    What's a tent you really like which isn't that common?

      I really like the Mountain Designs Alpine Bunker 2 and 3P tents but can't find any user reviews online 😉

      You’re very welcome. The person who I hiked with who owns the X-Mid 2 tent, has also ordered the Pro version which he’s excited about getting. Keep up the good work. ⛺️👍🏼😀

    Excellent stuff Mr Wild Man. It's nice to see you giving your viewers a taste of some of the brands available in other countries. Also, pretty terrible about the tent thieves!

      Thanks Josh. It was great to see a wide variety of tents on this recent trip and to meet those who own them. Yes, crazy about those thieves!

    Nice one Barry - Again a difficult one to tackle as many reviewers only know the details about the tent that they are reviewing. Great to see that you are open minded regarding many different shelters and sleep systems..I have a little soft spot for Slingfin tents particularly the WindSaber (very smart design and 10.6mm poles but very thin fabrics, I mean too thin for me...). Thanks Tom. It’s funny as I was going to add the Slingfin SplitWing into this video, however I choose to mainly focus on those I saw on my recent trip. The WindSaber looks like a really nice tent. I notice though it only has one cross pole at only one end. So your obviously have to pitch this into the wind. Thanks for your review.

    I use 2 tents from Intents Outdoors. They are both trekking pole tents. The Orson Indie1 and Indie 2. The 2p tent when there is more space, the 1p in the bush, or when limited for space. Good waterproofing, ventilation, lightweight, and not very expensive. Perfect for me.

      Very nice. I’ve heard of a few people who also like the Orson tents. Well done. 👍🏼

    I've got the marmot force 2p,3p and fortress 2p on the way for better weather protection when you need to close up the mesh

      GOod stuff. Yes, being about to block out the draft and keep some warmth in during winter is key. Have fun out there! :)

    Well, there's my Kiwi Camping Pukeko and my Marmot Zoom - Both loved. P.s Bud, just send those hammock inquiries over to the dark side, I'll help them decide ;-)

    My go to 1 person tent is my MSR Hubba HP - a much older and hardier version with 10,000 bathtub floor and very little mesh. Suits me very well. Haven't seen any of these out and about.

      Nice. That must be back in the days when they made stronger and more durable Hubba’s. Good one. 👍🏼

    Hi Barry last three videos awesome we are looking for a new tent .not related to this video but we are planning a hike on the kepler doc show very little tent sites ,have you done this hike? And know some other places to tent off track, if it's inappropriate to say no TH-cam I understand
    Thanks Shane

    • @wildmountainman1
      @wildmountainman1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Shane. Yes, I’ve done the Kepler several years ago, we really enjoyed it. It was with my wife and we stayed in huts. There are certain official DOC tent sites around various huts. I’d checkout the website and you’ll be about to see where the tent sites are. Have fun.

    Hi Barry
    I also live in Christchurch and I'm enjoying your channel. I'm trying to find the video where you discuss hiking tent ventilation. Can you please help me?

    • @wildmountainman1
      @wildmountainman1  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there. Sorry, that’s not a specific topic I’ve covered in my videos. To be honest, although you can reduce condensation, there’s nothing that will stop it, especially if its cold at night or if you have a single skinned, poorly vented tent.

    Hey Barry
    I would love to see you do a review/check out the “Kuiu” Mountain Star and Storm Star tents 👍🏻

    • @wildmountainman1
      @wildmountainman1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Shaun! Yes, that tent looks very strong indeed with its multi-poles on the outside and dome shape. Unfortunately their website is lacking on the exact types and weights of fabrics they use. Do you have a Storm Star?

    • @shaungalea1713
      @shaungalea1713 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wildmountainman1 the details are on a pdf you can download a little further down the page.
      I have been thinking about upgrading to a 4 season tent and the storm star seems to be a lighter weight option.
