To be fair that channel has made me buy my fair share of gear lol. He is very good at demonstrating that the biggest problem with any piece of gear is not knowing what to do with it. That said this synth is $1200 CAD .😅
Owned a Minilogue XD and didn't like the limited envelope so sold it to get a Wavestate but don't like the fact it doesn't have real oscillators. This is actually what I've wanted all along...
I've been thinking about purchasing that Behringer replica - but seeing this one, makes me want to buy this one instead. You really upgraded it in a very nice way, and hey 60 voices 🤩
All I hoped for was a 4 layer modwave (My favourite synth in a collection of 20+ vintage, analog, and hiend digital) - and now it's here!! BUT YOU LEFT OUT THE SAMPLES?!? The combination of VA, wavetable and sampler is what really makes the modwave stand out Hope you put it in the multi/poly mkII (coming out in 11 months or something?).
I love the korg digital engines of the wavestate and the modwave as vsts but not as hardware. I certainly look forward to trying this as a VST. Although it seems like a lot of overlap with a mod wave native which handles analog fairly well on its own.
All the negative vst comments then someone like me who actually doesn’t want to sit beyond a computer or pack a laptop setup everywhere and this a dream man love it
@@BeepsAndBeats well unless they make an easier way to put any vst you want on a physical synth to use as a tangible interface that isn’t just a midi controller daw setup then it kinda is what it is
People who moan “oh another a VST in a box” sound like absolute muppets. They must be the same kind of people who respond “you must be fun at parties”, like they’re incapable of producing an original thought. They just repeat other people’s ideas word for word. 😂
@@notsure1135 Describing the physical keyboard as merely a “box” is clearly a very reductive statement. The machine is more than the sum of its parts. I suppose musicians who perform live are more likely to understand and appreciate the value and benefits of a self-contained, ready-to-use instrument. BTW I won’t be buying this one, but for other reasons.
I understand the absence of aftertouch to keep the price down, but not including an expression pedal input seems like a major oversight. This thing begs to be played with a quality MIDI controller. Release this with a 4-octave keyboard and an expression pedal input, and you have a Nord Lead killer. Failing that, a 5-octave “multi/poly SE” with poly AT (Keystage keybed wink wink) and more pedal inputs (at least 3, including damper) would be an amazing instrument.
I think it is amazing. Love what you did with the modulation capabilities, and especially those modifier operators. Also I absolutely love the multi-timbrality, the filter configurations, the fact there is an external editor and you can upload your own wavetables. I think it is very fresh and it looks great too. Well done. The only thing is missing the aftertouch. It's the same complaint I have with my GAIA 2. PS. While I am here, if I could make a request. I would love something like a Triton / M1/O1 in this form factor, plus some modern twists with the mod matrix and filter architecture you have here. The ultimate rompler for the future!! I am certain it would sell like hotcakes! Don't forget the aftertouch! :-) Great job Korg!! ❤
I see ideas. I see a complex structure that produces rich sounds. With analog taste and digital crispiness. Interesting. With a 61 keys unit and poly aftertouch, it would be a killer machine. Waiting for that, because I play live and 3 octaves for me are useless. Hydrasynth deluxe should teach something to synth manufacturers...
Will you guys update the other synths to have these extra filter types 🙏 please I know you can do it. But u won’t 😢 I don’t want another synth. I just want continued updates for the ones I already have. I’d pay for the ability to customize/ pick & choose different elements- effects/ filters/ patches- speaking of- korg needs more than just a few packs. How about a mutisample pack for the modwave? How about some of these sweet new filters for the opsix?🥺 🙏🙏🙏
At least they have upped the build quality. Had both the Wavestate and Opsix and loved them. Pity they haven't improved the screen size as deffo needs a touchscreen instead of all the buttons.
Does the USB connection actually work on Windows or does it have the same issue it always had with Korg gear? It's always been so frustrating trying to hook up my minilogue to a windows computer ...Asking before buying
@@OlegAryutkin It doesn't.. It's a thing. You need to uninstall other USB devices for it to recognize it first. I have to use the 'uninstall korg midi driver' app every time.
Luke, another awesome Korg is another awesome video, thank you. I wanted to ask if you can manipulate the presets without messing up the original settings. I’ve done this on my Nautilus by turning the knobs And not making a user category. It always seemed to stay the same before and reset when I turn it back on the next time I play. and one day I turned it back on and the Combinations of some of the programs that I tweaked around with were messed up. The book says you can tweak them knobs and return them to the center position, and turn it off without saving anything and they will be the factory reset again? That’s the reason I’m asking because I’m looking at This New one you’re playing and I want it. But, I need a clear definition of how the global mode and or how this one works so I do not mess up the original factory settings. I don’t know if Korgs Global modes exist on all the synths or just the workstations? Thanks so much for the demo and the awesome Sounding synthesizer!
Always a good day when you see Luke ! Pretty much sold on this, A very cool new approach to the old school area. Almost perfect but meh! to MS-20 model's like the idea is there in the sound i guess but the real characteristics of the high pass squelch is just kind of ruined. I will say as a Canadian consumer 1249$ is a bit much though so i'll wait for a sale or used. Cause at that price a TEO-5 is literally cheaper. Thanks for a the awesome demo though Luke, Appreciate you my friend.
Why is Korg bypassing their true heritage of the all-analog mono/poly namesake, with an all-digital multi-poly? The sound is noticeably thinner than analog (although functions are feature-laden) - at the very least, why put digital filters instead of the real analog filters from the mono / poly? Going the Roland route of "all digital" for all of your past 7 synths is a disappointing direction, considering your respected analog heritage.
Does it have proper note sequencing? Because pitch sequencing is definitely not the same. A change in pitch doesn't necessarily mean a re-trigger of the envelopes. Also I heard on the modwave you can't really sequence the filter self-oscillation, again because the pitch sequence doesn't trigger the notes, it only changes the pitch.
i got the korg polysix back in 1985 and it was my very first synth after getting a casio pt-20 still KORG lover till this day and i am over 50 now §❤❤❤❤❤❤ but i dislike those mini synths...... please make it proper, big!
So when are all of korgs innovations going to combine into the oasys actual successor, for the ultimate workstation keyboard, instead of cheapening the oasys for 3 generations?
"virtual voice card technology" = raspberry pi 3? It's beyond hilarious that you can buy a mono/poly clone from behringer, And Korg brings us this vst in a box...Nah
Ah, the same old boring comment saying its a vst in a box. Come on, that’s so yesteryear’s. Sitting behind a computer is very different interaction than when using an actual instrument. Stop the wining and start make some music instead.
I do agree that korg should have named this something else. Companies using Legacy names to sell new product that is not in relation to the original is a bad move in my opinion. It's kind of like Ford using Mustang Mach e to sell an electric SUV Like vehicle. No and loves Car because It's not a Mustang. But if they had called it something else I believe it would have been more successful. I met personally consider buying this because I do not have a mod wave. If i did not sure if i be as interested. No they are not the same product but it is the old give-and-take to try to entice people to buy both

The Wavestate ruined my first synth experience a few years ago. Should have just started with Serum.
The wave state seems way too complicated to be a first synth
