- The Pit Online Dojo... Building up your punching power can mean the difference between winning a UFC title,Or coming up short, Or even more importantly, having knockout punch in power could mean the difference between life or death in the street, you have never heard Joe Rogan say"that guy hits too hard" starting up a hunting power now it is one of the variables that you can improve upon in martial arts.

"When you're a knockout puncher your life becomes easier" 😂
Yep, it's like being good looking if you're a waitress more tips.
What if I knock them out and get arrested
@@JiaruiChen_ You can't get arrested if no cops are around and there are no cameras.
@Lxnkzi 🤣
Yes. This is The Ultimate Truth.
This dude looks like the producer for alvin and the chipmunks.
???
😂 That's spot on bro. But Hacklman would bury that poor dude. Lol
Actor/comedian David Cross.
Yeah, he would die.
That's scarily accurate.
The Process This is actually the funniest comment I’ve ever read🤣🤣😂😂😂
Everybody knows he trained chuck Liddell in his glory days right? Nobody had a reign of terror like him up to that point
Thank you for the support
That's the first thing I said, like woah! That's John Hackleman!
You guys are pulling my leg. That is Chuck Liddell, in glasses👓
Nothing but respect for this legend.
Thank you very much
Chuck Liddell walked into the PIT and Challenged this man, after they sparred and then Chuck became his student, as told to me by an actual UFC fighter....
I kid you not I saw this video I bought the bag and the gloves and I'm studying all the videos so now I'm going to be pitmaster Jr .lol
R u pitmaster jr now?
Thank you
Mr.Hackleman for making this video. It's highly appreciated 😀.
Thanks for the video. Appreciate all you done throught the years
Great video PiT Master ! All the way from Vancouver Island , thanks for taking the time to help us all out ! Appreciate it ....👍
This is a legit way to build up power. I tried these exercises and incorporated into my workout schedule. In my recent Amateur Kickboxing bout I KOed my opponent and he was not a wimp, he was known for having a good chin.
Thanks 🙏🏻 a lot Pit Master. Osss!!
Thank you very much for the support, that's why I do this.
awesome video, another exercise that helped my punching power is dumbbell push press! can't wait to try the sledgehammer exercise thanks for the advice
Love your material sir!! Im a huge fan of the Tight Defense system. When u hit the heavy bag you want to do a drill Cus DAmato called a Penetration drill. Swing the bag and as it comes back thats when u land your power shots. Thats how you deliver massive power and combinations. Love your material sir.
Man that sounds good thanks for sharing!
Good stuff coach Hackleman! Respect!
Thank you for your support
Thanks, really appreciate this. I was actually doing the technique unknowingly on the heavy bag and generated a tonne of power and people were looking at the gym cause it made such a loud noise, basically swinging your hips, letting your arms be loose and clenching your fist real tight, very much like throwing a ball and chain as hard as you can, the power is generated by the body (hips, abs and legs). I will try the medicine ball and sledge hammer. Cheers
That is funny, Thank you for the support and the input
I found I like using a wall slam ball (20lbs), I lay on my back and throw it up as explosive as I can. I do this for 100 reps every day at the end of my bag drill routine. I’ve also found it has helped build my shoulders up! Great video! You are full of Greta knowledge!
Very helpful tips and ideas! Thanks so much!
Thanks for your support, I will keep them coming if you keep watching.
Wooooooo! Just subscribed. This is great! Breeeeeathe!
welcome
THE PIT Online Dojo thank you
They you for the tips. THANK YOU FOR POSTING.
thank you
These are actually good tips for the beginner. Nice educational video.
Great tips John.
Thank you
This man understands power generation. Unbelievably valuable video.
Its all coming back to me now. A girl I knew watched this video last year and next thing I know I woke up married to her........
As always, great content. 💪
Thank you for the support
thank you for this tutorial
After a year and 13 days, TH-cam recommends me this!😣.
