Hi Berry, i noticed that you had to put tension on the forstay fork before you could fit the safety pin, this could very well be why it broke. When the safety pin is under tension all the time it will get metal fatigue and brake. You need a longer bolt through the fork so that there is not tension or pressure on the safety pin. Look forward to your next video. Br Kewin
Well done Barry, so glad you are on the up. Great music again to accompany the video. As a ps.I've joined you now as an old seadog, at 71 I've just sailed my Corribee 21 today on the Rance estuary, near St Malo, Brittany for the first time 👍 😀
I’m guessing you’re a Roger Taylor fan . I am as well. Great books etc. There is a little Corribee rotting away in the yard here. I can’t locate the owner. My loss. Congrats on fulfilling your dreams. Post some videos. You will have at least one hardcore fan here. Is she Junk rigged yet?😂😂😂
Barry, I watched an old episode of you trying to make bread....enough said. I have an idea for you as I am a chef of 25 years experience. I love bread also but live in Thailand now and can't always get it where I live. You can make flat bread and cook it all within 15 minutes. Flour, little sugar, little salt, baking powder and water to mix into a dough ( can get away without the baking powder if you can't get it ) Mix together and knead for 1 minute. Roll into a fat sausage and cut in 2" disc's roll out 2 of the disc's as flat as you can..use a jar or can of beans to roll out. Put the spare disc's in the freezer for another time. Use a big frying pan and get hot.... NO OIL..... Put your rolled out dough in very hot dry pan and cook both sides until brown . Can be filled with anything, Bacon and cheese, ham and tomato...just roll and eat...Bread in minutes. Enjoy Barry....Ps can even be made into a Pizza base.... Love the show by the way.
Binge watching Barry, I can see him being more famous after he’s done sailing, I can see this being picked up on cable tv one day. This is one of the most amazing content on TH-cam!
I've been binge watching you from the begining after being recomended by a marina neighbour here in your old stomping ground of Plymouth. I wasn't going to comment until I got to the current video but man, I just had to. The feat of moral fortitude that kept you going for 71 days is quite simply staggering, you sir are one awesome human being! I'm setting off on my own adventure next year and I really hope we bump into each other somewhere - not literally of course!
Dear Old Sea Dog, we are very happy to see you are doing well and enjoying the pacific islands. After your last episode we actually hoped you would elaborate a bit on your adventures of your pacific crossing. That seemed like it must have been really, really tough! All the best and be safe, Marijn and Sanne
Hey Barry, On the fork pin for your mainstay, the reason for (almost) losing the pin is deterioration of the cotter pin from friction wear caused by the pressure the side of the fork puts against the weaker (cotter pin) metal? If so, try shielding it with a washer between the cotter and the fork. You probably don't have a lot of room for a thick washer, but even a thin spacer there would prevent that from happening. Good sailing to you.
I've loved watching your adventures while being off of work sick. The comments about the mermaids and merman made me laugh. Hope you enjoyed the beer. Safe journeys Sir👍😊
After watching several different TH-camrs go through French Polynesia over the last couple of years, it's always interesting to get different perspectives. And it's amazing how many different takes there are. Certainly enjoyed yours. Still can'r get over the growth on Shaddy from the two months or so of the "crossing". Quite incredible!! The poor old girl was certainly starting to look like a real "Shabby Shaddy". Hope you've been able to get all that knocked into a bit of shape while repairing your own body and soul!
I am going Back through these Again, I hate being all caught up on your videos 😫😱 so now I have to wait a week or Three to see another one. 🤷🏻♂️ But I love the videos put up of coming into the Marquises islands, Easy Mikes boat ⛵️ there At. 16:13, He was telling me just today that he likes Fatu Hiva the very best because of THIS Bay, but he’s at Nuku Hiva right now... Beautiful place...!!😎👍✅
Thanks Berry for sharing most exceptional islands of Hiva Oa and Fatu Hiva with us. I sailed the Marquesas twenty years ago, relived one of the best moments of circumnavigating the world. Cheers and Happy sailing.
Simply beautiful islands. Oh my the bay of many phalluses reformed by the church. Thanks for sharing you old Seadog. Fair Winds and Following Seas sir.
Thanks Barry I enjoyed this adventure so much. I used to be so excited about the first hang-gliders and took part in flying them. Then microlights and flew them also. I believe we are of a similar age, so I am living your dream by watching you have fun even though it must be quite frightening at times:)
Did you know...??? In the Canary Islands, there is Not even one Canary... In the Virgin Islands - same thing... There is Not one Canary there either... lol
Hey the subscribers have rocketed up! Last year there were only a few of us. Richly deserved and hope you get many more. Thank you for taking us along on your journeys.
Yay, you made it! (I knew you had arrived) However, I’ve been anticipating your video of your arrival moments and the waiting to see the pride and relief on your face. What an adventure! I’d heard about the gooseneck barnacles, but I’m still baffled by so much green growth on the side of the hull too. Cheers.

Lovely video - so nice to see someone actually doing what so many of us just think about. PS - Don't dismiss the idea of meeting a nice merman. He might be a dab hand / tail with a scraper to attend to the barnacles on your bottom.
Very good Barry! Much deserved. you really had to fight for it, must have been really hard on both your body and mind. Thank you for sharing it all with us, much appreciated. Best of luck on your journey forward.
We ❤ love orange man. Both of you 😊

Barry, I got to say. I have traveled the world myself. Nothing, nothing like you, all alone, a molecule at sea. Keep up your spirit man. Travel on.
71 days at sea and they let you into a Bay of Virgins...Oh My! 😱

Buddy you did something few humans would survive. My hats off to you. I cannot believe the height of the all the seaweed on the hull.
His sailboat is a high maintenance boat that is not highly maintained.

A cable show would be a smaller audience.
You Tube is the place to be these day… by far the biggest potential audience.
Scrubbing bottoms in the Bay of Virgins. Priceless.
Barry, its great to see you again, You worry my ass off but you always show up again. Thanks for all you do. Stay well!
