“Making Love Out of Nothing At All” is my favorite Air Supply song. The guitarist is Graham Russell, and the lead singer is Russell Hitchcock. Graham Russell is from England, and Russell Hitchcock is from Australia.
y'all really need to hear the original studio version to appreciate the power of the vocals, SOARING backing vocals, and instrumentation. this is the only air supply song i can still listen to any time i hear it on the radio, no matter what - my favourite ❤
I agree 100%, listen to the studio version. Live performances are ok sometimes, but most of us are initially exposed to the studio versions and usually we get accustomed to the voice inflections, the backup singers and orchestrations, etc. Great review guys.
YES!!! By FAR my favorite Air Supply song, and I LOVE Air Supply!!! And the only swooningly romantic love song that has an extended football metaphor! 😊
That song was written by Jim Steinman, an incredible song writer.....had written so many great songs performed by Meat Loaf, Air Supply, Celine Dion to name just a few......
I was THAT teenage boy that admitted to liking Air Supply. Enjoyed them as a beginner musician. Plus, girls loved us for being able to talk about songs that they all loved.
Smart boy! As a teenage girl I dated a boy who liked them too -- or at least told ME he did 🤣🤣. But I truly think anyone who claimed to not like them were lying, lol! BTW, I liked Cheap Trick, Van Halen, AC/DC, Kiss, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, etc., etc. too! All of the music was awesome in the 70's - early 80's 😍!
Most of their albums are pretty good they have some good deep cuts too that weren't big hits, like "I Want To Give It All", "She Never Heard Me Call" or "Chances" sure to melt some hearts.
"Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" holds a memorable time for me. I was 8, and visiting my older sisters in Phoenix. It was the late summer of 1983. It was so epic and moving. This song, and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse Of The Heart", were playing on the radio. I believe they were both written by the same producer. "Return Of The Jedi", Michael Jackson and many major cultural events were happening in 1983. I can honestly say that I experienced and loved every minute of it.
Both of the songs you mentioned. along with almost ALL Meat Loaf songs were written by the late Jim Steinman. He passed just a few months before Meat Loaf.
Yes! I agree with you completely. There are so many things that I was grateful for being a teenager in the 80's and being able to have all the music, movies, books, clothes and makeup, music videos, and everything else in between as the background and soundtrack of my life back then.
@@kimberlyshareemulford4932 The 1980’s were a very memorable time. Even then, I knew we were living in a period where it was unique and we probably wouldn't see the likes again.
Nice reaction ! Making Love Out of Nothing at All, is a great song, written by Jim Steinman , the writer of Meatloaf. This really shows off his vocals.
Air Supply is fantastic! Saw them in the early 80’s & they didn’t disappoint. The one that I love, Every woman in the world, Here I am. They’re just amazing!
Saw them late 2016 and believe me they have not lost anything. The same tones you heard when you listened to their radio cuts in the 70's and 80's. They are just a joy to watch in concert. No big light show just them and their music. May sound boring but they are definitely not boring.

I have been watching your critiques for months and finally decided that I had to subscribe. Your honesty and heart-felt comments express such a depth of feeling and integrity that I find absolutely refreshing. Thank you
According to Graham Russell, he wrote this song in just 15 minutes. He told us: "'Lost In Love' is such a simple song. I think about the songs before I start to write them, and I think about where they're going to go. I'm very aware that when that inspiration comes, it comes very quickly: it's like a dart, and it doesn't last a long time, that real initial impulse. So when it comes I know that the thoughts are going to be scattered, and they're going to come really fast, and I need to get them down quickly, so I need to think about the song first when I know it's coming. When a song is coming I get a weird feeling, and then I kind of drift somewhere on my own to think about it. But when I actually play the piano or pick the guitar up, it'll come really quickly. But my songs, too, are very simple. I mean, I'm not into jazz, and I'm not into fusion or anything like that. My songs are really straight ahead, real simple chords, the simpler the better. So a song like 'Lost In Love' with four chords, there's only two parts to it. There's really no chorus. There's just a verse and a bridge. So something like that shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes to write, you know."