Thank you sir for sharing these awesome tips. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you very much for your support
Thank you for the tips Sensei. Osss
Love the sledge. I use a 20 maul into a tree stump that way I have to pull it out as well lol.
When I saw an TH-cam video about chuck and his career i became a fan of him and his coach ❤❤❤❤
Love John
Awesome!!!
Thanks John
thank you
Chuck The Iceman Liddell's former trainer has youtube tutorials? I'm gonna hit that subscribe button so hard and fast that my phone screen is gonna look like Tito Ortiz's face after Chuck threw him that wicked combo!
Love the oldschool looking gloves
Im gonna have to dust off my Pit Workout DVD
good sound on the bag!
I like him cos of how he trains to kick ass, but he's always thinking of his fighters
From the master, I can see how you trained Liddell to be world champ. Love what you are showing here!
Thank you for the support
Good tips I'm going to try it out at the gym tomorrow it just started dang you hit hard
thanks
luv the tractor tire & sledgehammer..do a lot of grip strength training..it all adds up to much harder striking..best wishes John.
Was dope dude. Thx
Thanks for the support
This guy is the real deal great videos
Thank you for the kind words
And thanks for the video also!
Thank you.
Do you recommend shadow boxing drills with wrist weights on? I’ve found it really helped my stamina when I do it in a pool but I wasn’t sure if it’s a bad idea for the rotator cuffs when out of the pool?
I like this guy, first time I see this channel I'm asuscriber now
chuck liddell's coach
thanks... welcome
Nice ones i Will take some of them in mine wokout
These punches really work, my wife will vouch for that.
@holdupcomments
That seems a lots of power for a 50+ guy...👊👊
I’m 180lbs therefore what weight would you recommend I get for a medicine ball then? Thanks, good video!
I just discovered my old medicine ball downstairs in my basement. It’s a ringside 25lbs medicine ball. I’ll start with that for now. Yet how much weight would you suggest that I increase to?
great info
Thank you
Good video if you check all the old time power punchers ( Dempsey, Louis ect) they all either chopped or spilt logs with an axe and did the same workout like John's it must work..
Turn the hand over on impact is the main thing it protects the elbow and shoulder.
Nice Tips. Keep it up sir
Thank you very much, anything in particular you'd like me to cover?
What's up with all the hate in this comment section?
Every keyboard fighter is an expert....
Batfleck Forever I think when the Mcgregor/Mayweather thing was going on boxing fans just trolled the shit out of MMA guys. I respect both Floyd and Conor and both sports but this is more real life shit. Boxing is a sport and this is surviv@survival.
Subbed
Me tryna hit a fly 4:01
thankyou Sir good exercises for developing punching power.
but some people only give negative comments because they thereself cant do nothing and they always search to give negative comments.
thanks
Okay so it's time to do a whole video on bag work let's see it happen pitmaster pretty please
How long would you recommend slammin that sledge boss
Power = Strength + Speed
Per physics: Power- ability of strength(force) to do the work at speed
Just found this video. Great information! How many times a week should this workout be done for optimal results?
Just added to your regular workouts once a week.... If you're feeling the mood Go up to twice a week,That should be the limit.
THE PIT Online Dojo Ty Sir!
I definitely need KO power.
I do have a couple of videos about that, I would love to share, email me... john@thepit.tv
I would love to see those vids...can i email you too?
Hey John. Will do! Thanks! Been crazy with work but Ill email you sometime this week! Best - Jimmy
haha thanks !
The punch is as long until you are back in the original position. The power is from the whole body so I visualize that I go thru the bag and reverse as fast as I can but that is just my opinion. Strenght and speed needs to be in the balance! You have bigger experince, thx :)
fantastic info and so true,,speak to the pros and they will tell you the same,
OOOOOOOOWWWwwwwwuuuuuuuu!!!!! SLEDGE HAMMER!!
Much respect
I have a question:
I have seen a lot of American Kenpo demo on you Tube by masters
and they look kind of wimpi, with out tecnique , power etc.
or form
I have notice you dont have the American Kenpo flowering , defence moves ?
