It's not just my favorite by them, but it's also the song by them that I think Jay and Amber will like the most. I always try to keep their tastes in mind when I suggest a song to them.
In this song, Russell Hitchcock held the final note for 16.2 seconds, which was the longest ever note held for a male pop singer. Russell held that title until 1983, when Freddy Curci of Sheriff held the final note of "When I'm with You" for 19.4 seconds (another excellent song, btw). Air Supply was the soundtrack of every 80's school dance, and most weddings, too. Like Amber, I'm a sucker for a power ballad.
Little River Band is another aussie band you should check out. "Lady", "Cool Change", "Take It Easy On Me" are a few of their big hits from back in the late 70s/early 80s.
I was thinking the same thing, and that Air Supply also makes me want to hear Ambrosia from the same time period. (And I'd add the Little River Band's "Reminiscing" to your song list.)
The verse singer is Graham Russell and the chorus singer is Russell Hitchcock. You can't go wrong with anything they do. Russell Hitchcocks voice is amazing. I would recommend their song, "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All", which was written by Jim Steinman who wrote all of Meatloafs biggest hits.
The tall blonde is Graham Russell, he is English. The short with dark curly hair is Russell Hitchcock, and he is Australian, and he is the one with the big pipes. He can carry a tune forever. Perhaps that's why they named the band Air Supply. 🤔 My favorite songs from this group are "Now and Forever " and "Just As I Am". Hopefully, you can do a reaction to those two songs. By the way, you guys are awesome!
Oh man did they have a huge string of hits. Their greatest hits is full of buttery pop tracks. They were so huge that they actually became uncool like disco had. But eventually came full circle again and now they get some respect.
Great description Slim. Every song they put out was a hit. Such an impressive catalog in a short time. Making Love Out of Nothing At All would be my next recommendation for a reaction.
Air Supply was the group in the eighties that dudes couldn't admit to their friends that they liked. But when they were alone in their car and this tune came on, they were belting out the words along to the song. Including me ! Great tune.
My pops listened to it and he was a real man 6'4 240. I used to look at my friends and think damn getting whooped by your little dad's can't be that bad, I could take that
LOL yes, Air supply. Two guys on stage singing love songs to each other. This is the band The back in the Day you would never admit to your friends that you liked but when you're in the car by yourself you're turning up their songs and singing along with it.
Their song Making Love ( Out of Nothing At All ) was written by Jim Steinman - the same man that wrote Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler and the Bat of Hell albums by Meat Loaf.
What's weird about that for me was ,I was 18 and had a girlfriend at the time "Making Love" and "Total Eclipse" came out (1983),we both loved them, and I remember thinking at the time they were great songs but that they both were VERY similar.Hats off to Jim Steinman for his great songs, and Meat Loaf,Air Supply and Bonnie Tyler for recording them!
Air Supply topped the charts all through the 80s. They are still touring to this day. Saw them a few years ago. Still killing it. PLEASE DO THEIR SONG, SWEET DREAMS.
This kind of soft-rock OWNED the early 80s (but you knew that), and Air Supply was at the head of the line. ""Lost in Love", "Every Woman in the World", "The One That You Love", "Here I Am", "Sweet Dreams", "Even the Nights are Better", "Two Less Lonely People in the World", and "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" were all smash hits. The band was comprised of English-born singer-guitarist Graham Russell and Australian lead vocalist Russell HItchcock. They are still performing to this day.
Yes, you're so right about them still performing live! We saw them here in Vegas about 5 years ago and would go again! Every song they sing is a dream! 👍

These guys were the romantic boy band of my middle school early high school days❤️ Be still my beating Heart 💗 ahhhh! Try Out of Nothing All, In My Sweet Dream and Even the Nights are Better
They are a duo consisting of English guitarist Graham Russel and Australian singer Russell Hitchcock. If you are soft rock fans, this is the band to dive into.
Dang, I was thinking he played guitar 🎸 left handed because he was from the southern hemisphere (like the toilets flush counter clockwise). But wrong one 😂
The ex loved these guys. My favorite story is Russel Hitchcock falling off the stage and breaking his arm reaching for a rose brought down by some 14 year old girl. I'm all out stage, I'm falling onto you, I knew you were young so I tried not to tooooouch.

Man, I LOVE Air Supply!!! They took the power ballad & ran with it. 😌 I've always wondered why they cut out a few measures in the beginning of the video. It doesn't save much time, and cuts out some great strings. Ah well. This is my favorite song of theirs. This is DEFINITELY a rabbit hole you want to go down. "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All," "Every Woman In The World," "Here I Am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You)," "Sweet Dreams" and "Even The Nights Are Better" are essential!!! I guess I should include their only #1 hit in the USA, "The One That You Love." You will LOVE his voice at the end.
He had a world record for holding a note for the longest time 16 seconds, growing up they were one of my favorites but as a teenager in the 70’s in never admitted it 😂
Fun Funny fact: the Air Supply song "Two Less Lonely People" has often been used during hockey games when two players from the visiting team are in the penalty box at the same time!
Love Air Supply is a great Duo. I've heard them in concert they played at my college and where they played was close to my dorm I could hear the whole concert from my dorm room just had to open the window. Good memories. Every Woman in the world, Two less lonely people, Even the nights are better, Here I Am.

Air supply, REO Speedwagon, and Chicago have a whole lot of 80’s banger, power ballad, Amber sway music.

But there are so many more!
Thanks for giving them a listen!
I have this album ( yes, vinyl ) and I used to listen to it in my room in the barracks when I was a young airman serving in the US Air Force back in the early eighties. Man, it seems like a lifetime ago.
It makes me so happy that you both like them! I LOVED them. In fact, they still tour and I saw them perform in Stamford, CT, in November 2021. They still rock, big time, and the voices have remained in tact! You must try "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All." Classic track!