“Sweet Dreams” by Air Supply has been “the” song for me and my Sweetie of 37 years! I deployed 14 times on active duty and I’m on the road about 140 nights a year now. When I can send my Sweetie a good night message, it’s always “Sweet Dreams, my love”. Y’all need to check it out! Love the channel!

Oh man. Air Supply. This sends me back to harmonizing with Air Supply with my best friend in middle school, both of us learning piano since the 5th grade, sitting side by side on her rickety piano bench, singing our hearts out, plunking away on the clunky keys of her old upright piano, with nary a care in the world. All the woes of the world had not yet landed on our shoulders & all we needed was a good friend & good music. Thanks guys!

They have so many good songs but when I was in 6th grade my very first ever moonlight couples skate at Rollaire Skate Centre was to Air Supply's "Sweet Dreams". I had the 45 of The One That You Love and would sing along to it over and over. When I was 11 I could actually hit the notes.
This was all over the radio when I was growing up and learning about which musical direction resonated with me. I had been raised primarily on country, given my father played and sang it in the 'family band', but my mother liked rock/pop music, so when we were in the car without dad, that's what we listened to. I fell in love with this song during that era, and the feeling continues.
Yea, this was their title song off this album. Their next song was All out of Love. Graham Russell was the lead singer. They sold a few albums in their day. Like 100 MILLION.
This is one of my faves, but, REALLY, you gotta listen to the original recorded version. That’s the one we all heard back in the day, and sent us all drifting, as it played on the radio…. ❤
They were a staple in the 80's... PLEASE try Little River Band soon, especially Lady, Lonesome Loser, Cool Change or Reminiscing... Take It Easy On Me is another favorite...
My Mum and Dad got divorced in the early 80s. Being the youngest of five kids, my Mum shielded me from most of her pain....she would however play Air Supply albums over and over, so clearly she was going through it! It has both nostalgic and bittersweet vibes for me for that reason but I just love them.
I agree the studio album is much better. They either have been on tour awhile or are getting older They are underneath the note, still great just not quite as good.
This song charted on Billboard Hot 100 on February 9, 1980 and it peaked at number 3 for 4 weeks and it was there 1st chart single they had a total of 13 chart singles
The reason you might be confused with this in the last song that you reacted to is quite understanding because Air Supply had a lot of hits with the word "love" in the title. Lost in Love, All Out of Love, The One That You Love, Making Love out of Nothing at All, to name a few. For soft and smooth music they are the ones to listen to!
I know the Air Supply hit songs so well I can pretty much sing along with all of them. I had at least 3 second hand Air Supply albums when I was a kid and I listened to them repeatedly. High quality vocals, good arrangement, and solid romantic lyrics are what you can count on from practically every Air Supply song.
Back when I laid eyes on your first look at Air Supply....just knew you would love it. It is just your kind of band/music/vibe. And they sing a LOT about what you guys are all about: LOVE. Still good to watch your journey of discovery in broadening your musical horizons. We really do love you two. Feels like you guys are so real. What you see is what you get. I think that is the reason everything is just resonating with us that are in the Rob Squad Fam. This is what is sorely needed in our society today. Wishing for our country to start showing more love one to another. We were brought up that way in our generation. I came of age to music like this in the early 1980's. I know you guys have brought your little ones right. So many young folk miss out on the firm foundation of a good and Godly foundation, being taught common courtesy, manners and just goodness, mercy, and love for our fellow man. Thanks children for bringing us this little gem. Peace and love. Blessing you. Goodness and love. Peace and love, guys. Can't wait for your next. Loving you. Later.
