Great to see the modwave is still getting the love. A fine synth I spent many months exploring.

Nice video. The Modwave is such a powerful and versatile synth. I have created 1000+ patches for it, it can do wavetable, analog modeling, sample playback and lots more.

Great demo! Both in form (cameras positions, edit etc) and content. AND - VERY IMPORTANT talking/music balance

I've seen so many videos on this because I really want to get it, this demonstration is the best one. Can't wait to get my hands on one.

Never thought i would see another 19"rackunit in this toy size day & age.

Thanks for the usual great demo, Luke.
Without a doubt, it sounds great, which is why I bought one. Sadly, I had to return it within a month as it kept freezing frequently whenever I'd try to save my own presets, including modified ones. AFAIK, it's not a common issue.
As much as i enjoy the sound on this range, i always think there's things that could be done to really make the sound engines shine.
For example, the display is small for an instrument of this complexity. This can be applied for each of the other raspberry pi based synths in this range. You're effectively pushed towards using the software editor, which IMHO negates the portability aspect of the design. A larger screen, maybe in colour (a la the micro korg 2), would be much nicer & definitely easier on the eyes.
The keyboard is less premium than it could be and doesn't inspire playing anything other than the basic triggering of sequences & block chords within a few octaves. A larger keyboard (e.g. 49 or 61 keys), a la the wavestate & opsix SE's would really open up the playability factor.
On this synth, there's a single pair of stereo outs on a bitimbral sound engine. More outputs would let the power of it truly shine.
Support for expression pedals ( there's currently damper switch only), would allow more flexibility in expression.
All the aforementioned would potentially require an uptick in production costs.
Inherently, Korg are utilising an economies of scale scenario with this product line, in order to deliver the best bang for the buck. That's why the casing , keys, and display are all of the same / very similar size; parts rationalisation goes a long way in keeping production costs down.
Nonetheless, here's hoping that Korg make a new workstation or supersynth that integrates all of these smaller footprint synths, with an ability to buy/ lease (a la roland cloud) any synths in the ecosystem as and when you can / want.

Its time to give up drinking when your synthesizer starts to talk to you

This is the only new Korg synth I really want. I’d love to mess with the DW-8000 waveforms

What were you doing in the eighties Luke?

Very nice Korg :-) but I’m holding out for a Volca M1 (hint) ❤