Thank You
Not necessarily a fan of theirs, however, I think everything is individual, and I'm sure some of their people suck, While some other people are very good.. As an overall system, however, I don't know enough about it to judge one way or another.
out of curiosity can you do a Video, telling your linage in Martial Arts ?
and how you came , with the name "Hawaii Kenpo"
Thank You
There are different techniques based on time, place and circumstance. With respect: Are you saying to never punch through the bag? I've trained for a while visualizing punching through the bag when I actually hit the bag which generates power. That being said I have done snapping or whipping punches also depending on the situation. I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Thank you.
I think he means that you shouldn't punch and basically just push your fist into the bag.
I have a question. Does your Dojo participate in any tournaments/competitions?
Bad ass shirt! I’d take instruction from John any day, wish he was local. I’ve Been training for 20 years. Maybe try googling who he is before ya comment
Keyboard warriors are silly
(Hit the bag power punch it ,Hit the bag power punch it )
Every time I read these lame insults by these guys below, for some reason, I keep seeing John knocking them out in my head!
Now we're talking!
Thanks for your support. Anything else you'd like to see?
I would be interested to hear your thoughts on Fear Management in a street controntation and perhaps the use of intimidation tactics that are used by bullies and thugs.
ZxVertige76 hey man, I'd like to answer this for myself, real quick. I don't know much of anything but I've learned that fear is a matter for the unknown. You take away the unknown and the fear goes away and calmness enters. The unknown there (for bully's and thugs) is what they're going to do or what you can't overcome. First: Train, train, and train some more and realize that you don't have to fight or confront those people=avoidance. Second: Train until you KNOW what you're capable of and make an agreement with yourself that if you're confronted and feel threatened, the second it happens, do hard quick damage and then split. No thinking, no hesitating, just knowledge and confidence in your own ability because of the PROPER training. Just my busted ass two cents worth.
Very nice man, thanks for taking the time. I have heard many theories on Fear Management, would still love to hear The Pit Master's thoughts. I do appreciate your input +Myst Ery
Now i have to buy punching bag, sledge hammer and tire of truck. And i am gonna build punching power too🔥
David Cross is a badass
how heavy was earnie shavers hammer?
Nice cross David 🤣
Hello. What do you think about knuckle push-ups on hard surfaces?
I love them and do them weekly
turn your wrist so your knuckles are facing outward and your thumbs are facing each other. Its wierd but it streghtns your wrist, your knuclkes and muscles for punching are targeted.
Awesome! What's the benefits you seen from it? Did you have Chuck does this?Last question about it. I'm done.
I think knuckle push-ups are a great benefit, build hand strength... yes Chuck did them
Vegan Paradise Wanderer I loved them in jail. I always had to have a little frustration or anger. Maybe I was just younger but now it hurts. Maybe all the boxing fractures and broken bones.
When he first waddled up and spoke..I thought I misread title. Maybe it said captain slurpee fruity punch?
Then he hit the bag.....haha
ok
Force = Mass × Acceleration.
👊😎
thx
THE PIT Online Dojo When breathing what sound to make...

PA... PA... PA...
Breath out of your mouth or 👃?
Force = Jedi training x midichlorians.
I'm not sure how helpful this expression is tbh. I'm not sure the martial arts concept of punching power really translates well into the equations of classical mechanics, but a punch does not have 'force'. you can think of a punch as a projectile with a given mass and velocity and so a certain momentum (mv), the force is what is applied by my muscles to accelerate the projectile, and then applied by his face to stop it. But seeing as during a punch my hand is moving faster than my hip or shoulder, exactly how do I measure that velocity, and how do I determine the weight behind it. I'm not sure a classical analysis of punching power is going to be as helpful as one based on bio-mechanics. So be wary when you say shit like this because it really isn't very illuminating compared to 'snap your punches don't push your punches' or any other practical technical advice.