In the first half of the 80s Air Supply was everywhere! I've always loved them! And to think this performance is live with group vocals, who are also playing instruments, backing by a full orchestra, and lead vocalist with certainly no Auto Tune and is stunning, AMAZING!! ... they are talented beyond belief and I miss their brand of music! Please do more from this group! ♥️♥️♥️
Their greatest hits was in soooo may boyfriends music collection back in the early 80's! So many memories of that time. Great date music back then! Next song, Making Love Out of Nothing at All.
Probably my favorite Air Supply song but prefer the studio version! Loved it since I was a kid, the harmonies!! Please check out Making Love Out of Nothing at All, Here I Am, Every Woman in the World, Even the Nights Are Better. Also, Paul Davis Cool Night, '65 Love Affair, Do Right, Sweet Life. Eddie Rabbitt, Drivin' My Life Away, Step By Step, Someone Could Lose A Heart Tonight, You and I, Warning Sign, and Little River Band "Lady" - keep smiling!! 😍😍😍
@@vaskylark oh I didn't forget, it's one of my favorite songs of all time but they already reacted to "I Go Crazy" earlier this year. I'm hoping they revisit him soon!! 😁🎶
This album came out at about the same time as the Sony Walkman. I remember saving up my $149.00 and buying this cassette the same day. I was floored by the sound coming through that little wired headset. Alas, my Walkman ate the tape.😂
So Air Supply are the Kings of Mellow. Their music was always so calming and soothing to me, yet Russell has one of those amazingly powerful voices. Other songs to do are "HERE I AM", "EVEN THE NIGHTS ARE BETTER", and "MAKING LOVE OUT OF NOTHING AT ALL."
The tall singer with the guitar is Graham Russell. The shorter singer is Russell Hitchcock. They both have beautiful voices...Graham's is the higher soft pitch, Russell's is the booming one. They're a duo who've had various other members as the backing band. They began in the 1970s and had their biggest hits in the early to mid 1980s. They still tour. I'd suggest listening to "Here I Am", "Every Woman in the World", "Now and Forever", "Two Less Lonely People in the World".
I've been listening to Air Supply since I was 6 years old, I'm now 44 years old, and it makes me happy to see young people checking them out. You do check out this song by them called "Sandy, and hard to forget her."
When I was 12 and 13 years old they became very big and I loved them. My Dad surprised me with concert tickets when I was 14 and told me they were 15th row and we walked right past that row to the third which was like 1st row in most venues. Close enough that we were able to reach out and touch their hands during the concert. My Daddy made me very happy, I'll never forget his big smile. Much better songs by them, Here I Am, The Power Of Love, Two Less Lonely People. I loved your reaction to All Out Of Love too. ❤️ The shorter man with dark, curly hair is the primary lead singer, Russell Hitchcock. The tall blonde on acoustic guitar who sings lead part of the time and sings harmony also writes a lot of their music, his name is Graham Russell. Both very talented.
They were prolific from the late 70's and into the early 90's. Beautiful song after beautiful song. Their songs just know how to capture the mood and either make you feel happy in love, or very sad in love!
OhhhMG! This takes me back to our seventh and eighth grade dances in our little grade school gym. Little Kansas town, I think my class was all of a dozen or so students. But so many good memories with these awesome 80's songs and pop culture in the background. Plus my mom used to like to do housework with the radio on loud and would sing along, or have it cranked up loud in the car. My grandmother babysat me a lot, and she was the same way. I love that I was able to have such a wonderful musical education that was very diverse. I think the first songs I remember my mom singing along with was "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green, "How 'bout us" and "Love is the answer", by Ace?? Grandma loved early and then newer county music, Elvis, and then I got her hooked on Prince, The Stray Cats, and Queen. She loved Freddie Mercury's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", it reminded her of Elvis. And the fact that you guys are discovering all of these amazing artists, and get to share them with your kids too, it's just really special. And your kids will always have these videos and can later on (way, way later on, but still...) share them with their own kids. I think it's really sweet. 🎵🎶😁
Back to my teen years! 😊. I’ve never seen this. Absolutely, love this version. ❤️ I saw them live about a couple years ago, but the thrill was gone. They didn’t sound the same , but they tried. 😬Their just older. No worries, they were great for their time.
