    This is my favorite Cradle song lyrically because of how wild and awesome the demon summoning part is. Amazing and thank you for this!

    Impressive analysis! You are doing a great job. This and Beneath The Howling Stars, you got the notion right on the spot. Cruelty is a magnificent concept album by Cradle same as Godspeed Of The Devil's Thunder (based on Joan D'Arc) and Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa (Based on The Demon Lilith).

      Thank you! I'm glad it shows, in spite of the somewhat scholarly style of my analyses. While I love music in general (and I analyse different rock/metal subgenres), Cruelty is my favourite album and CoF is my favourite band so I couldn't hide my enthusiasm even of I tried ^^

      @@citric1 Thank you so much! It's hard to choose - in many ways I prefer the re-mistressed version, but the original will always hold a special place in my heart because of nostalgia. How about you?

    Great analysis, and I love your spontaneous reactions when reading the lyrics before commenting haha it can't be helped because Dani Filth is so creative with his words, it's amazing. I'll be looking forward to Bathory Aria, that song is a fucking masterpiece! Have you watched their live performance of it? Also, it's worth mentioning that Ingrid Pitt herself recorded Elizabeth's voice in both songs, she was the actress who played Elizabeth in the 1971 film Countess Dracula.

    • @dr.metalhead5452
      @dr.metalhead5452  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's right, I will mention that - especially since Bathory Aria features Elizabeth's long and absolutely BRILLIANT soliloquy! Yes, I've recently watched the Infernal Vernal Equinox one too. It's an immersive and structurally complex song, which makes for an impressive live performance. Thank you very much!

      @@dr.metalhead5452 she played both Carmilla and Elizabeth Bathory, so I can imagine Dani fanboying over her in the studio haha
      I love how Bathory Aria really is structured like a classical piece would be, you can see how much work was put into it

    Only discovered this channel tonight and I'm hooked! Cannot wait for the next video, now I've a ton of reading to catch up on since I didn't realise how deep the lyrics of these songs really are, I've a whole new added appreciation for Dani's wordcraft and storytelling, as well as for your breakdown of the lyrics. Damn, it's 04:55, I've been up all night lol.

    Amazing analysis! I loved your breakdown of the rituals and how witchcraft was tied to feminine taboos like the menstrual cycle. Indeed, we can really see why witchcraft was traditionally tied to women (and that reminds me once again of how your character, Eyolf, goes against that by subverting gender norms).
    I wonder how Elizabeth will face her fate, since she is now doubly cursed. She deserves it for all the horrible things she’s done, yet, as you said, we can feel for her due to how fleshed out she is.
    Also, these songs about Elizabeth are BEGGING to be illustrated. The setting, the themes, the occult rituals, witches, and demons…they would all make for amazing illustrations.

    • @dr.metalhead5452
      @dr.metalhead5452  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the fantastic comment! I'm sorry for the late reply. I'm glad you enjoyed my analysis! Indeed, I've always found this aspect about witchcraft fascinating and I like how Cradle of Filth illustrates it in their lyrics. I'm pretty sure a certain category of young people these days would find their songs offensive, but in my view Cruelty (and Cradle of Filth's songs in general) is the most feminist musical act I've ever heard :D
      OH YES, you're right! Gosh, I should try my hand at illustrating this... (in a more historically accurate approach than COF's album covers XD)