Say what you will about this guy and his punches, but he trained Chuck Liddell. You can't argue with results.
There are haters all over, but I thinkMy results speak for it self
Would you increase you’re power more if you used a heavier medicine ball or a heavier sledgehammer
Yes you would. But don't sacrifice form.
Sir, what is the best weight of a sledge hammer to use on those tractor tires?
16-20 pounds
THE PIT Online Dojo > Thanks!
I use a tornado ball as a substitute for a sledgehammer. Like the video linked below:
Tornado Ball Training - A Sledgehammer Alternative
th-cam.com/video/eSiONxn8lzI/w-d-xo.html
It's good if you don't have room for a big tire.
why not throwing the ball high up with one arm, since you punch with just one arm at the time? Or would that be less time efficient and not a lot better for the power system by being more specific to boxing?
Depends on the size of the ball, And the specific exercise. When you do push-ups her bench press you're creating equal power on both sides, And the same holds true for the medicine ball
@@ThePitOnlineDojo I see what you mean, but my thought is that the power production needs to be more than the arms, since you also twist your torso when punching. but maybe the time efficiency is better when training both sides in one movement while not being as similar to the punch.
Are burpees good for punching power
Thoughts on shadow boxing with small weights?
That can help youOf keep your hands up, it does work the cardio a little more, and is good for your grip and your shoulders..... It does nothing for punching power however. But it is a good workout overall.
If you have resistance bands instead of weights that could help with punching power. Since it will be pulling you muscles back from your punch and muscling through. Although normal weights shouldn't do a lot.
Not punching through? But it is exactly the opposite what many other great punchers say. Is the method different in any way?
Coach can u train me im willing to listen
Ali said Ernie shavers hit him the hardest out of any boxer and he fought a lot of heavy hitters.
I wanna be like Mike
the strength vs power thing was good it is also why I don't like people using a sledgehammer to build hitting power. it will build strength and endurance but very few people can accelerate the sledge fast enough to actually make it about explosive power.
Ernie Shavers had so much power he could use a sledge, he didn't have so much power BECAUSE he used a sledge. Chopping wood or even beating on the tire with a sturdy baseball bat would probabaly build more explosiveness. despite that disagreement philospohicly tho I'd love the chance to work with Hacklmen
Thank you very much for your input, and you made a lot of sense, however when myself or my fighters use our sledgehammer we explode On the way down as if we were throwing a punch.
love your videos. one suggestion. get a microphone. it's sometimes hard to hear when you are far away and your place echos. not a huge deal, but would definitely make your videos better I reckon.
Thanks for your support, I will definitely look into that. And I definitely appreciate your input.
No problem. Take care, brother.
can u do this with bob bag or it has to be a heavy bag ?
You can definitely use a Bob
@@ThePitOnlineDojo thanks. Im getting into it. Love ur videos.
Like a mike tyson
Don't wear fipflops with a sledge hammer
Add ko power, for your health! -Dr.Steve Brule
How good are those flip flops..
They're the best
mustang19ms > Why are you talking shit? I'll cage fight you or street fight you at that gym if it's okay with this fantastic teacher and we'll put some money on the line too and 30% goes to this man regardless who wins.
What do you think chump?
@@rrt1592 easy big boy, you're the one talking shit, I was genuinely admiring the flip flops, I was expecting them to tear.
Kid, your attitude implies that you're a weasel who won't do much in a fight
The reason people complain about this type of training is because everyone who has boxed for the last 20 years knows about this stuff, and in the meantime, training has evolved. When you look at a channel like Phil Daru's or many others, you actually learn about stuff that more efficiently transfers to combat motions. This is the first time I've ever watched a youtube vid on proper punching technique/power development and learned absolutely nothing from it.
And he also needs better sound equipment
You look like liddell lol
Alex Pereira got his punching power from his tyre changing job, where he hits the tyres for a living. Nothing to do with his genetics
hitting the tire with a sledgehammer is not only the best way to build punching power, it's also the most fun