Air Supply is my all time favorite band! Violins are the oxygen of vocal music. And I also appreciate that they took care with their attire. Dress up, show up and be present entertainers .
AM radio and those guys floating through the airwaves, late 70s, soft sunlight adding to the euphoria. I can feel the gentle warmth on my skin and mind.
My favorite of theirs. Listen to studio version uninterrupted. You'll hear Russell Hitchcock's voice go even higher in the studio version. It's super climactic.
I've seen Air Supply 3 times in the last 5 years. They still sound great, the backup band is amazing, and it's one of the best times you could ever have at a live concert, plus their tickets aren't hundreds of dollars. If you get a chance to see them, go!
Saw Air Supply on this tour in 94 in Santa Monica. It's one of my favorite live albums. The thing about it is the album does not do the live show justice. That's how great it was.
Please listen to the original studio version of this song. He sounds great here, but singers do tend to get weaker as they age. The notes he hits when he’s young are insane.
Yes Russell Hitchcock was definitely strained in this video. He’s not even that old here but when he was young it was totally effortless and his voice glided in the clouds.
Air Supply has long been one of my favorite acts of all time. The started the same year I was born, 1975, and co-leads Graham Russell (vocals and guitar) and Russell Hitchcock (the one that turns on the vocal powerhouse at the end of this one) have been singing together ever since with their newest album having been released in 2010. I actually got to see them in concert at River Spirit Casino in Tulsa in (I think) 2005. I just checked their forthcoming concert schedule and it appears that the closest they'll get to us (you being in Moore and me in Okmulgee) is Kansas City, MO, in May of next year (tickets go on sale tomorrow, October 31st). As for my recommendation this time, I of course have to recommend more Air Supply, and what better to suggest but my favorite song by them: "Two Less Lonely People in the World." Such a beautiful song! I am 100% certain you will both love it.
Making Love Out of Nothing at All is by far their best song, and it will be Amber's favorite as well, as it was written by Jim Steinman, the guy who wrote all the other theatrical Meat Loaf stuff she loves.
As alot of people have said "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" is pretty much my favorite, but everything off of The Definitive Collection album is amazing.
“Making Love Out of Nothing At All” is my favorite Air Supply song. The guitarist is Graham Russell, and the lead singer is Russell Hitchcock. Graham Russell is from England, and Russell Hitchcock is from Australia.

Being the youngest of five kids, my Mum shielded me from most of her pain....she would however play Air Supply albums over and over, so clearly she was going through it! It has both nostalgic and bittersweet vibes for me for that reason but I just love them.
One of our iconic Australian duos, Graham and Russell are beautiful singers. All out of love 1980, is my favourite
Russell has a POWER voice that goes right through you !! Gives me goose bumps!!! Always loved this song and the group.
This one would be worth listening to the studio version
He turned this one into a power ballad (with the intensity of his singing late in the song), is that how the recording is?
My thoughts, as well. 🥰
Agree much better to show the vocals and instrumentation. I really wanted them to listen to a studio version.
I agree the studio album is much better. They either have been on tour awhile or are getting older They are underneath the note, still great just not quite as good.
@@ckobo84 yes. That is the same formula of the song
Oh this is a group you need to hear a lot more of
This song charted on Billboard Hot 100 on February 9, 1980 and it peaked at number 3 for 4 weeks and it was there 1st chart single they had a total of 13 chart singles
My choir instructor LOVED them, and this is one of the songs of theirs we sang.
You wouldn't know it from this live version but this is a really great song.
AS was on fire in the late70's early 80's !!!!
Their greatest hits was in soooo may boyfriends music collection back in the early 80's! So many memories of that time. Great date music back then!
Next song, Making Love Out of Nothing at All.
One of the best songs ever written . And I remember listening to this when I was very young . One of my favorites .
