretty snugly into what meta would imagine to be an ideal user of vr for at home work, so its nice to see your takes of the good and the bad.

    Comfort (a far better halo style strap like the BOBOVRM3) + 4 rechargeable batteries allows for all day wearability.
    A lot of devs/ typists are using immersed. There is also fluidXR, which basically runs computing tasks off your headset alone. Haven’t tried it.
    PCV games, if you try it, is next level gaming and but the real change is social gaming. Games like Eleven, Real VR Fishing are big winners in this. Far more than Horizons I think.
    For industrial use Archviz, auto, med industry is using it but for masses i’m guessing mixed reality shopping is coming.
    You did a good vid. As a PM you are the right person to test this.

    • @nerdywork
      @nerdywork  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I looked at the BOBOVRM3 strap. Yeah, that looks like it will help a lot. I may have to order one of those soon. I assume the extra weight of the battery is not a problem? Can the batteries keep the Quest 3 charged? I saw a lot of videos about Quest 3 taking so much power that some external batteries couldn't charge the headset as fast as is used the power.

    • @TheGameChallenger
      @TheGameChallenger 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nerdywork I have that strap. It's really comfortable. You can also buy the double charger port, meaning you put one powerbank on the device, and while that's going the other one is charging, when the one on the device runs out, you switch it with the full one on the charging dock, basically, limitless battery life, just have to keep switching them out every 2 hours or so. Highly recommend for this type of all-day activity.

    • @jeremytodd77
      @jeremytodd77 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nerdywork Essentially, the BoboVR uses a halo design which means it hangs off your forehead and alleviates the pressure you would normally feel on your face. The battery actually acts as a counterbalance to the front of the headset to further help pull the weight off the front. Highly highly recommended vs an elite type strap that still pulls the quest against your face. A new soft pad facial interface will also help but the best one I had on Q2 from Kiwi which has really soft padding and vents to help keep you cool, isn't available yet for Q3 and there are only cheap ones that aren't worth the money right now.

  • @DigThat32
    @DigThat32 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I just did a vid w/a section about Immersed & I had no idea about the virtual webcam. I'll have to check that out. Battery life is definitely short, but I think I got about an hour w/it..maybe a bit more, using a link cable. Apparently there's link cables that will let you connect a charger while also connected to your PC. Good vid.

    Good review, valid points that I think can be improved really good gradually.
    And about gaming loved your comments as I think you nailed it really fast, I played Boxing as well and yeah...it is intense and very very fun.
    The player can get abstracted in a different reality so nice, this is a vastly superior experience than playing box clicking a button, here you are TRULY boxing and dodging hits!! Adrenaline is in VR sooooooo good. Imagine HORROR gaming O_o !!

    I did this for only one day myself. I thought the digital monitors would be nice, but after a few hours, my spreadsheets were getting laggy and slow. It's definitely more efficient/faster to work in the real world for now. Maybe in a few years it can get better

    • @nerdywork
      @nerdywork  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree! maybe in a few years. Work from VR has so much potential. But the interesting thing about potential is that it mean you don't have that quality now.

    Hey man, you're real close to having the channel blow up. Music is great (people often over look it), cadence is engaging, and your voice is comforting. I would suggest some colour correction on your footage form your PC camera and also changing the camera angle to not be so far up. Also tighten up some of the cuts (as lovely as they were, your kids didn't really pertain to the title of the video at all, which will make people click away hurting your retention).
    If you don't care about that, then ignore me haha, thanks for the video!

    • @nerdywork
      @nerdywork  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you so much for the constructive criticism! The color correction and cuts are things I noticed as well. I actually switched to Davinci Resolve Studio to help fix those specific issues. Your compliments really made my day!

  • @kelownatechkid
    @kelownatechkid 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You daughter definitely has the TH-cam voice down, that's for sure haha!! Your video was quite good - as the other comments indicated a few little changes would really help the presentation but editing wise, I would suggest doing some jump cuts to keep the speed up, removing any pauses in cadence, etc. For fun use of the headset, I would recommend trying the 4xvr app if you have access to any 3D blu-rays, it's amazing since it can decode backups done with makemkv. I have tried doing work in it but the resolution is too low. I've been using a powered usb-c hub and a battery strap as needed for power.

    3:59 got the numbers a bit mixed there. there was around 21% of americans whove experienced VR in recent years, but that number is around 50-60 million and not 7 million

    Hey man, fellow quest 3 user here! Please remove the black external skin from your quest 3, the one that came with the comfort accessories. The outer black skin/case makes the quest 3 run hotter and almost overheat. Not worth it imo. The other comfort accessories are great tho!

    Working with the current format is just not practical. It's heavy and uncomfortable. Something closer to swimming goggles size someday would be workable. The weight and the way it's designed to press on your face on the Quest 3 isn't great if you have to use it for very long hours. Halo style headstraps like the BoboVR M3 helps, but we are not there yet. We are close though.
