Best way to train dps to stand where they are supposed to, is to have them play a healer. They learn quickly then.

Very well said. I think it also comes down to stages and “where healers are at.” New healers should just be learning mechs and keeping the group alive and group buffs, get use to making callouts (ice tombs, block, etc.) mid level start bringing in enemy debuffs, track your back bar skills, learn when it’s appropriate to proc things like major slayer and off balance, advanced and coordinated groups bring all the above to the table and start to add to the over all dps through dots and other damage skills- most of the time at this level your not really preventing death (outside of heal checks) but mitigating incoming damage.

    "Resurrecting is a pain"
Friend, if you're a healer (or tank), you shouldn't be getting a res. Unless it's a DPS check, a DPS can stop what they are doing at any time and it won't compromise the group. DPS should always get the res. The lower stakes content, anyone who doesn't have agro should get the res (this is especially true in normal dungeons)
Keep in mind, if you're in a PUG then a lot of people won't know group etiquette. It's okay to type gentle guidance in chat, like "DPS get res if you don't have agro" or even just "get res." Also, if you're in trials tell the DPS where to stand. "The heals will be here" or "please stay stacked." If you're a DPS, get the res immediately. It's on you because you're in the middle of the group so you're the population who is always closest to the dead body and who can drop what they're doing without risking others
As for it being thankless, I'm not sure that's the phrasing I'd use. Nobody gets thanked, healers just don't get recognition. When a tank is good, you see it. When a DPS is good, you see it. When a healer is good, it's invisible. Their buffs/debuffs look like quality DPS and the DPS not dying looks like good tanking

Early game healing comes down to makeing sure noone dies
Midgame healing requires you to do the former along with buffing and debuffing
Endgame healing requires you to bring some damage as well to push group dps while still managing the first two. By that point tho youre less a healer and more a support.

I main healing. It's my favorite thing to do. Healing in eso is very hard but rewarding when you do get thanked. But it's not often we get thanked. I always say "stand in stupid, I stop healing you!" Or even when everyone is scattered in the dungeon, I refuse to chase my group around when the spilt like headless chickens xD

Healers and tanks (support characters), on top of their usual duties, buff the group and debuff the enemies. While it's possible to do some of both, in general tanks debuff enemies (since they stay close to them) and healers buff the group (since they stay close to them). It also makes thematic sense - the tank is up close wrecking enemy armour and the healer is blasting out all resources, not just health.

If your Play a nightblade you have healthy offering, single target heal you just point in a general direction to land. The only down side is that it prioritizes you when you are at low hp.
Anyway I allow myself to que (normal dungeons) as a healer with my PVP gear because I give 30k+ krit heals just like that.
I heal myself with vigor and if the group is good I just turn to damage instead. I always look out for the occasional heal needed but if you pump anyone from 0-100 in one second it's easy

I usually run a pug 4 man dk dungeon healer most days. Olorime and dark convergance. It's working pretty good so far. I buff the group enough and help pull when fake tanks join for randoms.

Man he's not wrong. Ive been playing Sorc healer for 8 years and its the most fun mechanically of any support in a game while also having to deal with the most hurdles to clear. I do a lot of dungeons because I don't have time for trials and I have to run and spin around to make up for bad players because letting them die means I'm stuck with them even longer. and like he mentioned in the post, targeting really sucks compared to other games. Lastly ZOS is terrible at balancing off meta builds while simultaneously saying you can play how you want.

That’s just supports as a whole most of the time until trials or veteran content and is just tied to the ease of general gameplay.
Big problem when newer players get into veteran content and the massive jump in damage needed, mechanics knowledge etc, and they’ve never seen it before 🤷🏻‍♂️ not their fault either

Trying very hard to level resto staff. All my guilds and wardenskills are done but my resto staff is so low! Wish me luck! I want to be a good healer after being a good dps for so long.

As a healer main, I stopped pugging as DPS is just so bad. So many times I would have to swap to a deeps just to finish the job in a reasonable time. Deeps is king in ESO.