The studio version is so good also!! Beautiful song! Air supply is great -whatever! ❤❤❤
"Here I am" and "The one that you Love" are my favorites!
You will remember this chorus too, Guys. Love hoe the singer kicks it up an octave at the end. Thanks.
Looks like you grew up in the same era I did we had such wonderful music to listen to
You said Paul Davis but you forgot one of his biggest hits, "I Go Crazy".
@@vaskylark oh I didn't forget, it's one of my favorite songs of all time but they already reacted to "I Go Crazy" earlier this year. I'm hoping they revisit him soon!! 😁🎶
Great suggestions 💙
@@mikekling hehe Good reason! :)
A nice live performance, but the studio version is even better. Great vocals. Soft rock at it's best.
This album came out at about the same time as the Sony Walkman. I remember saving up my $149.00 and buying this cassette the same day. I was floored by the sound coming through that little wired headset. Alas, my Walkman ate the tape.😂
I own their best of album, very easy listening and some beautiful lyrics to match. Very powerful Duo.
Air Supply is another great classic rock band.
I got to see them in concert many years ago in Kentucky. They have always been one of my favorite groups.
I never get tired of Air Supply. I've seen him several times in concert and they always put on a fantastic show.
This is my absolute favorite of this group. It takes me waaaaay back to my childhood! All the warm and fuzzies!!!!!
I saw them in concert in 2018, it was such a phenomenal show. I absolutely love their music
A staple of teenage dances in the early 80s... a lot of kids fell in love to these songs
I've been listening to Air Supply since I was 6 years old, I'm now 44 years old, and it makes me happy to see young people checking them out. You do check out this song by them called "Sandy, and hard to forget her."
I've been a fan of Air Supply since the early 80s, and this has always been my favorite song.
Makes me smile the hear Air Supply again, thanks for reminding me how much I like them.
Saw them in concert in a small venue and he walked around the audience while playing the guitar which was so cool.
This is one of my favorite song by them thanks for sharing your reaction
Air Supply is my all time favorite band! Violins are the oxygen of vocal music.
And I also appreciate that they took care with their attire. Dress up, show up and be present entertainers .
It really is such a pretty song.
It really is!❤
AM radio and those guys floating through the airwaves, late 70s, soft sunlight adding to the euphoria.
I can feel the gentle warmth on my skin and mind.
My favorite of theirs. Listen to studio version uninterrupted. You'll hear Russell Hitchcock's voice go even higher in the studio version. It's super climactic.
Air Supply loved up there song titles.. Great group.. Brings back memories.
I've seen Air Supply 3 times in the last 5 years. They still sound great, the backup band is amazing, and it's one of the best times you could ever have at a live concert, plus their tickets aren't hundreds of dollars. If you get a chance to see them, go!
This might be my fav Air Supply Song...definitely in the top three for sure.
One of my favorite groups when I was growing up. Their songs are absolutely incredible.
Saw Air Supply on this tour in 94 in Santa Monica. It's one of my favorite live albums. The thing about it is the album does not do the live show justice. That's how great it was.
I love the variety of music and performers you react to and I learn a lot from you
Please listen to the original studio version of this song. He sounds great here, but singers do tend to get weaker as they age. The notes he hits when he’s young are insane.
Agree, the studio version is stellar!
That’s what I was thinking…original 80s non live is better.
Yes Russell Hitchcock was definitely strained in this video. He’s not even that old here but when he was young it was totally effortless and his voice glided in the clouds.
So many great songs by Air Supply. Making Love Out of Nothing At All, Every woman in the World, Just as I am and Even the Nights are Better
Wow! Russell Hitchcock has such a high voice and then he jumps up an entire octave at the end. Incredible! Thanks for this one! Peace 🕊️
One of their biggest songs was 'Maying Love Out of Nothing At All', which was originally written for the great Meat Loaf.
These guys are the Kings of ballads! Love them!
"Making Love Out of Nothing At All" is Air Supply's BEST of all their songs! You NEED to react to it. Looking forward to when you do!
