  • The Pit Online Dojo... Building up your punching power can mean the difference between winning a UFC title,Or coming up short, Or even more importantly, having knockout punch in power could mean the difference between life or death in the street, you have never heard Joe Rogan say"that guy hits too hard" starting up a hunting power now it is one of the variables that you can improve upon in martial arts.

    Love your material sir!! Im a huge fan of the Tight Defense system. When u hit the heavy bag you want to do a drill Cus DAmato called a Penetration drill. Swing the bag and as it comes back thats when u land your power shots. Thats how you deliver massive power and combinations. Love your material sir.

    Thanks, really appreciate this. I was actually doing the technique unknowingly on the heavy bag and generated a tonne of power and people were looking at the gym cause it made such a loud noise, basically swinging your hips, letting your arms be loose and clenching your fist real tight, very much like throwing a ball and chain as hard as you can, the power is generated by the body (hips, abs and legs). I will try the medicine ball and sledge hammer. Cheers

    • @Damonkeyspanda
      @Damonkeyspanda 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ZxVertige76 hey man, I'd like to answer this for myself, real quick. I don't know much of anything but I've learned that fear is a matter for the unknown. You take away the unknown and the fear goes away and calmness enters. The unknown there (for bully's and thugs) is what they're going to do or what you can't overcome. First: Train, train, and train some more and realize that you don't have to fight or confront those people=avoidance. Second: Train until you KNOW what you're capable of and make an agreement with yourself that if you're confronted and feel threatened, the second it happens, do hard quick damage and then split. No thinking, no hesitating, just knowledge and confidence in your own ability because of the PROPER training. Just my busted ass two cents worth.

      I'm not sure how helpful this expression is tbh. I'm not sure the martial arts concept of punching power really translates well into the equations of classical mechanics, but a punch does not have 'force'. you can think of a punch as a projectile with a given mass and velocity and so a certain momentum (mv), the force is what is applied by my muscles to accelerate the projectile, and then applied by his face to stop it. But seeing as during a punch my hand is moving faster than my hip or shoulder, exactly how do I measure that velocity, and how do I determine the weight behind it. I'm not sure a classical analysis of punching power is going to be as helpful as one based on bio-mechanics. So be wary when you say shit like this because it really isn't very illuminating compared to 'snap your punches don't push your punches' or any other practical technical advice.

    why not throwing the ball high up with one arm, since you punch with just one arm at the time? Or would that be less time efficient and not a lot better for the power system by being more specific to boxing?

    • @ThePitOnlineDojo
      @ThePitOnlineDojo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the size of the ball, And the specific exercise. When you do push-ups her bench press you're creating equal power on both sides, And the same holds true for the medicine ball

      @@ThePitOnlineDojo I see what you mean, but my thought is that the power production needs to be more than the arms, since you also twist your torso when punching. but maybe the time efficiency is better when training both sides in one movement while not being as similar to the punch.

      That can help youOf keep your hands up, it does work the cardio a little more, and is good for your grip and your shoulders..... It does nothing for punching power however. But it is a good workout overall.

      If you have resistance bands instead of weights that could help with punching power. Since it will be pulling you muscles back from your punch and muscling through. Although normal weights shouldn't do a lot.

    Not punching through? But it is exactly the opposite what many other great punchers say. Is the method different in any way?

    the strength vs power thing was good it is also why I don't like people using a sledgehammer to build hitting power. it will build strength and endurance but very few people can accelerate the sledge fast enough to actually make it about explosive power.
    Ernie Shavers had so much power he could use a sledge, he didn't have so much power BECAUSE he used a sledge. Chopping wood or even beating on the tire with a sturdy baseball bat would probabaly build more explosiveness. despite that disagreement philospohicly tho I'd love the chance to work with Hacklmen

    The reason people complain about this type of training is because everyone who has boxed for the last 20 years knows about this stuff, and in the meantime, training has evolved. When you look at a channel like Phil Daru's or many others, you actually learn about stuff that more efficiently transfers to combat motions. This is the first time I've ever watched a youtube vid on proper punching technique/power development and learned absolutely nothing from it.