Healing is always thankless, but it's probably one of the easiest roles to play in the game simply because you're just maintaining buffs and debuffs if people are playing well. no worries about rotations and buff uptime like some DPS

    • @Cooperharley0204

It's definitely much easier than other MMO healing on average for SURE - it's also what I recommend for a lot of people that want to get into endgame; easiest way to get into those groups I feel like is as a healer initially.

@@Cooperharley0204 Not to mention that Templar Healer is the most braindead button-mashing healer to ever exist in videogame history. Even Sona from LoL back in the day was harder than this. Perhaps you could play Templar Healer only using the Guitar Hero's guitar controller.

@@polvocorrupto Yeah but in trials all healers use prty much same buff skills you use like 1-2 templar abilities at most, thats why warden and arcanist outperform templar now because more buff value and necro has rez and does his own thing, might be easy role in a way but its so boring role and poorly designed in this game .

    • @polvocorrupto
      @polvocorrupto 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@jale8455 Always thought negatively about templar since warden came out. Templar Healer is just healer for its generic looks but offers almost nothing special other than what the Healing Staff alone already does. Many people misunderstand the templar as "The Healer Class" when most of the time Healplar is just a burst and over time heal spammer and almost nothing more, and the only pro I see is restoring some resources to the group (which healing Orbs and Symphony of Blades already do that job). Thanks for enlightening me on that even further.

    • @jale8455

@@polvocorrupto I mean if healers only job was to keep people up I feel like templar would be on the top for shure simply because burst heals that it offers . Also it's good resource battery but with most people playing arcanist with coral riptide and arcanist itself having great sustain + if you factor in the synergies + monster sets not like it's needed in current meta.

I prefer to play healer when farming as the queue isn't as long as dps and it's not as frustrating as playing with pugs on a tank. I do a sad sigh whenever a HA-Sorc queues in though as 99% of the time you have to keep telling them to stop running around the other side of the world as you cannot heal them, that and they're usually kiting away a couple npc's away from the cleave damage.

I mained healer in wow for years, so of course i was quickly drawn to it in eso.
Please tell me it gets more fun! I have several healers of different classes with 45 being my highest level and they're all so boring in dungeons. NOBODY NEEDS TO BE HEALED, lol, its insanely boring.
Overworld questing is also extremely boring because im built for healing and things take 10x longer to defeat.
This past week I've basically stopped playing because of this unfortunately. I even unsubscribed from eso+

people do need to be healed but skilled players dont actively try to die just do harder content

    • @Cooperharley0204
      @Cooperharley0204  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It’s something that comes with harder content. Because ESO appeals to a very casual player base, the healing that you’ll be seeking is going to be in veteran content and hard mode content. Tanking is the same way - rough in overland speed wise, pointless in normal dungeons a lot of times, etc

      1. Get an inn room (or log in for three days this month and get the notable house for free) then go into decoration mode and go to the purchase tab, go to services and get the free armory station. That will let you save two different builds, so you can save your healer and respect to DPS also, that should help with overland content.
      2. If your running normal dungeons ppl won't usually need healing... That changes when you get access to veteran dungeons and trials. My advice is to run normal dungeons on your healer and act like they actually need you, that will help you practice your rotations and build muscle memory for when you start higher lv content.
      3. Don't be afraid to experiment... They have a few healing options that use stamina, your job is also to buff your group and debuff the enemy, you can also build damage into your rotation. My Templar has a couple of HOTS, a stamina heal, a DOT that also gives back resources, a DOT that makes the enemy take more damage, a debuff that reduces their resistances and a Burst heal plus a whole lot more lol.
      4. Gear is important to.. there are a lot of sets out there, they have some great healing sets that will buff your group even more! Most guides online will list a couple of different sets that you can farm!
Hope this helps, and I hope you keep playing! If you okay on PS NA server I could definitely help point you in the right direction and help you out if you need it! Good luck 🙂

The redditor complains about healing being hard due to being hard to target when he didn't even play other roles and Healer is by far the easiest role in the game.
This why I even browse 4chan's /vg/ board rather than ever stepping on Reddit, they always bring in the worst takes ever, and when it comes to item set discussions they always kill on purpose any discussion of a set that ain't BIS.
