The Marquesas are fantastically beautiful, but it's been decades since I've been there. I didn't realize that the opinion of Hiva Oa has become what what it is. At least you're safe, healthy, happy and enjoying the company of friends, old and new, while you're sharing your experiences while exploring this incredible world. Thank you for the video!
We agree, the Marquesas are stunning! The number of boats now visiting the main anchorage at Hiva Oa are probably simply too many. It's a smallish anchorage so the number of good spots is limited. We're hoping to go back since we didn't really get to explore the island. Yes, we are extremely fortunate! Thanks so much for watching Leon. We hope you're well!

I was wondering why Yoda wasn't coming to shore! Do you take her on daily walks around the promenade deck to keep her exercised when she can't go to shore?
😊😊 poor girl!! She was confined to the boat for a long time🥲 Kristin plays with her, she plays fetch on the tramps (untile they end up in the drink) and runs around in circles chasing low flying birds but her energy level was about ready to explode!! She says “thanks Peter for checking on me”
WOW, They are such stunning islands, so I guess they have that going for them. But like everything, there are down sides and trade offs. I was a shame you had to move. With the cruise ship, I'm guessing with todays technology, they can just set their computer/s to follow previous courses laid down and get the GPS to steer the ship right into the best position wharf side. You still need to allow for currents and wind of course, but it should be much easier than 100 years ago. It's great that you have been making such good friends within the cruising community and that you are able to meet and greet many of them from time to time. Where are they headed to next? I hope your stay allows you to get Yoda's paperwork sorted. Fair 💨's and following 🌊's for the next week!

I didn't give much thought to how the cruise ship got in there but that's a good point. Our friends from this episode are sailing onto New Zealand this season. Currently we are In Moorea. We are planning to go back to the Marquesas, probably Nuku Hiva. With Wl Nino year it sounds like the season will be a bit more active. Thanks for watching our video 😊😊
You just have to watch the weather and wait for the right window. The wind does clock to the north and often comes from the south and you could use either to get to the Marquesas.

Our insurance covers the Marquesas for cyclone season. Every 4 years there is a huge festival (Marquesas arts festival) and this is the year, so we think it will be a lot of fun. We are spending another year in FP and we like to immerse in the culture. 😊😊😊
